I feel that people that have not had a loved one that is gay or a friend that is gay or don't know anyone who is gay, can not understand that love is love, whether with the opposite sex or with the same sex. As for religious people who take the bible so literally, I say this "we are not our bodies, our bodies are just a shell, a holding place for our soul. The soul is our true self and THE SOUL DOES NOT HAVE A SEX." In my opinion, the person who judges any one in such a hateful way, is the person that is most likely to end up in hell. I think you will go straight to heaven because you are such a loving person. I believe that you will pass purgatory.I do not believe that gay people end up in hell. That is laughingly absurd, untrue, contrary to all reason and common sense, foolish and false. The Pope even said that the Catholic Church should not dismiss gay marriage. I just opened the door for people who believe that the Catholic Church is a CULT. Those people can believe what they want to believe, It is not for me to judge. We will just have to agree to disagree. I have no hard feeling for there beliefs but they do NOT have the right to judge my beliefs.

Three months ago while looking for makeup ideas I found you. I live in the USA, Virginia and probably much older then your average peep. 50's, but love my make up and you brighten my day and give me the new and beautiful ideas that I have also passed along to my daughters. I know this video is old, but its about time that the government is FINALLY catching up with most of society. In the US its fucking ridiculous that certain states allow it and others don't. They need to just be accepting of everyone, its not like it affects them!! Also, there are two things getting in the way of our (imaginary) love and thats A: I'm married and B: I have a va jay jay hahahaha ;-). I myself am straight. NO ONE should tell you whom you can marry. If a person of the same sex makes you happy then I say go for it !! Don't blame me. I am a libertarian. The state has no business in our personal lives nor defining marriage. It's up to individuals to define marriage for themselves.
More importantly, you grant power to the state, the state doesn't grant power to you.
Well, it makes two people who aren't blood related legally family. That way if one of you dies or is incapacitated, the other can make certain decisions without a POA or a will. It's much easier and cheaper to sign one document, the marriage license, than to pay an attorney to draw up a will and a POA. Without being legally married, your partner would have no rights to make decisions in the event of your death or if you were in the hospital. I've heard lots of stories where a gay person is in a comma, brain dead, etc. and their family bars the person's partner from visiting. Even if you do have a POA and will, your family can take your partner to court to have the documents thrown out. There have been cases where the family of the deceased contests the will to keep a gay partner from inheriting anything. It's sad. A marriage license on the other hand, would automatically grant rights that the family would have difficulty contesting except in special circumstances. While a marriage license isn't necessary to show commitment, it does make things easier when medical issues or death happen.

Like they can decide what's medicine like when big pharma drugs kills hundreds of thousands a year but a plant, well-known for it's medicinal qualities, is illegal though it's killed no one? It's the difference between Napoleonic law and comon law and more importantly, you grant power to the state, the state doesn't grant power to you. The issues arising with "gay marriage" can be handled through contract law and healthcare proxy here in the US and the equivalent in the UK. Leave marriage to the people and their churches or what ever they choose. If one church doesn't want to marry a gay couple, go to a Unitarian one. OR, have a friend do it in a ceremony in front of your friends and family. Why do you need the state to get involved? It's nonsensical.
GuysCallMeShawna It's much simpler to have ONE document that officially declares your partner, so that they automatically get privileges. POAs, Healthcare Proxy, wills, can all be contested. If your family hates your partner, without a marriage license they can more easily fight to make themselves your beneficiary, POA, proxy etc. It happens a lot. Also, getting a divorce would also remove all the benefits I mentioned before. But if you aren't married and had gone through all the trouble of POAs, Healthcare proxy, etc, you have to go back and revoke all those documents individually in the event of a breakup. Whether you want to call it marriage or not, ONE document declaring your partner/spouse is much easier.

Until it comes time for divorce which is at a 50% rate in the US. A domestic parntership contract would be like a prenup...or a marriage contract. All you have to do is require satutory language as to Bill sharing, household responsibilities and division of assets...etc.... What has the state done right? Everything the state takes over for our convince or betterment turns out to be the opposite. This why they rioted in Greece and France. The Global insurrection is about freedom. The state usurping power to license ended up excluding individuals, which here in the US is a violation of the first amendment right because marriage is a religious or church institution whatever you choose it to be.It's a clear violation of civil liberties which are to be protected and NOT granted. Giving more power to the state to control your personal life consolidates power and then what happens when you get a homophobe in their or if I may bring up NAZI Germany? What's liberty? The freedom from control.
The riots had nothing to do with marriage licenses. You are trying to connect events that had nothing to do with marriage. A domestic partnership contract is still more complicated than getting a marriage license. The contract only covers household expenses and shared assets. It does not cover healthcare proxy or POA in the event of one of you being incapacitated.

I totally agree! This happened to me.......my husband and I have been married for 31 years! I had broken an engagement...found out my fiance was dealing drugs........my husband had been divorced for 2 years......his wife was unfaithful to the extreme.......we were both fed up people and not looking for anyone....we both had become comfortable with being alone. We met at the doctors office! I was the receptionist and he was the cute patient and we struck up a conversation. Found out we had mutual friends. A week later, he asked me out......we've been together ever since!

I firstly met hubby (Russ) when I had just turned 22, he was 36 & married to someone else, 3 kids, the whole shebang. We met at work - he was one of my bosses. I was engaged to someone else when I met him and absolutely loathed Russ at the time (and the feeling was mutual!). To cut the story short, fast forward 7 years, I'm now (then) 28 and having worked, lived & loved all over the world & had my heart broken on numerous occasions I too was fed up and decided I couldn't be bothered to look anymore. So I'm now back in Australia for a bit (where I'm from) & I return to the place I had worked where I met Russ - only on a temporary basis (2 weeks) to take the place of someone who was on leave & met up with Russ again - who had left the workplace years before but who also only *just* that week started back again as well on a temporary basis! We started to talk, I found out his marriage was in big trouble & he was leaving his wife and we became friends, and the rest, as they say, is history. Funny how life works..
