I think the girls were fed up with being reality tv stars as opposed to being singers in a band. It seems like they took part in the show and won their spots in the band and thought their dreams of pop stardom had come true but Diddy was making so much money from the MTB show that he wanted to stick with the reality show as opposed to actually managing and promoting a band.
Hahah sometimes he reminds me of my dad, meaning his way or no way and there is no getting your point across, if it’s different and then he throws out those ultimatums and then I’m like an Aubrey where I get pissed and then blurt it all out. We are in a much better place now, but we had major issues in the past.
Can you tell me why I'm still crying watching this in 2023. I've never been this heartbroken over a music artist (aside from Whitney Houston's death) Been rewatching MTB seasons and soaking up the nostalgia. Then this infamous scene comes up and Im taken right back to that night first seeing it. DK is so interesting to me. They've been thru so many versions, 4somes, threesomes, duos, fights, forgiveness etc And still continue to want to work together. I wish the best for everyone. Shannon has her kids company Vooks, Dawn and her solo act, animation with Adult Swim etc, Aubrey and her solo act+other entertainment ventures, Aundrea and her family life. They really made an impact. 😊
I totally forgot he tried to get them all to sit down with each other one last time to work it out and only Dawn and Aubrey showed up. Shannon was even ignoring calls. I honestly think he regretted saying what he said to DWoods. He was so furious at Aubrey he took it out on DWoods and then he tried to correct himself but it was too late at that point.
No. Aubrey was fired, along with D-Woods and the following season, only Dawn & Andrea showed up. Shannon hired a lawyer and she was advised not to speak on the situation, nor be involved with the show which was a smart move. At the end of the season, Diddy ended up releasing Aubrey, D-Woods, Shannon and in the end, Andrea from their contracts, only to leave Dawn as the only remaining member of DK which eventually got disbanded and she ended up joining Diddy’s Dirty Money group. So Aubrey was totally right with what Diddy was doing with Dawn, having her record solo records for his group and screwing up DK.

Everything makes sense. Some of the women have come forward in podcasts saying Diddy had no idea how much DK was going to blow up so Bad Boy didn’t even produce enough CDs for sales. They were ready to move on to the next season of MTB and thought we would forget about DK. BB took all the money and didn’t pay them. Aubrey comes from an educated family of lawyers, she smart as hell and went ‘nah’, made her money on Broadway and her other endeavors because the girl was probably struggling like the rest of them. Diddy did not expect this to happen, knew Aubrey could open her mouth and expose him so he put an end to it by blaming them for not showing up to performances (they weren’t getting paid for). Good for Aubrey. Why else did a low-key person like Shannon move back home immediately after DK was over and didn’t pick up the phone ever again, despite the ‘pleasant' work relationship? She has her boundaries, understood that Diddy was scheming and it wasn’t worth to fight it due to Diddy’s power, chose peace and moved on to the next job that puts food on the table. Aundrea was kind of the same even though she probably had some hope immediately after Aubrey and D.Woods got fired. Dawn was made to believe she was the chosen one by Diddy, I assume.

I genuinely think the relationship between all 5 members was solid, however the music industry is a killer industry and there's so much pressure to attain a certain status and Bad Boy messed Danity Kane all up. If one person or two people were fired, I would have rallied everyone to leave together and join another label that truly cares for the mental health and well being of its employees. Diddy and Aubrey were having a power battle. He chose her first to the make the band, and basically said she was the leader. They both had big egos and it got in the way of the group. The funny thing is - she did an interview a few years ago , AMAZING INTERVIEW, and she said they as a group had a convo prior to this scene in the car outside where they agreed they’d play face and say they were fine but Aubrey kind of blew the spot up so some scenes Dawn looks completely lost because Aubrey popped up with this random rumor that Dawn had a deal with Diddy on the side which was not true. Aubrey got that info from MTV which is shown here and Dawn makes a “wtf” face at 2:39. Dawn said the groups downfall started because of outsiders being in everyones ear Dawn also appeared in her interview to not have been shocked Aubrey got fired because they (Diddy and Aubrey) were bumping heads for so long, she expected Diddy to snap. I agree! None of his artists not even Mase has major success outside of him. Not one person is nearly as successful as Diddy. It's like no one shines as bright or brighter than him. Crazy how Rich Diddy is and none of his artists have come close to that. When you look at other artists over a label, Jay, Dame, Kanye, Russell, La Reid with Arista, Clive Davidson, these men created successful millionaires and billionaires but not Sean Combs. People can keep getting on here trying to say oh well this person had indi albums and this person has a studio. No doubt talented people can always find a way to make some money but again NONE of them are as successful or even close to the level of success that Diddy is because he makes sure no one around him gets to the level and we all know it! The writings were on the wall on this very stage. DK4 could have started here and went on to continue the success, but Aubrey's ego made Diddy AND the other girls uncomfortable. Sidebar: I find it hard to believe if Diddy were paying them more than enough to live comfortably that any of the issues they had with each other would have led to the demise of the group.

So of course they would feel like they are being mistreated by Diddy because he was harsh to them. Diddy and Aubrey were having a power battle. He chose her first to the make the band, and basically said she was the leader. They both had big egos and it got in the way of the group. I agree! None of his artists not even Mase has major success outside of him. Not one person is nearly as successful as Diddy. It's like no one shines as bright or brighter than him. When you look at other artists over a label, Jay, Dame, Kanye, Russell, La Reid with Arista, Clive Davidson, these men created successful millionaires and billionaires but not Sean Combs. I'd venture to say if she had any hint of major solo success in music she would have never been interested in the half-baked reunions we got.

So of course they would feel like they are being mistreated by Diddy because he was harsh to them. It was pretty sad and shocking when this happened, although it wasn't surprising that Diddy disbanded yet another band.
The truth is, Aubrey DID change from the person we all were rooting for. She went from a confident but humble 'California girl' with the 'It factor', to loud, trashy, and self-centered. She knew she was the most popular in the band and it got to her.
