It also loses to certain one card Synchros too which also really hurt it's chances to take off. Being 2000 ATK made it just a tad bit too fair for it's time. When Monster heavy decks started become more of a thing.

My favorite way to play control decks is with an "Aggro button", so they can actually win after shutting down the initial plays. Before I started playing ygo competitively, the only archetypes I could name would be zoodiac and for some reason naturia. So yes I thought naturia was as powerful as zoodiac based on name recognition alone

Used to love scraps in Yugioh WC 2011 for the DS. Best thing was it was so easy to convert into a Turbo Duel Deck because it didn't rely on archetype exclusive spells and there was a Speed Spell Scrapstorm that I could run

Try monarch/naturia combo can't special summon, can't use spells and traps, can't use monster effects. All you need is a moon mirror shield for bamboo and you are pretty set.

To be fair, Naturia is one of those archetypes that's just not allowed to be good on the grounds that it could be a very oppressive deck to play against with the right support.

This is very interesting because both of these decks got exactly one card of support later on that gave them a very short window of playability; Naturia Sacred Tree allowed Traptrix Naturia to be a decent control deck, and Scrap Factory allowed Scraps to be a solid combo deck. I think aznpersuasion played Scraps around that time and topped an event.
