    Thank you SO much. This worked PERFECTLY for me. My regulator had been replaced by a plumber about 10 years ago and failed last month. The inside was a rusted mess, although the only thing actually 'broken' was the small rubber O ring. I ordered the repair kit from Amazon for around $60, and with a couple of hours work (the two plugs at the bottom were frozen solid and needed a lot of work to remove which added an hour) I saved a $400 (or more) plumber's visit to replace the valve. The only difference between my 1" device and the one in the video was that the new stem was not a threaded stud at the top , but instead was a tapped hole so the diaphragm was attached with a supplied bolt instead of the nut in the video. It all went together exactly as described otherwise, and when it was done I turned on the water and no leaks and set the pressure for for 65 psi using a meter I had. Excellent no nonsense video. Grateful for your time in posting this.

    So that's why the bell housing is shaped like that--because there's a big compression spring inside. I always wanted to know that. Great video. Thank you.

    Worked great. Thanks for giving me the confidence to try the repair myself. I will confess that I have checked it for leaks a few times since I did the repair last evening, but I am a little paranoid about water leaks. Nice to have it working again.

    The instructions were terrible and I had a leak! Your video was perfect as I had the friction ring installed on the wrong side. Thanks!

    Thank you so much! I was just replacing faucet cartridges and a friend said it might be the regulator. Got the same one you have ;) and sure enough, I have 118psi :( I'll get the kit and give it a go! Can you help me better understand what "not over tighten the plunger" means? Also, when I reassemble the plugs should I add teflon tape or anything like that? I subscribed to your channel because of all the help in this video! Thank you again!

      I posted the video 2 years ago and needed to watch it to jog my memory. LOL!
      Just snugly tighten the plunger… don’t use much muscle. Use the gaskets in the kit and Teflon tape won’t be needed. Hope this helps. 😎

    This is very good to know about it's, but do they sales those repairs kits for us and where to buy it from? Thank you so much for showing us how to repairs this

    • @HacksbyDad
      @HacksbyDad  Před 2 lety

      Thanks for the question.
      Yes, the repair kits are for sale to the general public at many plumbing supply stores. Click the “ Where to Buy” button on the Zurn Wilkins website to find a dealer near you. I also placed an Amazon link for the 3/4” pressure reducing valve in the video description. Confirm if yours is 1/2, 3/4, or 1”. Good luck with the repair!

    How big are those large pipe wrenches?

  • @itslegitkid6222
    @itslegitkid6222 Před 2 lety

    Does it mean mine is bad if the water is surging ?? It’s not a constant flow

  • @itslegitkid6222
    @itslegitkid6222 Před 2 lety

    But it only happens when I use the washing machine ?

    • @HacksbyDad
      @HacksbyDad  Před 2 lety +1

      Surging? I’m not a plumber but maybe it’s water hammer. Might be that the water inlet valve in the washing machine is faulty. You can try removing the hoses on the machine side and running the hot and cold water into the laundry sink. If no surging, then it is probably something to do with the washing machine.
