    You can use a small piece of white bread stuffed in the pipe to hold the water back until you get everything soldered, then just forget about it and the bread will break apart naturally and go down stream when you turn water back on.

    The main house shutoff valve should have been swapped out to a ball valve & re-located, to be situated immediately after the city shutoff valve (prior to the pressure reduction valve).

    Did you skip a step at 7:56 in this video? After applying the flux, don't you have to heat the pipe and apply solder to sweat the joints?

      It is a compression type connection where Teflon would be unnecessary

    Does the PRV go after the shutoff valve or before ? Just wondering if it really matters

      They usually have one after the PRV valve where I live, so it goes the street shutoff, interior shutoff, PRV, and another at the water heater.

    Why not rebuild as much of the whole section offline as you can? And replace the rotary knob with a nice new lever shut-off valve?

    I would of replaced the shut off valve & the water faucet to avoid any leaks or failure...It avoids problems down the road ...

    Thank you for the plumbing share sir. I think
    your outdoors which has me puzzled, unless
    this is a tropical island where it never freezes.
    How is this prudent or code legal if in USA where every state is subject to a freeze if rare.
    Never seen a pipe through a side walk. As we
    have learned when buying older homes one is
    often chasing bad carpentry & plumbing. Not
    sure why waterline was not buried under sidewalk, then into structure. For young home
    shoppers a good home inspector will point out all the code compliant issues. Best of luck

      In San Diego CA, all older homes have the water pressure reducing valves outside. It never gets below 45 😅

      @@ko6128 A pressure reducing valve (PRV) also acts as a check valve. When the cold water feeding the water heater expands due to temperature, it doesn’t have anywhere to go other than out the T&P relief valve which is why they drip when no expansion tank is installed. The expansion tank gives the water somewhere to expand to without opening the temperature and pressure relief valve and dripping

      @@joshbarron4415 ok. So with a tankless water heater, the hot water is flowing out a fixture. Doesn’t that path give the pressure somewhere to go? Thru the open fixture.

      @@ko6128 Yes it does but only when it is open. The most common complaint is people find their temperature and pressure relief valve valve dripping in the morning because the heater was heating at night and the increase pressure had no where to go bc there wasn’t an expansion tank and no one was awake to use any of the fixtures.

      Perhaps 15-20 years although there are rebuild kits which will keep them running even longer. It also depends on how hard your water is.

    Coba pipa plastik PVC jebol dah semua kare a maximal nya 8bar kecuali yang upvc warna abu abu 10 bar masih aman

      No! Typically they are factory set around 50 psi and top out at 75 psi depending on which one you have

      @@SparkyChannel Hi Bill. But if you replace that old shut off with a quarter turn ball valve, you'll make sure that you don't need to worry about the seat washer or packing going bad on that old shut off.
      Also, did you ream the cut ends of the copper line before soldering to remove any burrs and taper the ends to reduce turbulence in the line?

    I know it all depends but want some advice and input. Is it okay to install a PRV in place of a gate valve. Would there be any harm in doing that. Saves me work and digging. I live in a house with foundation. Please feel free to give me advice. Tes my gate valve is on the ground about 5 feet from the main city shut off

      No, your house needs a valve so that you can turn off the water to the house. It would be bad to eliminate it. Use both the PRV and a good quality valve.

      Honestly, what's the purpose of the gate valve if it's only like 5 feet away from the main shut off valve to the entire house. Could I just not use the valve I could care less for that valve. I can use the main shutoff valve for that
