One of the few stars to peak as a rookie
Just like Michael-Carter Williams😆
Nah, simply wrong. He was rookie of year in 2018 then next three years he was 3x all-star, all NBA, all NBA defensive team. He didn't peak in 2018 but in 2021.
@@vlada go look at his totals and per game numbers on basketball reference. Everything downhill after year two
Ben Simmons is the GOAT of off seasons.
star is a misnomer
Next Season should be his farewell tour. And every Arena on road games should show on the jumbotron highlights of him sitting on the bench in different fancy street clothes. End it with "THANKS BEN" and cut to him sitting on the bench in street clothes. Sums up his career.
😂😂😂
No fax dude needs to be clowned hopefully get that dog in him. How you 6’10 with low confidence
I remember the talk: ‘who should the Sixers keep, Embid or Simmons?’ And a lot of the evidence said Simmons was the smart choice because he was more of a winning player. Damn shame
What reminds me the most is what is happening with the Philadelphia water that they have basically lost two number one draft pick
A player who always post his training on social media and all talk
I'll remember him as a guy who simultaneously lost confidence in his game in a playoff series, something many players have gone through and suffering a back problem. But fans ignored the latter and blew the confidence issue completely out of perspective because their are a lot of a-holes on the internet. As someone who's suffered with back problems, they are debilitating and even when they are mildly annoying they still affect everything you do. I feel for the guy.
He lost his confidence in his 4th season, but for 3 full seasons people were saying "he's pretty good, but his lack of shooting is an issue". And he continued to act like he was better than he was, refused to admit that his lack of change was his problem, blamed the fans, and by year 3 of actually playing everyone knew you could sag off him because he couldn't shoot and he became a joke. Great defender, great passer, but changed zero about who he was and because of that he became the most predictable player.
I don't care about the 40 point game with Embiid out, I don't care about the defensive stats. He was such a hole on offense, especially in the playoffs, it was a joke.
In 10 years he'll be most remembered for sitting on the Nets bench in the clown outfit.
@@djrt8179 How did he "continue to act like he was better than he was, refused to change and blame the fans". It's these type of nonsense presumptions I'm referring to.
@@djrt8179nigga this has nothing to do with his back
@@themetalpig7613 you can’t think of one example of how he refused to change?
@@themetalpig7613he literally refused to play even though he was healthy and under contract. Just bc he was exposed and embarrassed. That is the ultimate disrespect to fans. He might not have “blamed” them but he definitely doesn’t care about fans. He’s made comments about fans booing, he said it’s funny to him that fans care so much. He thinks he’s better than the average joe. Ben Simmons really has no redeeming qualities.
There is one thing in common that doomed the careers of Blake Griffin, Miles Austin, Reggie Bush, Kris Humphries, Lamar Odom, and now Ben Simmons: the Kardashians. Something about athletes once they get involved with that family just sucks the life out of them.
Devin booker
@@joglsen5614 He's doomed.
Who knew Trae Young's defense was so 'on point' that Ben Simmons would think twice at an open layup and decided to pass out to a teammate?
remembered as a weird rookie of the year trivia answer.
Very well said Trey! 👏🏾👏🏾
I don't think he will be remembered. Maybe in a decade after he retires. Not too long after. He'll appear on the occasional draft bust rankings.
Thing is, he's not a bust. Not like the classic Anthony Bennet/Bagley/Stauskas/Bender busts.
You can't be called a bust if you were 3× All-Star, All-NBA 3rd Team, 2x NBA All-Defensive Team , Rookie of the Year.
I'm really not sure how to call this but it's not a bust.
If he appears on Draft Bust list that’s hyperbolic. He was incredible.!!!! ELITE DEFENSE…!!! He licked Tatum up in the playoffs before his mental breakdown .
@@vlada you're right, draft bust is an overstatement. More so just.... A disappointment? Like, the kind of player that couldn't live up to his potential kind of result. You know what i mean.
A lot of talk about the yips/mental side of the game, but the back injury was just as detrimental in my opinion. His whole game was built on being a 6'10 guy who moved like a guard, could defend 1-4, handle the ball, get to the rim, etc. He just looks so stiff now whenever he plays on both ends, doesn't have anything close to the mobility he had pre-injury
💯
For me, when I take out the trash.....he remembers me of that.
Ben Simmons remembers you as his garbage man?
If we remember BRoy, we'll remember Ben i think
who?
@@DzejmanBrandon Roy
As a sixers fans I was hyped when we drafted him after the 3rd I was like oh hell nah dude ain't it
Just doing my annual Fultz defending... he didn't forget how to shoot, he had a syndrome in his shoulder making it hard to raise his arm... also I feel sympathetic towards Simmons, as far as we know in the public eye he hasn't done anything to deserve this tragic career so I hope he can bounce back just in life in general
A syndrome that developed from a motorcycle accident in the off-season before joining up for his first pre-season. It compromised his shoulder and has seen him unable to adjust his form to get the accuracy he showed in college and youth basketball. Real shame.
As an overhyped underachiever. They were comparing him to bron before the draft. Had a few good seasons
lebron himself tweeted that ben was the next king, along with crown emojis.
@@drew199171 LeBron's really not that bright.
@@dimitrijetucovic1307 unlike Jokic and Doncic right? Nobody can be as bright as them in your eyes
@@pex3 What the fuck are you talking about dude? 🤣
Rookie of year, then 3x all-star, all NBA and all defensive all from 2018 to 2021 then mental problems/back.
Hall of Fame Finesser
Bench Simmons at it again!
Remembered? He should be forgotten 😅😅😅
Will be remembered as a face of Brooklyn Nets franchise.
As a hall of famer
Nah, happy Sunday everyone
lol
As a guy who fleeced everyone.
Man I hope he has a redemption arc left in him. Maybe not another all star year, but at least playing 70+ games for a good team & featuring in the play offs again would be great to see
I feel like had 76ers drafted Tatum over Fultz OR kept Bulter and Reddick, it'd have changed Simmons' career's entire trajectory
In 5 years the highlight videos will start to pop up: BEN SIMMONS WAS A PROBLEM
Ben Simmons was never more athletic than Giannis lmfaoo
I gave up on him earlier than most. He's dead and gone. I dont know where his dedicated fan boys are getting their hope at this point.
I think people will remember he was really good. There have been plenty of NBA stars who have fizzled out early due to injury or mental issues. We usually remember that they were great at one point. We remember Andrew Bynum, Deron Williams, Larry Sanders, Roy Hibbert, Brandon Roy, DeMarcus Cousins, etc. I'm not saying that those situations are comparable or that all of those players were at exactly the same level. But my point is that I think we're better than we think at remembering context.
Cmon man, I get your point but when was the last time anyone brought up Larry sanders or Roy hibbert? Haha
@@durantulaftw Roy was just mentioned on club 520 podcast (Jeff Teague) hoopers going to talk hoops not just the stars 🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️ “haha”
Sixers drafted one guy who didn't know if he shot left or right hand, another guy who forgot to shoot and a third guy who always underperforms when the pressure is high.
Simmons had 4 all star seasons (counting ROY as one) and then it cratered like few have done.
Back pain from all the sitting
He will be remembered very fondly by his bank and his financial investment companies, but for us sports fans, it's a memory we would like to erase.
The last time Ben was a good player was when you guys were still the starters let that sink in 😭😭😭😭
Remembered by Adidas for getting ROY in soph season over shoe brand ambassador Donovan Mitchell
I’m still holding out hope he can at least get back to how he was as a rookie
Sant ain't real, man.
Rooting for my fellow Oceania man. But Fultz had a better career, honestly.
As a talented guy unfortunately riddled with injuries but also as a coward. Both.
To be fair. Alot of ben's three attempts were on end of quarter heaves. So although i agree he cant shoot. He more so simply doesnt shoot.
Is homie dead?
No but his career is
as a quitter and wasting roster space.
Will be remembered for being unable to shoot a fish into the ocean.
wery well paid per point
The question rests on a false premise
Remembered? Do we actively remember Greg Oden?
Not even remotely close to being the same. Oden is in the Antony Bennet category: a never was.
@@vlada You mean Anthony Bennett. And Bennett never remotely had a injury riddled career. Lol. So your statement is 100% false.
"What if"
he’s scared to play, that simple, idk if i buy this back “injury”
Lmfao. If I'm Trae Young and I make the HOF, my highlight reel/vignette ABSOLUTELY has to start with Simmons passing up that wide-open dunk.
It's ok, a career full of failures will have its own highlight fails
I will always remember him as a highly overhyped dude, who cared more about fame than basketball.
I don't like Ben Simmons, but I never wish anything bad to happen to a player and his career.
I hope NBA fans still appreciate what Simmons had brought to the league.
He's basically a huge Rondo with no shooting, no mamba mentality, and injuries. Tobias Harris is better than him.. fin.
Mamba mentality; Inefficient shooting?
@@DrPhill96 Better than no shooting.. aka passing up wide open under the basket game clinching shots..🤷🏾♂
@@LeagueofThieves - Still ass. Just ass with a cult following. Like Melo and AI.
I have been saying that for years: the boy needs medical metal help, but in the NBA it is a taboo and they prefer to sink the life of a person instead of helping them.
medical metal so what like Heartwork by Carcass?
As one of the biggest cowards in sporting history, he is a disgrace to this great game and the fans.
I still can't believe he is a bust now. ppl told me he was the next LeBron ?
He'll be remembered that the NBA will draft you very highly even though you don't know if you shoot with your Right or left.
Hell be remembered as another mentally weak player on a team that kept drafting them.
It's the guys from the Starters!!!!! I miss that show - it was WAY more fun whatever this sh*t is
Thanks for coming back
for those who do remember him he will be a bust, most will forget he even existed
Enjoy your money bro!!!
hope he invests well because he’s using a lot of it on his wardrobe
The man who got millions for free and did not do anything pretty smart gets paid for watching everybody play
For being hopeless
Like a running joke
Ben Simmons has been a nerve impingement on the league for years good riddance.
Yall overhyped him he was never great and in the playoffs he was the biggest liability coaches didn't even guard him in the playoffs Joel would get doubled all game
I don't really believe In his Injuries anymore
Ben = overpaid BUST
Dude was never a great player especially when he was a liability without a jumper. I would definitely remember him as being spoon fed and entitled.
How will he be remembered? A freaking millionaire who did very little.
please just move on.
Hall of fame money stealer
No one will remember him. In 20 years, they will be like who?
Be gone. Overrated and overhyped "star".
fraudulent
He won't.
How will be be remembered? He won’t.
He'll be remembered for being a mentally weak, gifted athlete who ultimately couldn't overcome his demons and struggled with nagging injuries.
How will he be remembered?
He won't.
The issue is that Philly chose Simmons over Butler. Maxey was a late enough pick that they very well would have ended up with him regardless.
Wasn't it Elton Brand that chose to pay Tobias Harris over Jimmy Buckets?
A guy who didn't work hard
Ben who?
