Interesting 🤔. Im gunna have to have a play. I like seeing the mic and all the soaps. If you put the mic in the middle, I think you would be like me and hit your head on it all day just coz!
I just made a melt and pour (your recipe) soap with SCI in it. It’s funny I’ve been seeing a lot of this going around lately. My mistake was I added other things to this batch. So it really wasn’t a good experiment. So I’m going to try again. Thank you
This was extremely cool! I think yes in certain situations it might be definitely worth it especially for the hard water 💧 customers. But to be honest I haven't come across a customer that I couldn't make happy by using some form of sugars. Either in alcohol or other forms so not sure why unless in a pinch or it was just necessary to the recipe I would use a surfactant. But you never say never in soap making right!
I tried SCI powder with your melt and pour 3 butters recipe. I remelted it and added some SCI in some if it. It kind of worked but as per usual I couldn’t help my self and added other things to that poor innocent concoction. I’m going to try again with just SCI and see.
Well that was very interesting and educational. Maybe the breaking was because it just needed to lose the water weight and get harder. With the BTMS bar maybe it needs a butter with it to make it more moisturizing? When I make hair care with BTMS, I always include at least one butter most the time two! As for the slimmy consistency I have no idea, unless it just needed time to harden more. It was weird because the one made with noodles you said was slimmy, the powder was not. Maybe that has to do with melting the noodles? With the powder you added water. That was the difference, maybe? I found this very educational and look forward to hearing more as these lose water and harden! Thanks for class today! It was a good one! Jill
Thanks for the info. I had never heard of SCI or BTMS before and I had to look them up. I am a new soaper and made my first batch right after the pandemic in 2019 and then stopped. I restarted two weeks ago.
Very interesting tests...nice bubble pay out. I do wonder why the SCI noodle and the SLSA test bars broke. I appreciate the awesome you expand our knowledge. Have a fabulous evening.❤
This was fun! Though based on your descriptions and findings I'm not thinking I'll want to try experimenting with any of these for now. I'll stick with other bubbly options. Sugars and clays and stuff. But I LOVE that shirt. Tee Turtle? I'm wearing one of theirs right now. A cat and bunny and it says "Let's do side quests together" which, honestly, feels appropriate for this video. Lol
I'll need to try this myself... the BTMS though, I'd like to think the waxy qualities are coming through the soap which is why it feels dry. Idk if you've ever played with candle wax but after awhile your fingers have a weird dryness to them, like waxy but dry. At least to my sensory sensitive self I get a waxy film that my brain interprets as dry and wants it OFF.
I wonder if those two bars would have broken if you waited 24 hours to unmould? Could you do more testing with not just ingredients but also with time? Love your channel and content. Fooey on the crazy hecklers, some people can only feel better by tearing others down.
That was my first thought, Karen. I can't wait to see how the BTMS bar comes out after a few weeks. I may have to try doing a shampoo bar with a 2-3% BTMS.
Hey! I know there are SCI/Stearic noodle blends, but mine was not a blend. But to that, stearic acid is a fatty acid found in many of our soapmaking oils - palm, shea, cocoa, lard, tallow, etc. What about the stearic acid would cause breakage, do you think?
💕💕 love testing day. Some gorgeous bubbles. Curious to see what happens in a few weeks with the lather and if they become more brittle. Thank you Mrs. Fun video
When you said the BTMS soap felt dry...and it also fell apart...i immediately thought of PALM OIL IN SOAP AT TOO HIGH A PERCENTAGE, ALSO CRUMBLE/ BREAKS...Thats why youll never see a 100%Palm soap because it makes a briitley bar...20%max❤ It Needs Moiture...yours was similar... I dont care for BTMS in anything unless LOADED WITH OILS...
the water is not even clean for each soap. and you didn't wash your hands after each soap testing, either. everything is mixed and messy. how can it be accurate at all...
A) both of those things occurred and 2) you couldn’t possibly know that they didn’t. What an actually crazy thing to say - go find someone that’s willing to hug you.
This was fun! What do you think, surfactant inclusion worth it, or nah?

Maybe? I loved the bubble pay off. It would make it more expensive to create. Would it be profitable?
Love ❤️ the tests. I do not think I will add any to my soaps. Thank you so much!!

Jill
ive had the same problems with the noodles as you just had . the bars kept breaking apart but when i ground the noodles it made a stronger bonded bar.
Great test, I love how you're willing to put yourself out there for us. I like seeing the mic but off to one side so you don't crack your head!
Cracking the head would be bad!
Well this was very interesting! The bubbles with the SCI was very cool!
The sound quality was very good, I don't mind the mic being visible. I like the test process very informative.
Thanks for the info. I had never heard of SCI or BTMS before and I had to look them up. I am a new soaper and made my first batch right after the pandemic in 2019 and then stopped. I restarted two weeks ago.
Look at all of those bubbles! Thanks for sharing your knowledge and testing.
*BTW...love the t-shirt 😉
It’s SCIENCE!!!

Yes! This is TOTALLY a side quest! Also, k want your shirt
I loved this! I am really surprised about the btms. I thought for sure it would be super soft on the skin.
I mean, even skin tests are such an individual thing!
Thanks for your input on all this topic as l have always wondered about it and prefer soap without it... cheers 🥂
Fun experiment. It was quite informative. Looking forward to how they are in a few weeks!
I’m curious about the next test .Thank you for sharing the experiments.
Thanks for this.

I can get behind that theory!
Yeaaaaaa!!!!! She’s on!!!!!

I mean, there are still halves that can be tested later on! I will update when they’ve sat for a bit!
Even if they do break, wouldn't that be advantages for making laundry detergent?
💜
We still can use them in cp shampoo bars now you got me thinking 🤔

I know right I so want to try it 😂 I love testing
Do you have a follow up video to this one?
I’ve heard the sci noodles have steric acid in them , maybe that’s why it broke in half ?

@@MrsSoapAndClay I was just thinking bc the steric acid makes a harder bar that it mights snap in half easier but who knows 🤷♀️
Thanks!
That looked like it was fun
Do you still add sodium hydroxide to them?
Hi! I’ll be back later 💕
Mrs you are a light in this world 💕
Oh yeah? Why back later? Mucking about on twitch, mayhaps? 😂
@@MrsSoapAndClay you’ll never prove it 👀👀👀

Spotted. Screencapped. Filed away. 😅

I dont care for BTMS in anything unless LOADED WITH OILS...
I’ve never soaped palm less than 30%, and I’ve made a 100% palm oil soap on this channel. Did not fall apart. So that info is debunked. 😂
What happens with cetyl alcohol?
