Conspiracy Time: Joseph lied about forgetting to record so he could play Skull Servants and it wouldn't looked suspiscious that he just kept spinning the wheel until he got it

Joe is so right on this being the funniest mirror you could have had. Basing an archetype on Skull Servant is just the absolute guy.

Crazy to believe it took so many series and so many episodes to finally see Card of Safe Return finally show off its potential and a glimpse of why it's so broken
Honestly it’s crazy in yugioh so many old cards are so broken but have nothing to take advantage of them and you never know when they’ll become relevant till Konami does something
We also saw a glimpse of it in History of Yu-Gi-Oh! when they did a zombieDAD mirror.
I love watching Cimoooooooo reexplain a card-for-card identical deck to the one MBT just explained much more succinctly. Massively entertaining seeing the difference in the explanations.
Cimo and succinct do not belong in the same sentence, unless that sentence is "Cimo's explanations are not very succinct". Cimo took 4 times as long to explain the same deck.

Skull servants are like the best meme deck ever. Cause over the years it went from cute jank deck to an extremely competent arc type. It even mixes well with a lot of different zombie arc types. My favorite is Eldich with skull servants.
I was 3-0 going into round 4 at locals and lost 2-1 to Skull Servant Eldilich (I had pure Machina). Genuinely one of the funnest matches in my entire life
Or Duel Links, with Ishizu's skill that turns everything in your opponents GY to Skull Servant.
personally, i run them with Dangers. it makes them a lot faster, because of the rng it's unstable as hell.

Archetype, and yes I love this deck to death too. I run a mostly pure variant, just to keep things on theme

Having not watched yet, I can only assume Cimo's superior luck will lead him to victory.
After watching: Surprisingly really fun gameplay! The second game was a really good back and fourth, great topdecks all around.
Game three, back to back bottomless trap hole draws. . .Oof. Cimo flexing that superior draw power.

The reactions to the mirrors are worth it. The Zorc mirror is one of my favorites.
@@Death36669 what made the zorc mirror REALLY spicy was the kuriboh tech in cimo’s deck so I hope with future mirrors they do try to change up the lists a little bit but overall I do agree that mirrors are fun
The mirrors are hilarious when they're miserable for everyone involved.
Alternatively, they could just a third person to tell them if they are on the same deck, and if so they can respin.
PLEASE do some more episodes on those decks! Thats just the time when I used to play a lot and I remember building almost all of these decks for fun and stealing games at my locals.

Oh my god Ill Weed is on the wheel. I'm actually a friend of the creater of that deck. It's actually an interesting deck and really good as well. Although it depends on who's build they use. But I know I was running an interesting deck choice or two that both of us had tinkered around with for the reasoning targets thanks to Gigaplsnt also grabbing insects.
Damage Step is the worst part of Yu-Gi-Oh, I swear.
It's a bit confusing, but not that bad. Just remember that the only cards that can be activated during the damage step are counter traps, spell speed 2 cards/quick effects that change atk/def stats, trigger effects that activate in response to the card itself leaving the field like Peten the Dark Clown or Mystic Tomato, cards that specify that they activate during the damage step like Injection Fairy Lily, and flip effects. Everything else is an auto-no. The only slightly annoying part is knowing which sub-step of the damage step stuff happens, but usually you can just use common sense (flip effect monsters apply after damage calculation, otherwise man-eater bug wouldn't be destroyed by the monster that attacked it) or the cards that apply during the damage step will often specify which substep like Injection or Grand Mole.
There was zero chance that Card of Safe Return would be activated during the damage step simply because it meets none of the criteria above.
Likewise, you cannot activate MST during the damage step on an Equip Spell card. You could activate it during the attack declaration sub-phase of the battle phase. This sounds like a distinction without a difference, but it's not.
If you had Blue Eyes White Dragon out, and your opponent summoned Cyber Twin Dragon and equipped it with United We Stand with 4 scapegoat tokens, that Cyber Twin Dragon would be at 6800 ATK. If you activate MST on the United We Stand during the attack declaration then you can destroy your opponent's the United We Stand. Then let's say he activates Limiter Removal during the damage step. Cyber Twin Dragon jumps to 5600. You'll take 2600, but it's likely not the end of the game and his Cyber Twin dies at the end phase. If you wait until the damage step, then you cannot activate MST to destroy United We Stand, your opponent can then activate Limiter Removal and increase Cyber Twin Dragon to a whopping 13,600 and it becomes an OTK.
Honestly, what's much more confusing, at least to me, are optional trigger effects and their timing. Card of Safe Return and Peten the Dark Clown are both optional trigger effects that use the phrase "when...you can" which means it has to be the very last action before play would continue for the card to properly activate. In other words, all optional trigger effects start their own separate chain so obviously they cannot be activated in the middle of a chain because there would be two chains active at once and the timing of the card would be off.
So if in Main Phase 1, MBT played book of Life, then chained Call of the Haunted or Autonomous Action Unit to Book of Life, you wouldn't be able to activate Card of Safe Return to Call or Autonomous because you're still in the middle of the chain and the final action isn't drawing a card due to Card of Safe Return, but Book of Life's special summon. This does means that you would be able to activate it in response to Book of Life *resolving* and the zombie being special summoned because the chain has ended. Card of Safe Return would then start a new chain.
Even weirder. If you played Soul Taker on Peten, you'd miss the timing. Because Peten is an optional trigger effect that can only activate when he is sent to the graveyard, as stated before, the very last event must be Peten going to the graveyard. However, Soul Taker destroys the monster *then* increases your opponent's life points by 1000, so the very last event to occur is the effect of gaining 1000 life points, not Peten being destroyed. So Peten misses timing.
Sorry for the ramble, but I figured I'd sound off on some of the more obscure aspects of Yugioh rules, especially older rules like optional trigger effects that can miss timing which thankfully Konami has long stopped adding to cards.

I kinda want to see a deck centered around Chaos Necromancer (aka worse gen maju) because I loved cheesing wins with it but I highly doubt it saw any tops
This gives me an idea. Take the Machina Ruinforce deck and edit it to be Chaos Necromancer focused.

Bro I played every single one of these decks, literally love them. Cloudians and Infernitys are my favourite archetype ever. Batteryman, GK & d-heroes are coming in close second. Here’s to watching them all!

Man this takes me back. My deck of choice at the time was basically this, except without the SS stuff, did have Il Blud though, the Gigaplant of Zombies. I distinctly remember a time where I had a full board and a set TT. Opponent played a monster and I -5 to board wipe, and THEY scooped.

There's actually a good reason why Ryu Kokki specifies Warrior and Spellcaster type monsters. It is meant to oppose Getsu Fuhma which specifies Fiend and Zombie type monsters and both are a reference to an old Konami video game called Getsu Fūma Den.

Alex could have summoned Zombie Master off Pyramid Turtle instead. He can still get over Snipe Hunter while also having the ability to revive the Pyramid Turtle that died. This way he has Ryu Kokki in the back instead of the front, ensuring that it'll be one of the last things on the field during Joseph's battle phase (via Pyramid Turtle sitting there obviously).
This play would have also let him set King of the Skull Servants if he pitched the regular Skull Servant, avoiding Spirit Reaper's wrath.
Honestly, DAD format without DAD looks really fun! Maybe should develop a meta around it?

My favorite deck, back in the day, was a big city variant called macro city. The idea is to out resource your opp using e hero voltic with skyscraper and macro cosmos to bring back Stratos to search or another voltic
As well as cads like d.d survivor and neos alias.
This was my deck at my local tournament spot. Boy it was jank but when it worked it was so fun, everyone knew me as "the skull servant guy" lol

Card of safe return can activates when your opponent summons from the gy too not just when you summon from the gy
This series does play by old rulings: "If your opponent uses "Monster Reborn" to Special Summon a monster from your Graveyard, you get to draw a card."
but the card clearly says When a monster is Special Summoned from *your* Graveyard, you can draw 1 card.

I wish Skull Servants had an extra deck monster. I already use extra deck monster that let me attack directly with King, but it would be nice to keep it in the archetype (not that I'm asking for a card that let's them attack directly).

Minus the crush card, this was literally my Skull Servant deck
You don’t even have to go back as far as Oct 2005/Reaper Format to see the skeleton of this deck in action. COSR Zombies was a Tier 1 deck in Sept 2007/Perfect Circle format, and this Skull Servant deck is basically that just swapping out the Creature Swaps, Giant Rats, and Il Blud for the Skull Servant stuff.

Cloudians was one of my fav playground decks
Game 1 Cimo could have summoned Zombie Master off of his pyramid turtle instead of Ryu Kokki, killed snipe hunter with zombie master, MP2 discard skull servant to summon back the pyramid turtle, then lastly normal summon king of the skull servants since he hadn't normal summoned that turn, which would have 2000 attack. But instead he just summoned Ryu Kokki, set skull servant, and passed. RIP.
Lightning vortex doesn't destroy defense position monsters, I only know this because there was a space of 5 years where I couldn't afford raigeki, so I was still on that card from the before times
Skull Servant is my most favorite deck of all time. I am still hoping for a skull servant-only version of "Grass is Greener", 60 card Skulls with GG did indeed often make for a GG.

I encountered king of skull servants the first time in Master dual playing a zarc deck I would first summons archon the second turn and then got destroyed by 3 11000 atk king's and had no clue what was going on

Please tell me the Destiny End Dragoon deck is playing Fusion Gate + Chain Material. That was so much fun summoning 3 in one turn back in the day.
