    By the way I agree with another comment. This is an Irish like beef stew. Real Irish stew is made with lamb. However, this comment is a compliment. My wife doesn't like lamb so I made this recipe. Absolutely delicious. The Guinness Stout works wonderfully. Thank you for a Great recipe.

    I made this today and it is so good. I did have a side of sautéed mushrooms to add, if wanted. Next time and I mean next time because I will be making this a lot now. I will try it with lamb but can be hard to find. I used beef this time and I think it is better than beef stew. Try and enjoy. Thank you for your recipe and video. It is much appreciated.

    Silly question, but if I am not a stout beer lover, will I taste the Stout enough that I might not like the taste of the stew? I'm thinking it wouldn't be a problem because you got tomato paste and lots of seasoning and vegetables so it would change the taste enough that I wouldn't notice it so much. Thanks as always!

    • @AMindFullMom
      @AMindFullMom  Před 2 lety +2

      Not a silly question! I dont like to drink stout, but love it in recipes. The stout mellows out, but does give tones of coffee and caramel. You may prefer my regular beef stew recipe: czcams.com/video/c-IOaYGQKW8/video.html

    This looks incredible I'm gonna use your video to make this . Currently struggling with affording food..my question is can u thicken it

    • @AMindFullMom
      @AMindFullMom  Před rokem +1

      Hi Maxilo! First of all, feel free to decrease the amount of beef used to help cut down on costs. Secondly, yes, you can thicken. To do so, after pressure cooking and the pressure is released, mix together 1 tablespoon of corn starch with 1 tablespoon of water. Turn the instant pot back to saute and whisk in the cornstarch slurry. Let simmer and bubble until thickened.

    we need to feed 8 people what are portions ... if we double all that you suggest, will it fit into a 6 qt instant pot

    • @AMindFullMom
      @AMindFullMom  Před 7 měsíci

      This makes 8 small servings and 6 hearty servings. If you are serving with bread and salad, it likely will be enough. If you double a recipe, just be sure it doesn't fill the inner pot more than 2/3rds way full. Keep the cooking time the same and allow for a natural pressure release.

  • @Hamneggs197

    Is that an 8 qt? I’m having a real hard time trying to convert 6qt recipes for the 8 qt. I’ve ruined many meals to the point i gave up. If you know how to convert for any recipe i would appreciate it. Thanks

    • @AMindFullMom
      @AMindFullMom  Před 2 lety +2

      Hi David! All of my recipes are made stating modifications for both the 6-quart and 8-quart. I have both models and test accordingly. For this recipe, no change is needed for the 8-quart. For other recipes, it can be tricky, but the key is to remember that you need a full 1.5 cups of liquid when using the 8-quart. I hope that helps.

    Do they sell the beers individually? I want to try this

    • @AMindFullMom
      @AMindFullMom  Před 2 lety +2

      Typically most major grocery stores will sell beers individually. Trader Joe's does as well. Just look for a stout beer to use (it does not need to be Guiness)

    We call this Beef Stew….. Irish stew is only lamb and NEVER beef….. likewise Shepard’s pie uses lamb vs beef. If you substitute the lamb with beef, it’s then called cottage pie…… Sheppard’s don’t look after cows…. Hence Shepard

      She told people in the beginning… please don’t be a food snob, it is impolite and ugly. Being Irish, there are times you have to make due with what you have so just be blessed to have a lovely recipe that is delicious..

      Just a tiny bit helps to balance the acidity of the stout. Totally optional.
