- I haven't been able to get away for a bit, but I'm not going to let that stop me from camping. Is sleeping in a hammock in the backyard camping? What if we cook over a fire too?
Backyard camping has its benefits - you can try out new gear or recipes, there's no traffic and no fees, and the amenities can't be beat -- hot showers, a bathroom, power, running water. If it sucks, you can just go inside.

Love the energy of this channel. I’m 70 years old, happily married and jones’n for the “no build” build I am conceptualizing with our 23 Pacifica. I need time with some women doing nothing but sitting around a campfire telling lies! 🤣😅. You are worth a sub! Thanks for the reminder that even a backyard can be special! ❤ Sammy, our Yorkie wants in also, and I will always make room for him……….furever! ❤🐾
Thank you and welcome to you and Sammy! Now get to that no-build build 😉
Thank you! Loved watching the puppy brothers having fun! They’re happy pups 🐶 🤘🏼
It was so hard to trim down the puppy playing footage. I wasn’t sure if people enjoy watching it as much as I do or if I’m just biased 😂
You have a beautiful place!!! Such fun seeing Mr.G run n play.
Thanks for taking us along again camping, aka glamping. It was a nice, convenient, homey backyard you got there. Dinner looked delicious. Liked your dogs, luved your cats🐈.
Thanks for joining! The kitters don't get nearly enough screen time around here. 😁
The animals all want more backyard camping adventures!
Now that it's finally cool in the mornings and evenings -- that might happen!
Love your back yard and garden.
Your backyard is so beautiful - the perfect place to camp, aside from the noise. Who knew Gunther was so energetic. It was fun to see him playing. 2023, the summer that would never end in Arizona. At least it's cooled off at night and not 120 during the day. Thanks for sharing your campout.
Oh yes, when he's with his brother, it's play play play all dang day, puncuated by long naps. 😆 And yes, this summer lasted an absolute e t e r n i t y.
👍🙂😄...the air rifle in your closet. 💭 And,...what a wonderful way to wake up; a Frenchie happily snuffling in your face! 👌
Purely for plinking cans 😄
We have had *seven* months of 100°+ weather this year (2023) - isn't *that* crazy?!?!
But thankfully today, Oct 29th, I am watching this outside wearing a hoody as this AZ girl is chilled and *LOVING* it!
Same! Yep and we had to wear hoodies, walking the dogs this morning. It was fanfreakintastic!
I love your putt putt course AND that garden! It is almost November and I have a banana pepper trying to grow - the plant has only given me one big one - when first arrived in June…
Dawgs are so much better entertainment than watching tv!
Thank you! I have a jalapeño plant that has only given me a single pepper. Maybe they are cousins. 🌶️🌶️
Yappy hour is the best time of day! Thoroughly entertaining, lol. ❤
It really is!
Thanks!
Summer won't end here in the Bay Area (California). Still picking tomatoes and jalapeños.
Your pets are so accomodating. My pup would want to be inside at night if I camped in my backyard. Away in a redwood grove . . . yes. He gave up living outside in our city when he rescued me. He would be like "you do you" 😂.
LOL you got a smart kid there! 😄
Love your backyard! Beautiful!
Glad to see you n little Gunther are doing good. Looks like fun!! We live full time in a campground...20 ft rv. no outdoor camping!! Huh? No camping in a campground? Unless you RENT a tent space. No hammoks!!! So guess ill continue to sneak out n "camp" in my van..fire in fire ring...LOL!!!! Wow..camping with a pool...we dont have a pool here. 😢
That's wild! Campgrounds are so weird with their rules. Glad you're finding ways around them. 😉
Nice, relaxing hammock camp out in your really lovely back yard. I use a hammock when the “kids” (35 and older) and I head into the Boundary Waters. So much more comfortable than sleeping in a tent on the ground. I use an underquilt stuffed with goose down (or a Thermarest Z-lite mattress) to help keep my backside warm and toasty, but I imagine it doesn’t get quite as cold in Phoenix as it does in Minnesota. I loved the little cat staircase built into your fence. Very clever. I also got the same incredibly sharp folding knife based on reviews from Chef Corso on YT. He also cooks some amazing meals in the backcountry.
Your hammock set up sounds so cozy! This experience might have made me a convert.
I think the kitty stairs was my first time using a circular saw! They certainly get their use out of it. There's a cat walk at the top of the fence, and they love to post up and "guard" our property.
This was a fun change up to your usual trips. I always love seeing your beautiful backyard. I think if I were you I would’ve made my way inside with all that noise from the neighbors and fair haha! 6 more weeks should at least guarantee you cooler weather!! Hope it’s all going well. Would love an update on the garage paint job from your survey on the community tab a while back.
Thank you! We are actually in week 5 of 6, so camping is on the horizon!
The garage floor tile project is still on the agenda, but a bit far down it. We did decide on a color scheme, but I don't remember what it was. 😅
Love your backyard.
How fun! Great idea!
Jealous, live Bros Osbourne & nachos!! Plus Arizona heat just makes our fresh snow envious. 🥾⛰️🇨🇦❤️
This is the time of year that supposedly makes all the sweating worth it. 😀
I used to do that when I had a house! Loved to sleep out in the hammock. Try the frozen margarita pops- they are sooo good when summer camping! Go down way to easy…😂
There were margarita flavors in the box too, and they were a close second for me. I'm just partial to palomas. It also includes a spicy pineapple flavor, but a reviews said it tastes like vomit, so I'm kinda scared to try it. 😅
I just set up my hammock in my backyard between two trees next to my garden beds. It’s along my fence so I built a little shelf at just the right height for a flower vase, some fruit and a bottle of wine. 🥰. It’s a little high so getting in and out has some challenges so I’ve had to experiment with different coolers as step setups so I don’t need a parachute anymore to safely get out of the damn thing.
I’ve been obsessing like a Bower bird over getting it set up just perfectly.
Hope the weather cooperates so I can surprise her with it under a moonlit starry night soon.
That sounds absolutely lovely 🥰 and I’m also glad that I’ve recently learned about bower birds, so I can imagine exactly what your process looks like 😄
Loved the video!
That beats my -1 degrees f here in Great Falls, Montana last night!
BRRRR!! 🥶🥶🥶
Thumbs down...way down on 1 degree. We are mid 80s. Florida..come on down
I loved this!! I can hardly wait to do it. We are having a cold front come though. It will be in the 40's in San Antonio, Tx, WOOHOO! The bummer is that its during the week so no camping for me. But i will sit in the back at least once with a nice little fire 🔥
That sounds lovely!
@@ShoestringMartha 🥰👍
Nice. Even in urban areas, there's always birdsong first thing in the mornings. Love it. One of my favorite parts about summer mornings at home is waking up to cardinals singing full oratorios in my backyard as the sun rises. :)
Love watching the dogs play. So cute.
We got our first below-freezing overnight temps here in West Texas last night. You all cooling off yet?
The cool mornings and evenings are solidly here. It’s still pretty warm during the day, but enjoyable!
We filled the feeders in the morning, hoping to get a little bird watching in, but with all the activity, they kept their distance. We usually get a nice show.
Awesome video!
Nice to see the whole family... Too bad about dessert, but the dogs liked it!
Nice background, nice garden..
I was by your place last weekend when we went to the fair, parking sucked...
I believe it! We went on Friday and walked. It was a long walk, but worthwhile to avoid all that nonsense. 😣
have tried winter gardening inside with leaf lettuce. my plants get to 1.5 inches high an stall out. on game night a friend would break 2 - 13 x 9 pans. each pan would get 2 cans hormel chili, a lb of cheddar cheese an some salsa. in the oven for about 20 minutes to heat up. while the first was going around the table, she would make the 2nd pan. by the time the 1st pan made it around it was empty. so her portion always came out of the 2nd pan. that was a rule on game night. now quick & dirty taco night. involves 17 full scoops no broken ones. enough taco meat at 2 tsp per scoop to fill the scoops. taco cheese to top them off a generous portion of cheese, say a tsp per scoop. drizzle on some sauce & other toppings if you want them. into the mircowave for around 45 seconds. reheat the meat, melt the cheese. serve up. now why 17 scoops, as that is the number that fits on a full size dinner plate. this is a 1 dish meal. camp wise use a disposable brownie 9x9 pan for the plate, foil to cover. heat on your fire at low heat. no idea how many scoops here as i just thought of it. now i got window shopping to do, had some disposable brownie pans. used on another camp project as lids. but i thought they came with a baking lid, besides the plastic storage lid, a high temp paper foil type. oh, i know the noise routine. live a qtr mile from a local bar that has the summer band night on friday / saturday. level 15 inside the house drowning out the tv. what is the bulldog's name. used to have 2 or 3 up to a dozen cats/ kittens at times. mine did the 0200 zoomies. out of the window frame over bed. 1 down each side of me. around the apartment a couple of times then back up into the window frame.
Sounds like a FEAST! 🌮🌮🌮
That lil dude is Holland 😊
lol Too many irons in the fire. 🔥 🔥 very punny
the dad jokes are a real hazard around here!
Again a great video! Did the fur babies stay with you all night? I'm going to backyard suv camp Tuesday night. With the fire pit for awhile, then in the truck. It's supposed to be 36°F Tuesday night in East Central Georgia. That's really cold for us. Wish me luck. I'll video it to send to sisters in Denver, they're in pretty good snow right now.
That sounds fun! (other that the cold 😀) You got this. There is no bad weather; only bad clothing - bundle up!
Oh, and the dogs abandoned me pretty early on and slept inside 😞 . The cats stayed around until quite late, but I think ultimately, when I slept, they went inside too.
What kind of fake grass do you have? Im looking for one that can handle high heat, and you definitely get high heat, so I thought I'd ask. Did you do it yourself? How was it, if so.
It’s called TigerTurf. We picked it because it has good drainage for the dogs - ya know. This was one of the few home projects we did not do. Watching the process though, we thought maybe we could have handled it.
Thank you, ill look that up@@ShoestringMartha
