I read about Bonhoeffer in the book called "Heroes that changed the World" and I was amazed that he is one of some Germans stood up against the Nazis which cost his both freedom and life. He criticized the church both Catholic and Protestant for not doing anything or were manipulated & intimidated by the Nazis. That man is truly a saint.

I read that book, while I simultaneously read bonhoeffers book, the cost of discipleship, it changed me!! He walked out his faith knowing it would cost him everything !!! Praise God for men like him!!

I had never heard about Bonhoeffer before this trailer. But after reading a summary of him from a google search alone I'm looking forward to watching this movie and learning more about his life. You don't really hear much about prominent Christians throughout history anymore. And to see a Christian that wasn't passive in the face of great evil is very inspirational. Thank you Angel Studios!
Good luck with that, because the film to watch is the documentary of Bonhoeffer. The actor that played Bonhoeffer in this movie didn’t even look like him! Bonhoeffer was an unassuming Christian man who carried out God’s work in his life. He, as a minister of God, spoke out against the Nazi’s from the pulpit when many ministers stayed silent. When the Gestapo came for him, he told them that the only reason they were able to take him and murder him was because God was allowing it. That this was His Will, and that he Bonhoeffer was happy to follow it. Therefore the Gestapo could never claim to have been the instigators of Bonhoeffer’s demise. I encourage you to read some of his books, too.
Many years ago Focus on the Family’s Radio Theater did a piece on Bonhoeffer and introduced me into this powerful yet humble man of God.
Listen to some of his songs as well. Truly inspired. Von guten Mächten being my favorite.
Read his book, "The Cost of Discipleship". I've only read bits of it but even those are very, very good.
Bonhoeffer most of all was a pastor. You can read his ..Theory of Stupidity.. Letters from prison. He talks about the Nazi cult…he absolutely describes the MAGA cult. Search for the long version without someone making any comments in between. He had no hate.
Bonhoeffer has said wonderful things and made church songs and poems. I am German, everybody knows Bonhoeffer. Many do however not know about his life, they know him as Christian writer. When I lost a loved one, Bonhoeffer had the words that I wrote on my cards, let them print into a lamp, the words that felt healing and comforting.
I hope this story does justice to the life story of Dietrich Bonhoeffer. I grew up as a Christian in the Lutheran church, so this story is very close to my heart. I also know that Bonhoeffer visited Norway during the war as part of his work in the underground resistance against the Nazi regime.
My experience has been that the best Christian films come from the true stories of believers. I hope that Angel Studios’ new film reaches believers and unbelievers alike.

I was referring to her emojis, and I'm sure that's what she (and many others commenting on here) does mean--i.e. "standing up" to whatever she thinks are the biggest evils in society today (likely the inclusion of LGBTQ people). The irony is that in embracing this marriage of religion, nationalism, and exclusion of "others"-and in idolizing authoritarian politicians that promise to "restore" a cultural power you think you've lost (i.e. exactly what happened in 1930s Germany)-many such Christians are following in the footsteps of the very things that Bonhoeffer spoke against. There are definitely aspects of the "current culture" that we all need to resist-extreme selfishness, isolation, rampant consumerism, addiction, despair, etc. But somehow I have a feeling that's not what you're talking about. @@Faith_Southers

Without a doubt one of my favorite figures in history of all time! I’ve read Eric Metaxes book on Bonhoeffer twice and each time I just want to weep when I think about what he did. We need more Bonhoeffers in our world!

I was an extra in the bus etc following Dietrich, 3 weeks of shooting, this was show fun. Todd is such a great and beautiful person, filling people with positive energy and showing that it doesn’t come without putting the effort in.

Besides having a year to anticipate, it's a lot better to read his book "The Cost of Discipleship."
Great place to start. Read “Letter and Papers from Prison” to meet Bonhoeffer as a real person. Takes some effort to engage, but well worth it.
Yeah I read The Cost of Discipleship as a baby Christian. It set a foundation that God will use.
I just watched Cabrini by Angel Studios and it was superlative. I will watch this one. Dietrich Bonhoeffer has long been a hero of mine - I think he is a saint.
This film has the power to the beautiful critic the church needs. A lesson that remaining faithful to scripture in a time of corrupt politics and government moral failures, yet also not putting our faith in savior politicians like how so many have view trump. this is our chance to see a man be biblical and wrestle with difficulties of how that can percist in his world!

I read the Faithful Spy years ago, never forgot his story. The most beloved restaurant in Nashua is named after him.

So glad to see a movie popularizing one of the greatest men of the 2oth century-uncommon courage decency and walking the talk- alll kids should learn about this man.
I was thinking this looks lit & lensed quite well, so I looked up who the cinematographer was - it's John Mathieson!
The same DP who so wonderfully shot such films as Gladiator, Kingdom of Heaven, Matchstick Men, Hannibal, Phantom of the Opera, Man From U.N.C.L.E., Logan, and King Arthur: Legend of the Sword!

I am so thrilled for this to come out. Bonhoeffer should be a household name; his life and writings pose important challenges to us.
I am mightily impressed by Angel Studios and their achievements so far. With Chosen, then the groundbreaking success of the Sound of Freedom, which sets them up to do even higher-budgeted productions. Bonhoeffer looks visually stunning, and the true story is so compelling that I am sure the script will deliver. I am a screenwriter and it would be a dream come true to work with Angel Studios. Their films change lives, and thats exactly what films are for!
I have always been inspired by Bonehooffer. This is the kind of faith based movie I would like to see more of in theaters.
This studio is better than Disney now, and more trustworthy. I hope they start doing quality animated shows soon too. I'll be watching this in the meantime.
