Skating El Toro in 2022!? - Spot History Ep. 1

- Today we go to El Toro High School which is home to the most famous 20 stair in the world! We go over some history on the set and show off some of the incredible skating that has gone down this thing as well as explain what it would take to make the set fully skatable again. We do some dumb tricks on the set and then explore the school to see what other spots are there. Most people probably don't realize that there is a 22 stair rail at the school that has also been skated!

I really liked it the way you switched back in time and showed the tricks after talking about them.
In my head, anyone who lands a trick there is in a small league of special people. That’s badass you were able to put yourself into that elite category. You act like it’s no big deal, but a 50-50 to 180 out and filming yourself while doing, what was it, a lipslide?!, dude, that’s sick!! 🤘🏼
I was skating the quad area and saw a kid roll up on rollerblades and 180 it back in 99'. It was nuts

Oh my god, I just saw this comment right after making my comment above. I really think it was Conor O'Brien. He went to my high school and he did that down it. We were in high school from 99-03. He did it during that timeframe. I was a skateboarder but I remember him showing me the footage. He was a pro blader.

I did a boardslide down a 17 set back in 1992 and sketched out at the bottom like Joslin. I'm still claiming it as a make 30 years later!!

Mannnn Joslin 360 flip.... that'll stick in your nightmares for YEARS having a roll away Fall off like that. Artos did front board, Shane Cross over overcrook was big news when he did it. Tosh Townend feeble, Matt Mumford Smith, Nick Merlino switch Ollie it, Foy also front feeble which is insane. Clive did a regular noseblunt I think also which is maybe harder in a way. Dave Bachinski kickflip was game changing when that came out! I still think Reynolds could've handled the FS flip too! Great video though! Just added a few more :)

For me, the Dave B. Kickflip will prolly be the gnarliest. If Joslin landed his tre, that might've been the best in history. I mean, the most stairs I kickflipped was 10, and that felt scary AF. You really feel like you're in the air forever. Can't imagine how these gnarly insane skaters feel.
That tre flip counts. His truck broke. He stuck it and rode away as clean as he could've but rolled to a halt due to the broken truck. If that truck didn't break that's a make. I count it honestly. Board malfunctioned, he did everything perfectly. He counts it too.

I went to El Toro from 99-02 and my science teacher let me show the Birdhouse video El Toro part (VHS) in 99 in front of the class-it was great. Back when that happened it was the talk of the town.
I think the music made this video even more educational.

Madars' firecracker down it blows my mind every time I see it. He looks so in control of it, like he's gliding down the stairs almost. Very satisfying to watch how smoothly he rolls out of it, too.

Nick Merlino switch ollie was probably the heaviest switch ollie I’ve ever seen. He was straight up flying. Having to go that fast switch then jump down a mountain is crazy.

@@DernBrothers also another little fun fact is that the schools principals favorite thing to do on Mondays is watch the camera above the 20 to see what went down over the weekend. I went to highschool there and he told me that one day.
no one ever mentions dan Pague, he's NUTS trying that switch fs Boardslide. Paid the price too. But dang what a Legend trying that on El Toro. Still the crazest trick tried there. The back tailSlide is a close second.

hey you guys forgot to mention the back lip done down it by the guy who was on Blind for a minute, what was his name...Carlos Ruiz! he also switch 50 50 'd a 20 stair hubba, the guy was gnarly. his back lip had him floating out in space about 10 foot above the rail but he still manages to stay on it and roll away- so crazy. Also after watching Corey Duffel break both arms tryna back tail on that hubba in another vid u guys did, i'm calling out Adrien Bulards back tail as the most dangerous and therefore gnarliest trick done down the rail- that shit was crazy u can tell that gnarly frenchman just loves to get buck wild!

If your in Riverside check the fire lab 9 stair rail from what the Prod part. It’s beyond skate stopped. They put rumble strips on both top and bottom. I live like 2 min from there we used to sesh it all the time. Mainly the 3 stair and manny pad. UCR is really fun as well. All in that area.

Very cool. I know there is that set to the right that gravette did a back salad on that I think is a 20 as well and I think that 18 or 20 that miles sivas back noseblunted is somewhere around there too. For my money the sickest tricks are Arto's front board on the middle rail, adrien's back tail and jamie's front crook. Whenever I see the set I aways think back to matt mumford with the first try smith on the middle rail in the 90s.
I gotta disagree with Kanaan, his 5050 180 seems like one of the gnarlier tricks to happen... Cant think of anyone doing anything out of a grind, that rail is so steep to do that!
