    These long format, full featured videos are so fantastic! Nothing feels shortcutted at ESG anymore. Paul does such a thorough run through on these videos and I watch them all at least 2-3 times the week they come out.
    After a small fleet of six, I still haven't owned an Apollo Scooter yet. For my wants/needs they always come up a little short at their price point. The Go and the Phantom have been on my radar since the Go was announced but it didn't have enough battery capacity. The Solar FF lite and Phantom lost out to my GoTrax GX3 purchase recently but that's partially because it was the most different from two other sport scooters that I have now. Apps are not important to me so that "selling point" doesn't push me to Apollo. Apollo also uses EVE cells in all models but the Pro, rather than LG or Samsung. This isn't a deal breaker for me but I do tend to compare Apollo models to other non-LG / Samsung scooters. For example the Solar FF Lite 2024 is another 3200w scooter but comes with Nutt Hydraulic brakes, larger 1380Wh battery, more efficient 60V system, tubeless self sealing tires, an even better light, motorbike grade horn, more robust stem clamp design and comes in at an average $300 less. I'll concede that the Apollo probably has the more efficient controller and dedicated regen lever but regen is ultimately marketing hype unless you're constantly stopping and accelerating. I've never seen a single, conclusive regen vs. non-regen efficiency test either but I suspect the benefit is probably insignificant when you consider how much time it takes for a 4.0A charger to charge a 1000Wh battery...and it's charging continuously. Also, it's easy to surpass a smaller battery scooter with regen simply by picking a larger battery scooter of similar design without regen. So, I think Apollo needs to consider other premium features like Hydraulic brakes, tubeless self sealing tires, or in the case of the V4.... how about updating the stem latch, Apollo. This is the only model that has retained the goofy design of the past. To my mind Version 4 was the perfect opportunity to have addressed this. The current design isn't bad, it's just not nearly has nice or functionally perfect as the one you've put on every other model.

      That's a great idea. We love ride quality. I wonder if I can find a way to objectively measure some elements of ride quality. The problem when you have 150+ scooters is you need a way to objectively rank them. I can ride 10 back to back, but it's hard to compare more than 10 scooters in a qualitative way accurately. I'll have to think about how we'd do it. -Paul

    • @PinnaclePete
      @PinnaclePete Před měsícem

      @ESG-ElectricScooterGuide @ESG-ElectricScooterGuide I would think it would have to be subjective, but being you guys have so much experience riding different scooters, you could quickly eliminate many with a very brief ride. You know in advance which scooters stood out comfort-wise by memory. You would have ride each scooter along the same line with bumps and dips, cracks, divots, patches, etc.
      Although I enjoy watching the fastest scooter videos, I would never buy a 70+ mph scooter. 40 mph is the absolute fastest I would ever need to go. I don't have a death wish. Practicality is most important. Reliable, ride comfort, range, portability, availability of parts, charging time, warranty and even good looks.

    There's a lot of thought out design choice but then there a few bad ones on this scooter. Regen braking throttle, a good app and turn signal controls are great to see. No hydraulic brakes, tubeless tires, adjustable suspensions should be the norm on performance scooters. 1400kms I have on my Nami Klima 25ah and was looking at the V3 of this when I was shopping around don't regret my purchase. G'day Paul. I am stuck between a rock & a hard place with the Phantom as I've always admired it even from the original V1 yet a couple of minor grips (tubed tyres / old school battery charge terminals) are preventing me from investing. From your review I would say the thing I like least about the GX3 is that it doesn't have an app, but besides Top Speed it seems it would beat the V4 in most areas like Build quality, hydraulic braking (unless the regenerative braking on the V4 nearly matches it while saving maintenance costs), suspension etc. is the V4 acceleration much better with its claimed extra 200 W of power per wheel?

    Nice review as always Paul. It is just not enough spec for too much $ vs the competition. What are the side by side differences of the v3 vs v4? Seems like they barely changed anything and a .2 sec difference in 0-30 is not enough to warrant a whole new version.... Apollo needs to up their game. Max speed of at least 50, hydraulic brakes, adjustable hydraulic suspension and tubeless tires at the bare minimum.

    Hi Paul my friend 🙋
    I can't understand why Apollo keeps 52v batteries and also mechanical brakes!!!🤷
    They give most of them attention in controllers... But v4 around 2000$ is expensive!!

    • @ESG-ElectricScooterGuide
      @ESG-ElectricScooterGuide  Před měsícem +1

      They are going for the mass audiences and the average commute in the US is 5 miles round trip. The mechanical brakes are absolutely sufficient bevause the dedicated regen brake is all you will be using.

      @@ESG-ElectricScooterGuideI'm not judging Apollo... But the market getting bigger with decent scooters (especially with 2000$)...
      In these category (mid-scooters), 2023-24 model all haves Regan braking!! But when you see mechanical brakes or drum automatically lower the scooter!
      The same is why a 52v vs 60v battery...
      The cost for these two upgrades is small for Apollo... But if they do it they will be KING of the game!!!☝️
      I'm transferring the option of many guys when we talk about Apollo scooters!

      I feel like the big companies are sticking to 52V (sub 60v fully charged) because 60V has sort of been agreed upon world wide as a safe voltage for humans. You can make a lot of power at lower voltage, but you do need more copper to handle the current.
      With the brakes, I’m pretty sure the logic is that 90% of the time you’ll end up using the regen and in the long run cable brakes are more reliable than hydraulic, though some brands of hydraulics are pretty good. (Zoom brakes seem less reliable). -Paul

    Managed to upload this just a few days after I bought one myself! Honestly I was more leaning towards the Nami Klima, but there was a longer delay on getting the product and I needed one now. My Gotrax GX2 front motor sadly stopped working and I am waiting for them to respond to my warranty request and I still need something for getting to work easily (I have a coworker that plans to buy the GX2 off me so it worked out).
    That said one thing that I find kind of odd is the Apollo site. It said on the site when I ordered the scooter on the 10th that I would get it by the 17th, yet they have not even shipped it yet. After I contacted support Thursday it turns out it was out of stock with them expecting stock to come in the 20th which would have been nice to know beforehand. On top of that under the "New Upgrades for 2024" tab they list the revamped steering and motors, but previously (when I bought the scooter) it mentioned "New V8 throttles for more ergonomic riding". Since that is no longer on the website does that mean I don't get that, or that it was a mistake? They really need to improve and make sure the website is better updated and accurate.
    EDIT:
    Small little update, I contacted support about the throttle thing. They said that it was an error as the throttles will be later implemented on future V4 models, but there is no ETA yet... kind of a bummer.

A few silly issues, but the support was always quick to respond and very friendly so not the worst experience in the world.

      It’s interesting. There are other scooters that do it, but they’re all smaller and mostly single motor scooters. I think it’s tricky doing it on a fast sports scooter without blowing up your motor controller. -Paul

    I try to find a best light weight, fun, with good suspension scooter. I have checked around 40 models and choose only 3 of them.
    Mantis 8 or 10.
    Dualtron raptor 2 or eagle.
    My aim is jump a lot of bumps, aggressive ride in park dirt roads. And here in Ukraine we have a bad asphalte with a lot of holes and i am scary to lose all my teeth.
    Raptor 2 has the best perfomance compare to a weight of just 22kg (48lbs). But... it has only 8 inch tiers which i scary with out bad roads... But it also goes iwth rubber suspension which is good for jumping but again seems bad for raod as dualtron comes with airless tires.
    Mantis 8 has spring suspensions nad + 3 kg.
    But Mantis 10 as Dualtron eagle, comes with 10 inch tiers but 30 kg (66lbs) which is a huge difference and i am just not sure... spring suspensions and + kg weight or runbber suspensions light weight....
