So what you're saying is it's the bike not the rider. I'm ok with that.
🤣
LOL! Legendary! I guess I better buy a damn Altitude right away then! ; )
@@Windband1 probably not a bad idea.
@@JesseMelamedMTB ;)
Are you trying to tell me I should go get an Altitude right now?
Because of you guys I changed my mind and I will be buying a Propain Spindrift. Thanks
Also it's one hell of a good looking bike!
@@tinoschneider6350 yeah I have seen some in person but only last years model
Mine is ordered and all👊
@@martincantwell2557 will be ordering one soon hopefully it wont take long to get here otherwise i might get the Tyee
@@martincantwell2557 what components did u get bud
"Propane and propane accessories" Yes! You snuck that in nicely! Hank Hill thanks you.
Propain Spindrift 😍😍🔥🔥💪🏼
100% the best
Bought it yesterday 🔥🔥
Nomad is better
@@LMHoopClips 🤡🤣
I wish the commencal clash was on this list
i just ordered the 2021 model, would've been hype to see it
They probably didnt have it beacse it was in the previous field test.
@@adamrodrigues2100 oh fr when?
Totally agree
Would love to see the nomad comparison. I got on an old geo bike recently after buying a new bike with modern geo. Really didn’t like the way the older model felt. I felt like I was way over the front tire, and could be bucked at any moment. Also felt like the cranks were way to far ahead of me.
I would like to see the altitude comparisons
I would love to see a series where they do a comparison on popular bikes through the generations due to geo changes, changes in suspension design, etc. It would be awesome to see the old versions of our favorite bikes in action. My first "real" mountain bike was an old santa cruz nomad 1, and I loved that thing until I upgraded to something newer and realized what I was missing out on with modern geo
Would love to see a Nomad generation comparison vid! Do eet! 🤘🏾
Hell Yes.
me 2
They still haven’t done the mega tower
That'd be really interesting.
DO IT DO IT DO IT
I liked this format with questions being pitched to Kazimer. He responded really naturally without having to worry much about script. Good job guys.
That propain is fucking beautiful
But only the colour, in the Geometry Slash wins!!
@@SmokinJoe1 Not exactly sure at which geo aspect is Slash winning against SD....surely not with that seat tube angle. Tested the XL couple months ago and it felt like i am sitting above the rear axle. Not pleasant to pedal at all.
Do that generation test with the Nomad and maybe with a good 29er too!
I want this so much that I liked my own comment for this, so go for it Pinkbike!
Megatower is on the market why do you need the Nomad.
Absolutely, minus that 29er.
@@hunterwright386 and why is that?
Do you own a 29er?
I have 26,27.5, 28 and 29 inch bikes and every single one of them has its specific use.
For longer tours which involve some annoying fireroad uphills, but also chunky rocks on the descents I prefer the 29er very much, because it’s rollover capability and the way it holds speed is definitely superior to the smaller wheelsizes.
For the Jib factor however, I prefer smaller wheelsizes too.
Hell, I’d even buy a Santa Cruz 5010 with 26 inch wheels if it would be available!
So stop the hate in different wheelsizes unless you own each bike and know exactly how they handle!
Specific tools for specific jobs my man..
Do it with the Stumpy!!!
"The trek slash has the biggest downtube protector I've ever seen"
Canyon cable channel cover: hi
I'm happy with my Megatower, but it's still fun to watch these videos.
You guys should definitely try to do the Nomad generation comparison. Especially if you can get them all the same size (L, probably). It would be really neat to see a ghosted overlay of the bikes that would show how the geometry has changed over the years.
Thanks putting out great content despite the travel restrictions. This series was really enjoyable and I'm already looking forward to more.
Absolutely the Propain Spindrift!!! I think this bike is one of the most beautiful model ever and the best thing is that it's not EXPENSIVE!!!! Bye guys and thanks
3 YEARS LATER.... yes, the Spindrift is the most affordable in the bunch. and don't let that form any opinions that it's a "cheap" company.. Propain makes carbon frames as good as anything else out there. and i just got a spindrift frame only for $2249 USD. compare that to a yeti sb140 Turq.. at $4300 for just the frame HAHAHA
Propain all day, son!
This is great,I like the way you both agree and have different opinions on the bikes you test. It fills a lot of options. Thanks
I’m so glad the comparison between last years winner and this years winner was brought up. With no changes this year I didn’t expect it to be in the test, but it’s definitely nice to hear how similar bikes stack up in the same category. Thanks for the killer discussion!
Can't wait for my spindrift!
Great picks lads. I envy you guys for being able to try so many great bikes so thoroughly! Great reviews as always.
saving up for a Spindrift. Thanks for the review guys.
Glad you answered everyones question about these stacking up to the enduro!
I agree. I just got the 2021 Enduro and wonder how they stack up.
Hey, I love both of you guys, keep the great content coming!
Testing evolutions of a frame design would be a GREAT video, I'm anticipating it now
@Pinkbike Yes please!
Love that they made a new nomad. Love my 2020 Hightower, but I do kinda miss riding a 27.5er at times.
Evolution of the Nomad? Yes please... DO IT! 👍👍👍
Great job guys! That was fun. thanks.
My Trek Slash 9.8 should be here in a couple weeks.. Super stoked!
I have one and it’s sick!
super helpful review guys! thank you!
All very nice bikes . I have a 2021 trek slash 9.8 and it's been great . I do wish it could take 2.6" tires out back . I found the full down tube protection great for tailgate travels .
I would love to see all evolutions of the Nomad. Great idea
Id definitely like to see a video on all generations of the Nomad! Such an iconic bike!
Comparing iterations of the same model would be really interesting.
I enjoy watching your videos, thank you.
Awesome content as always, thanks! Curious as to why you chose to review the spindrift and not the Tyee from Propain? Wouldn't it fit the enduro/freeride segment a bit better?
+1 for the Full Nomad test episode
Shredheads of the northwest. Rockin content. Merry Christmas. Last year i do remember you all breaking a Rocky huckin to flat i believe.. 👄
Yes! Re-test old bikes. I'd like to see how my 2014 Trance stands up as a trail bike against todays Trance/trail bikes.
guys this it was a perfect experience. how to pick up the correct bike. no all the bikes are made for the same terrain. this video is another example. thanks guys.
Those B-rolls are sweet! I can't wait to go back to BC and also visit Bellingham to finally ride those trail gems 😍
As a Nomad V4 owner, I'd love to see that Nomad video!
Thanks guys!
I want to see a Stumpjumper generation comparison vid
Let's have that Nomad evolusion test!!!!
Interesting reviews!
I keep hearing great things about Rocky Mountain, one day I'll demo one.
A bit off topic, I can't believe Santa Cruz is still a popular brand. Years ago I demo'd a Tallboy and Ibis Ripley back to back and felt the Ripley was light years ahead in terms of pedal efficiency up and down! I never road a SC bike again until early this year.
I demo'd a Hightower and wanted to love it. It pedaled great on the street, but when I got to the trails, especially climbing, it didn't track very well and wandered a bit. Maybe this could be a tire issue or shock adjustment? I currently ride a Ripmo and that thing is literally glued to the trails up and down w/o any adjustments.
After all these years Santa Cruz still doesn't seem to have it right, yet people still seem to buy them. Am I missing something, or am I correct?
Also, it would be great if PB did a new review of the 'best bang for your buck' MTBS for $2K USD or less. My moral budget is $3K currently and this year with my Ripmo ( V1 Carbon) I spent about $4K after upgrades so I didn't get too far out of budget. I got a good deal on a NX build, then upgraded the brakes to SLX and GX drivetrain which I felt were necessary. I do notice bikes are getting more and more pricey though - the average price is getting higher. I might lower my budget further with future bikes, being a weekend warrior at best. I don't plan to go Pro any time soon at almost 50...LOL. I do love getting out there and keeping my ass in shape! I surprise myself sometimes with passing guys that are half my age on climbs, which feels good...LMAO!!
I like that idea of testing generations side by side. I’d like to see that with the demo 8
Totally agreed on generational testing, especially one with 3+ true iterations.
Oh boy Oh boy this nomad video would be awesome! Gr8 idea.
Nice review guys! Mmm by the way did you planned to review the new Commencal Meta AM? Given the bikes you tested I think it's a good idea 🤔
Cheers ✌
Yes! Please a Nomad Generation Test!
I loved this wohle series! Nice camera views, nice music and nice testers! =) I am Team Propain Spindrift.
Def do all evolutions Video of the NOMAD !!!
Great vids guys. What bikes do you own and do you have favs. A test on generation bikes would good too. Santa, Giant, Trek, stumpy, enduro. Well trail and enduro. As you two ride different terrain..keep up the good work...merry Christmas from Christchurch NZ
we need all generations Santa Cruz Nomad test!
Nomad comparison would be sick!
Would love to see the nomad comparison!! Just be sure to go include the old 26” versions!
My money on Slash all day! 🤘🤘
I wish the Canyon Torque was on this list
Interesting! Thank you! I had the new Altitude and I felt the bike was somewhat inefficient and kind of knocked me around more than I would like. Ended up with a new Santa Cruz. I find the efficiency to be much improved and takes the big hits a bit better.
I came back to this comment and i sold the santa cruz and have had alot of bikes sence then
Any thoughts or comments on Norco Sight vs. Rocky Mountain Altitude? How does climbing and “trail” ability matchup between them?
I can’t wait for next years field test with even cooler bikes and I hope they can do a downhill section
And dirt jumpers
Do a stumpjumper comparison from first generation to present!!!
Still waiting for the all-Nomad comparison throughout the generations haha for real!
I would love to see the generation comparison, especially for the specialized enduro
YES. Another great generation comparison.
Norco Sight or Norco Range would also be great
Thanks! Now, I’m definitely gonna go with nomad. :)
thumbs up on the different generations of nomads, that would be rad!
Levy, we want a multi-generation test!
All. The. Nomads!!!!! PLZ. Would love that.
Loved this, thanks! I'd really like to see the Nomad gathering. I still have a v3 (180mm front/rear with oversized 2019 X2 in the back) and I freaking love that bike.
Height and bike size? I am 5ft 9 with shoes on and don’t know yet which size I should pick on the new Nomad, M or L.
@@ioannisparaskevopoulos1120 Dunno man, I'm 6'1 and size L fits me. I would probably go with M in your case because you'll be able to fit a longer dropper post.
i'd love if you could look at the radon swoop , kinda fits in
Sad you didn't have M/L size Slash for comparison, it has exactly the same reach as Spindrift and Altitude.
Nomad evolution, please! Great idea! 🤘
+1 for the Full Nomad test episode
Yeeeeeeesssssss. Finally. Beeen waiting
If I ever get I chance to buy Dream bike I will take Evil Bike Wreckoning or Santa Cruz Nomad. I just love their Design tbh.
the norco looks fun
Same here id pick the RM also.. disappointed on the Shore, my uzzi is aluminum and 33 lbs with 190mm coil sprung bike.
Revisit the slayer!
Wow that Norco is a tank.
As a person who's only has owned Santa Cruz bikes, I just placed an order on the altitude c90. I wanted to try something different. I love my xo1 tallboy and XT hightower.
Yesssss it’s finally here
This is all I’ve been waiting for
Same
Do a comparison of the previous Specialized Enduro generations too.
I feel like this is a great review, a nice departure from previous reviews and biased opinions stated as facts. It's nice to see the boys listening to viewers and readers feedback and adapting their journalism to suit. We want to know what is plush, what is efficient, which is the best descender ect in context to other bikes ect, this is exactly the kind of useful info we need...true comparative reviews that the viewers or readers can relate to combined with actual facts and mechanical knowledge not only opinions and 'feelings'. It's nice to see this kind of review, ofc opinions and banter is still welcome too but some hard facts and the reasons behind them is the main reason most people read or watch reviews.
So sick
Something that’s been driving me crazy, the intro, the truck has a tailgate pad and the vertical bike rack. Haha
Why??? Maybe they want to carry lots of bikes? If only they were using that same vehicle to move multiple test bicycles.
@@dan1one I don’t think it’s feasible to use both at the same time. I would like to see it in action if it is. Would make an awesome shuttle set up.
Do the generation tests on popular brands please!!!
Kazmer could you review some revel bikes (rail or rascal)? Would love to hear your thoughts
Rocky takes it 💪 I sleep in my garage next to my '18 Slayer. Seems like the new Altitude could replace it in the next year or two without me giving up anything.
They pedal, accelerate and feel like DW-Link bikes. And that’s a huge plus.
The cons it has many bearings to keep up with and eventually develop creaks.
The specialised enduro is like riding a cloud you can bomb down any steep stuff and feel super planted also pedals great uphill.
It also costs an arm and a leg
@@samuelhilsden8435 im not going to lie it does cost alot.
Could you guys do a review of the new yt Capra shred
That’s what I thought
Lame uphill - Fun downhill
Yes, a Shred vs Spindrift would be interesting!
Yup
The nomad is pretty sweet. I am thinking these days trail bikes are where it’s at. The new fuel is crazy. They are beating it up jumping it and doing things I do on my old 27.5 trek slash actually more than I am capable of doing. Then the fuel type of bikes are climbing better
Kazimer should be on a M/L at 5'11 that would change things up quite a bit. I'm 6'1" perfect for me or even a tad long.
Levy is right. You guys need to do “Generations serious” where you ride different generations of the same bikes! That would be awesome.
Nomad or Slash is what I'm deciding.
Which would you guys pick? And which spec/tier from that bike is best bang for the buck.
I personally don't want to spend too much for a slash or nomad, I'm just looking at the basic tier.
How do you guys feature a bike? does bike companies reach out to you or the other way around?
would the Megatower not have fit into this discussion as well?
Hi Kaz, I'm in the market for a do everything trail smashing machine. I've got money down on a Spes Stumpy Evo S6. Can it hang with the new gen Nomad? I haven't owned a 29r since pre boost Enduro, so I'm fine with 27.5. I also want something that can handle 220lbs of shake and bake in the chunder without packing up and blowing out.
PNW/BC Squam, Whis, Pemby bike of choice for climbing and shuttle mix, no racing just a survivalist playbike.
Is the new specialized enduro still the most downhill like feeling bike?
Please test the Propain tyee, too!
I rather would buy a Tyee than Spindrift. Same geometry and cheaper, and can go everywhere! But the SD is not a 100% Downhill bike so you need 29“ spindrift maybe 🤷♂️
@@SmokinJoe1 You're right but I'll buy the Tyee, 'cause I wonna do some 360 and things like that and the Tyee is more agile than the Spindrift.
@@Lukas-vr4eo Are you german
@@SmokinJoe1 Yes I am
I have a trail bike, but now I’m looking at another bike to ride at my local gravity park. How do I choose between an Enduro vs dedicated DH? I won’t need to pedal a whole lot and I am looking to hit lots of jumps and super tech trails. Any ideas of what should be considered.
Hey y’all, un looking into budget enduro mtb like the altitude a30 or the slash 8 any preferences or recommendations from other brands as well?
You should do a Kazimer vs Levy
You guys should do the direct to consumer enduro category that would be useful
They didn’t do jumps either
