Wayne I honestly think it’s a double edged sword. For PR to only start sending you things at 3 million subs is crazy. I’m 41 years old and I can afford to buy whatever products I want to buy. And companies don’t gear their ad campaigns to my age group. They gear them to people who are young enough to be my children. Who do they think has to buy said product for that child? My point is simply this unfortunately due to age, gender, your honesty is why I personally think the PR bus was slow. I admire you for so many reasons. Being humble, honest and being able to admit your faults is what being a grown up is all about. I never put makeup on until about 3 years ago and your videos were the first I ever watched. What I think is lacking in the beauty community is basically the same things you touched upon. I can’t for the most part tell who’s being truthful. What the makeup actually looks like in real life and I have very few beauty influencers I can relate to. I wish you all the success you deserve. Thank you for being relatable and honest.
I just realized that Wayne has changed my whole look! I'm one of those people who made A LOT of makeup mistakes, which could be forgiven in my younger years. But now, I realize he's changed my techniques in my fifties, to the point that now, turning sixty, people constantly say I look like I'm ten and fifteen years younger. And I don't even use foundation most days! I'm a minimalist, but I just pay attention to my biggest flaws, with Wayne's help. Thanks, Wayne!
I personally don't tune in for the background or the editing.....I watch because I like your tips and what you have to say. I'd probably still watch if you filmed on a box in your closet wearing pajamas or whatever ,but that's just me. And your brushes are the shit!!! Well brush....ive only been able to afford one so far but i plan on getting more 💗

Oh Wayne. I have been watching you since you sat at a desk with a wooden door and white walls in the background. And maybe even a desk lamp? ... I remember watching you and actually learning make up techniques that I could apply to my daily routine. I could feel the love and passion you had for shaping faces and enhancing the natural beauty that we all have. No fancy background, PR hauls or other stupid shit. It's been years since then and I still am subscribed, watch to the end, and learn. It's not about all the fluff and bull shit but the actual content and person who you are. Part of the enjoyment of YT is to be able to create, edit and upload your own videos. If we are all going to get professional editors, then it will just become online Hollywood and it will lose the personal touch and relatability. I love that you have kept your background as it gives a sense of constancy and familiarity when everything else seems to be changing around us. Don' t stop being you. You have 3M plus people who have welcomed you into their lives, and is for a reason. The 10 individuals that email you their lack of joy and misery are only worth being ignored.

please NEVER change your background! Love it as it is! :))) This is my way of saying, I couldn't freaking care less about your background! And regarding the youtubers that make a good living out of this and forget about how lucky they are... Only hours ago a very popular female youtuber (millions of followers) posted a video called something like "$3,000 of makeup tutorial". And although I do like to watch high-end stuff and learn more about what there is make-up and skin care wise in the world, I was seriously disgusted by the fact that the same youtuber regularly complains in her videos about NOT being on some company's PR lists, hence not getting more stuff for free... I was so disgusted that I left my opinion in the comments and unsubscribed. Why? Because I hate it when people forget to be thankful and lose their head when success hits them. Most of her followers will never be able to afford the stuff she gets for free and yet she regularly finds time and place to complain about the fact that some companies don't shower her with gifts... A big no-no for me.
5Heliotrope I watched that one today as well. I usually skip these types of videos from her and others like her. There is high-end (my high-end is $20 mascara to $50 palettes) and her high-end, which is absolutely outrageous. $200 setting spray? Never could I get that and I think it's a waste of money. If I had money for that kind of stuff I would probably donate food or clothes to shelters, etc.
5Heliotrope I too watched that today and remembered her complaining in a video about companies not sending her free stuff & emails she had received from companies. She dedicated a lot of time to bash these companies & made it clear who they were in future videos. I left a comment mentioning that a real MUA like Wayne goss still has to buy everything themselves whilst she was getting a new house, free holidays a new Porsche a big wedding a room make over by the same company as Jeffree starr for free. She has a producer, editor & director & that comment was removed repeatedly from her page. It seems she didn't want people knowing the truth behind her 'success' it makes me sick that level of being detached from reality & her humble beginnings & she gives nothing to charity, shelters or even her viewers. She inboxed & just throws hundreds of pounds of make up aside as if it were rubbish without barely a thank you, it makes me sick that entitlement level. She also had 446 likes when only 8 people had viewed the video, that made me very suspicious & I too unsubscribed, it was the icing on the cake for me.
5Heliotrope I hate the videos she makes showing her wardrobe and calling out the designer names. They just scream “look at me, I’m rich!” She used to be more humble, don’t know what happened.

I like when it's homey. I like the realness of it. News CZcamsr Philip DeFranco was criticised for earning so much money and providing office rooms for his news staff, while he himself was filming by a desk in front of a sofa with some pillows. They argued that it was cheap and unprofessional of him. Well, no. Good CZcamsrs are relatable, no matter how successful they are. Biggest CZcamsr Pewdiepie still films at home in that small room with poor lightning, I'd say it's like 4 square feet, with an overcrowded desk and one chair. I also think it's got to do with what kind of format and tone you strive to achieve, so if you like that other sort of "fancy" thing, _you should go watch those CZcamsrs instead._ So no, not "everyone else" is doing it, I have a feeling that it's often people who feel they have something to prove, who spend way to much time their image rather than their CONTENT. DeFranco used his money to take his staff with him and buy back his channel, making sure _they_ kept their jobs and they are great researchers, which is exactly what you should spend money on when you're delivering news, not a huge, glossy studio. Pewdiepie donates millions and millions to charity. And our favourite Wayne Goss buys the makeup he uses by himself, giving us unbiased reviews and clever instructions on how to get as much out of using cheap products as well as high end stuff. He probably COULD cash in and show off all that free stuff, showing us a room of high end brands we could never afford, with a fancy backdrop, but he doesn't. Because he's a class act.
I didn't think I could adore you more, but I do! To have someone answer, point out their own missteps, and be able to laugh at themselves is HUGE! This is what keeps you grounded, approachable, and keeping people tuned in to YOU! You're not "more of the same", nor are you constantly trying to sell something. Please keep doing what you do. Background...so? Fancy editing...who needs it? You sir are different and we need different! 💞
You said so many truths. Your background doesn’t matter it’s the content of your video. I always love that your videos are quick and to the point. It’s also so true that the ones that can’t afford everything are the ones that are given it for free.
I hate it when CZcamsrs with large numbers of subscribers open the hundreds of pounds worth of free make up they have received to review/promote in front of the viewers and they're like "lets see what (name of very expensive makeup) has in their new makeup line has sent me to review" or words to that effect and they whip out this massive beautiful box of full of pre released makeup that they have been given. I've stopped watching the reviews that do that, there's no need for them to show this unboxing of as I said before, very expensive make up they are getting for nothing. The average person is lucky if they can afford to buy a few bits and pieces from some of these makeup lines and there they are with more of it than they could use in a lifetime and the best part is is the only reason they have all this is because of us, the subscribers who allow them this privilege and I think many of these people have forgotten that. I'm so glad you understand that Wayne and so happy you don't behave like that because it's starting to make me feel sick to my stomach. (Sorry for long rant but it really pisses me off!)
I absolutely adore you and your being real. When I watch a video, i do not care about the backdrop. I am there for that person, their input, the product or whatever they are doing. Thank you for being real ❤️

Love this! As a new CZcamsr, I constantly feel pressure to have a nice background but like you, there's only one place I can really film in my house that's quiet and has good natural lighting and I can't afford to redo the entire room right now. But no one seems to mind my background and some have even said that they like it better than those that look like studio sets. I think it's just me putting pressure on myself. I don't think people watching are as critical. 😊💕
Your videos aren't about what's going on in the background, WTH? LOL! It says a bit about the person commenting with their, "everyone else is doing it" remark. People who are secure in themselves and what they're doing don't see a need to compare themselves to others.

I started watching your videos seven years ago when I used to live in Beijing (yes, I had a VPN so I could bypass the Chinese firewall that blocked YT, FB, Twitter, etc) and your YT channel was my little place of escape from the craziness of work/chaos of China lol. I have continued to watch your videos even after moving back to Canada a few years ago and it's comforting to see that background! I, for one, am glad you haven't changed it! What's more significant, though, is the fact you're still just as humble, down-to-earth and relatable as you used to be. A lot of YT beauty personalities make sudden changes when they start raking in the views/subscribers and that, as some of the comments from viewers make evident, has alienated a lot of viewers who see that as selling out, being fake, etc. I appreciate that you have remained true to your purpose of being on YT and never forget where you came from. I learn so much from your channel and I hope you continue to share videos with us (and enjoy making them!)

I have been following you Wayne, for quite a long time (as in YEARS). Your background, clothing, lighting, angle, editing, or any other bullshit has never once crossed my mind. I have learned more from you about makeup and application than I have ANY other youtuber’s I follow combined. I actually appreciate that you have not changed your background, that you don’t have a team, that you don’t have the best camera, that you don’t have the best editing program, that you don’t vlog luxurious vacations, that you don’t post high end (or any) fashion hauls or lookbooks, that you don’t vlog your gym workouts and what I eat in a day. I’m so tired of people deeming themselves as so important that they have to film and show us everything about their supposedly amazing selves and lives. I honestly just deleted instagram and unfollowed a bunch of CZcamsrs (except those that I still enjoy). Not only do I not have to get annoyed with such people anymore but I also feel a lot less horrible about myself and my normal life.

Wayne I honestly think it’s a double edged sword. For PR to only start sending you things at 3 million subs is crazy. I’m 41 years old and I can afford to buy whatever products I want to buy. And companies don’t gear their ad campaigns to my age group. They gear them to people who are young enough to be my children. Who do they think has to buy said product for that child? My point is simply this unfortunately due to age, gender, your honesty is why I personally think the PR bus was slow. I admire you for so many reasons. Being humble, honest and being able to admit your faults is what being a grown up is all about. I never put makeup on until about 3 years ago and your videos were the first I ever watched. What I think is lacking in the beauty community is basically the same things you touched upon. I can’t for the most part tell who’s being truthful. What the makeup actually looks like in real life and I have very few beauty influencers I can relate to. I wish you all the success you deserve. Thank you for being relatable and honest.

I just realized that Wayne has changed my whole look! I'm one of those people who made A LOT of makeup mistakes, which could be forgiven in my younger years. But now, I realize he's changed my techniques in my fifties, to the point that now, turning sixty, people constantly say I look like I'm ten and fifteen years younger. And I don't even use foundation most days! I'm a minimalist, but I just pay attention to my biggest flaws, with Wayne's help.

Oh Wayne. I have been watching you since you sat at a desk with a wooden door and white walls in the background. And maybe even a desk lamp? ... I remember watching you and actually learning make up techniques that I could apply to my daily routine. I could feel the love and passion you had for shaping faces and enhancing the natural beauty that we all have. No fancy background, PR hauls or other stupid shit. It's been years since then and I still am subscribed, watch to the end, and learn. It's not about all the fluff and bull shit but the actual content and person who you are. I love you as a you tuber, a make up artist, and I respect you as a person.

Part of the enjoyment of YT is to be able to create, edit and upload your own videos. If we are all going to get professional editors, then it will just become online Hollywood and it will lose the personal touch and relatability. I love that you have kept your background as it gives a sense of constancy and familiarity when everything else seems to be changing around us. Don' t stop being you. You have 3M plus people who have welcomed you into their lives, and is for a reason. The 10 individuals that email you their lack of joy and misery are only worth being ignored.

please NEVER change your background! Love it as it is! :))) This is my way of saying, I couldn't freaking care less about your background! And regarding the youtubers that make a good living out of this and forget about how lucky they are... Only hours ago a very popular female youtuber (millions of followers) posted a video called something like "$3,000 of makeup tutorial". And although I do like to watch high-end stuff and learn more about what there is make-up and skin care wise in the world, I was seriously disgusted by the fact that the same youtuber regularly complains in her videos about NOT being on some company's PR lists, hence not getting more stuff for free... I was so disgusted that I left my opinion in the comments and unsubscribed. Why? Because I hate it when people forget to be thankful and lose their head when success hits them. Most of her followers will never be able to afford the stuff she gets for free and yet she regularly finds time and place to complain about the fact that some companies don't shower her with gifts... A big no-no for me.
5Heliotrope I watched that one today as well. I usually skip these types of videos from her and others like her. There is high-end (my high-end is $20 mascara to $50 palettes) and her high-end, which is absolutely outrageous. $200 setting spray? Never could I get that and I think it's a waste of money. If I had money for that kind of stuff I would probably donate food or clothes to shelters, etc.

5Heliotrope I too watched that today and remembered her complaining in a video about companies not sending her free stuff & emails she had received from companies. She dedicated a lot of time to bash these companies & made it clear who they were in future videos. I left a comment mentioning that a real MUA like Wayne goss still has to buy everything themselves whilst she was getting a new house, free holidays a new Porsche a big wedding a room make over by the same company as Jeffree starr for free. She has a producer, editor & director & that comment was removed repeatedly from her page. It seems she didn't want people knowing the truth behind her 'success' it makes me sick that level of being detached from reality & her humble beginnings & she gives nothing to charity, shelters or even her viewers. She inboxed & just throws hundreds of pounds of make up aside as if it were rubbish without barely a thank you, it makes me sick that entitlement level. She also had 446 likes when only 8 people had viewed the video, that made me very suspicious & I too unsubscribed, it was the icing on the cake for me.

I like when it's homey. I like the realness of it. News CZcamsr Philip DeFranco was criticised for earning so much money and providing office rooms for his news staff, while he himself was filming by a desk in front of a sofa with some pillows. They argued that it was cheap and unprofessional of him. Well, no. Good CZcamsrs are relatable, no matter how successful they are. Biggest CZcamsr Pewdiepie still films at home in that small room with poor lightning, I'd say it's like 4 square feet, with an overcrowded desk and one chair. I also think it's got to do with what kind of format and tone you strive to achieve, so if you like that other sort of "fancy" thing, _you should go watch those CZcamsrs instead._
So no, not "everyone else" is doing it, I have a feeling that it's often people who feel they have something to prove, who spend way to much time their image rather than their CONTENT. DeFranco used his money to take his staff with him and buy back his channel, making sure _they_ kept their jobs and they are great researchers, which is exactly what you should spend money on when you're delivering news, not a huge, glossy studio. Pewdiepie donates millions and millions to charity. And our favourite Wayne Goss buys the makeup he uses by himself, giving us unbiased reviews and clever instructions on how to get as much out of using cheap products as well as high end stuff. He probably COULD cash in and show off all that free stuff, showing us a room of high end brands we could never afford, with a fancy backdrop, but he doesn't. Because he's a class act.

I hate it when CZcamsrs with large numbers of subscribers open the hundreds of pounds worth of free make up they have received to review/promote in front of the viewers and they're like "lets see what (name of very expensive makeup) has in their new makeup line has sent me to review" or words to that effect and they whip out this massive beautiful box of full of pre released makeup that they have been given. I've stopped watching the reviews that do that, there's no need for them to show this unboxing of as I said before, very expensive make up they are getting for nothing. The average person is lucky if they can afford to buy a few bits and pieces from some of these makeup lines and there they are with more of it than they could use in a lifetime and the best part is is the only reason they have all this is because of us, the subscribers who allow them this privilege and I think many of these people have forgotten that. I'm so glad you understand that Wayne and so happy you don't behave like that because it's starting to make me feel sick to my stomach. (Sorry for long rant but it really pisses me off!)

Love this! As a new CZcamsr, I constantly feel pressure to have a nice background but like you, there's only one place I can really film in my house that's quiet and has good natural lighting and I can't afford to redo the entire room right now. But no one seems to mind my background and some have even said that they like it better than those that look like studio sets. I think it's just me putting pressure on myself. I don't think people watching are as critical. 😊💕

I started watching your videos seven years ago when I used to live in Beijing (yes, I had a VPN so I could bypass the Chinese firewall that blocked YT, FB, Twitter, etc) and your YT channel was my little place of escape from the craziness of work/chaos of China lol. I have continued to watch your videos even after moving back to Canada a few years ago and it's comforting to see that background! I, for one, am glad you haven't changed it! What's more significant, though, is the fact you're still just as humble, down-to-earth and relatable as you used to be. A lot of YT beauty personalities make sudden changes when they start raking in the views/subscribers and that, as some of the comments from viewers make evident, has alienated a lot of viewers who see that as selling out, being fake, etc. I appreciate that you have remained true to your purpose of being on YT and never forget where you came from. I learn so much from your channel and I hope you continue to share videos with us (and enjoy making them!)

I actually appreciate that you have not changed your background, that you don’t have a team, that you don’t have the best camera, that you don’t have the best editing program, that you don’t vlog luxurious vacations, that you don’t post high end (or any) fashion hauls or lookbooks, that you don’t vlog your gym workouts and what I eat in a day. I’m so tired of people deeming themselves as so important that they have to film and show us everything about their supposedly amazing selves and lives. I honestly just deleted instagram and unfollowed a bunch of CZcamsrs (except those that I still enjoy).
