I Moved To Japan… But Can’t Speak Japanese

  • At first, living here with out the ability to converse with 90% of people I meet was quite a shock. Getting basic things at grocery stores and local shops in Japan seemed like it would be a real challenge, but honestly everyone here is so nice and understanding (of my obvious ignorance) that it’s been easier than expected to survive in Japan as a foreigner.

    It's nice for Violet to see her heritage and the culture from where her Mom came from. What a respectful way for Cash to honor his wife this way, too. They both seemed to enjoy the city life, but it's also nice to go back and visit family

      @@patricialamere2679 Maybe they're testing out the idea of a move? Or maybe this is just a vacation. Cash likes playing with clickbait (sarcastically/ironically?) so who knows. I'm just along for the ride as I always find his adventures interesting and fun. Anyway, there wasn't any lead-up and they left their apartment as it was with all their stuff. So I am guessing that if this were to become a real move, at some point Cash would go home and pack up anything they want to ship to Japan, sublet their apartment--that sort of thing. We'll see!

      @Another youtube account This crap never ends maybe they’ll move in the future but this is very clearly a vacation. Nobody leaves a furnished apartment in NYC and moves to Japan with just two suitcases. Cash likes the click bait which is fine I don’t care. But his trying to maintain an aura of mystery around their Japan vacation is soooo corny 😂

      Don't mind me asking.
      1) Do you consider Japan as a highly developed and advanced country ?
      2) How would you personally rate Japan (from culture to technology, architecture, food, local products, scenery/landscape, standard of living/quality of life, etc.) on a scale level of 1 to 10 ?
      3) How would you overall describe the characteristics of Japanese people ?
      4) If you have 3 or more words to describe Japan, what would it be ?

      @@wombat5252 Why do you assume that Japanese people don't have freedom???
      I just find this aspect of the American people really fascinating. We're all told from a young age that we are the ONLY people on planet earth who have freedom and everyone else DOES NOT, but that is 100% false. I'm not saying I don't love my country, but come on....how are Americans so ignorant in this regard?
      There are many aspects of other countries that have great (dare I say better) qualities to them than the US. Again,...not saying I don't love and appreciate my country, I just look at places like Japan and see some fantastic qualities. Having a great transit system that is not only competent, but really effective for people in the city and suburbs. I see how moral people are in their own society and how if you leave a 100 dollar bill on a bench, it will likely 1. still be there or 2. turned into the local police. I see how clean everything is and I am impressed. I see how well crafted everything is including food. The best ice cream I've ever had was a plain vanilla soft serve ice cream cone in Japan.
      I'm not going to move to japan personally, but to say that people don't have freedom is bizarre and inaccurate. Japan is a great example of a "non western" country that has created a competent, well run, and successful society.

    I spent a year in Korea when I was in the Air Force and I remember how frustrating it was to try to listen to people speak the language. I noticed just after a few months I started picking up on words here and there and by the time I left I certainly couldn’t speak fluently but I could definitely understand parts of conversations around me. I’m sure once you’ve been there a while you’ll start picking the language up little by little.

    • @j134679
      @j134679 Před 2 lety

      Yeah, both Korean & Japanese are relatively easy to learn conversationally. Reading/writing is also easy with Korean, but forget that part for Japanese. Many foreigners learn those languages as an adult. Chinese is that hardest of all - absolutely have to start as a kid.

    This is how movies began in the 80's ,you would run afoul of the Yakuza video piracy crew, learn Martial Arts and the free the town (after some resistance) from the gangs . The gangs would lure you to a boss battle in the middle of the Shibuya district .....I just watched Top Gun so I'm feeling 80's nostalgia.

I live in a small town in the middle of nowhere so it's nice to see all these different places from a different point of view. Admittedly, I hadn't watched an apartment tour video for a couple weeks but came back when I saw these new videos being posted.
