Ive got a 200hp 205 gti sat in my garage, was, and still is an absolutley awesome car!
How did you get 200 out of it? Engine swap? Or throttle bodies, ecu, new headers and exhaust?
Id like to know aswel
the 207 lacks the low weight which made the 205 so good on the track
ToodlesGaming Which is impossible to replicate due to new modern crash requirements, so the 205 will never ever be truly matched.
Beware, this video is over 10 years old!
It’s 11 years old, to be exact.
15 actually
Always loved 205 gti’s. I was a young kid at their launch. Closest car to one I’ve owned was a 1st gen Swift Sport. That was incredible fun!
Shouldn't have fired the Chef du Suspension...
Safety regulations mean there have to be extra included which makes the cars heavier too. This will affect performance.
If youre intrested thats the A4059 between Penderyn and Story Arms on the Brecon Beacons
I had an 86 205 1.9 gti in 97 and it gave me endless grief.
I found the Alfa 33 more exciting to drive.
how much for the option to swap out those fugly lights on the 207?
My 205 was well built and a joy to own and drive, and for it's day it was the mutts nuts! But I've heard nightmare stories too! I guess you buy the best you can and get what you pay for. H-Reg onward where crap, and a good bit slower than earlier cars. Buy an E-F reg
The 1992/3 end of line models with the cats were down to 122bhp and like all 205 1.9 GTi's that were converted to run unleaded fuel, really needed 97 or super unleaded to compensate for that change (or you could suffer pinking).
@@tonyb1223 Okay...I knew it was something to do with emissions, thanks for the info. The older pre-cat cars seemed like they had more than an extra 8 bhp though. I loved mine, and was a great little hot hatch for it's time, but the newer cars have so much extra weight we won't ever see the likes of again..
My 205 had every year same broken front suspension parts, changed it for crx those were the days..
How about you do one of your crash test's with a 205 vs a 207 and see how you get on.
one thing i miss from having a 205 is seeing the bonnet,it helps :-(
205 is class I remember mine just the same
For quick open air motoring thrills, the best is the Peugeot 205 1.6 CTI Cabriolet.
205 GTi = Legendary
106 Rallye = Old school
206 GTi 180 = Road going WRC magnet
207 GTi = Too heavy
208 GTi = 200 bhp turbo madness
I had a 205 xs,for my first car 1.4, with 1.9 GTI bits on it. Was pretty rapid too! Would like another, but have to put a cage in it! They are flimsy AF
This also applies to the Golf GTI after the brilliant MKI the MKII was for me a great disappointment even the MKI's body shell was weak it was by far the better drive
The older Pug in this video has had no tax or MOT for 10+yrs, RIP 205GTI
Because it's in Ireland, alive and kicking on the roads only on summer days. Don't worry, she's in good hands!
Simon hall Ahhhhh congrats mate 👍
@@simohall I'm in the West of Ireland, I had the absolute pleasure of owning an 88 1.9gti and a 90 1.9gti, those were fun years, never a dull day driving to work in a pug, loved them both and would have another in a heartbeat, I got a 00 206 1.9gti in 02, it wasn't a patch on the 205 and so sorry I changed just because of the age of the 205, enjoy your pug they are bloody awesome, new cars have taken the fun out of driving.
Didn't have a gti but had 1988 1.4 sr petrol 205....and that was nippy enough drank petrol but not oil. ..and beat most off the lights
Tiff I once saw an F1 car, but I’m a racing driver Needle
fob off yeah
Just now I've seen Clarkson's car years about Peugeot 205.
I had one, a 205 gti 1.9. If i knew back then whats it worth now, i would not wrecked it....
Gti ftw
If it runs
So now the engine of 207 GTI is his biggest disadvantage
Only Peugeot what I have driven is 206 and I liked it.
Turd close up! 2:45
Steven_Duller Lol!!!:)))
106 gti was awesome old school fun but not that well handling. 208 gti is a little road muncher and fast.
1st car desil 205 was a 1985 did 1000miles for £25 in the 90"s, got to 250k miles b4 i lost it in a flood,no engine work,no exhaust or clutch change even,,had the same with a 306 (and did 135mph on the flat once)
now the important thing to remember is that the 306 gti-6 replaced the 205 gti, and thats for one important reason. its the fact the 205 Gti is a car that doesnt have independant rear suspension, and as such this little car really can take your breath away.
2:44 is this poop?
205 GTI 😚
First!!!!!
STODGY 207
My 205 gti was the most unreliable car I've ever owned.
Blown head gasket and a whole host of other things. It did handle well when it did work.
My 1.9 was fine until the head gasket blew at 152k hard miles and fairly heavily modded at 170bhp, lowered etc....genuine tested at 5.72 secs to 60 and quicker than a turbo technics 205 1.9 gti turbo lol. Build quality was the greatest though but brilliant car.
The factory installed head gaskets were awfully bad on every '90s Peugeot - made of plywood and masked with some thin layers of heat-resistant material (heat-resistant to some degree...). Aftermarket ones can last far longer even on old designs like the 205 GTis engine, just don't buy the manufacturer supplied one again.
What a dumb conclusion 🤦🏻♂️
too bad that 207 is so fugly
A 90 hp car vs a 175 hp car meh.
it's a 130hp car vs a 175hp car ;)
