I've been on it for over 58 yrs because I was not taken off from it when I should had been. I have to take it mostly now cause my body needs it. Worse then coming off pain killers. Cause if they don't do it correctly, coming off from this crap will kill you

Are you ever told what your phenytoin levels are after you get a blood test so ou can get your refill?

Best thing is talk with Dr and ask for something else. Andvtgeyvarevsuppose to take blood level every 3 months. If it's too low, it can cause seizures, cause it's not strong enough and if it too high., it's toxic. There is arrange for the correct dosage. Good luck, cause I will be taking mybthr c reast of my my life. There is other meds can can help with less side effects

Try drinking a glass of water with a bit of fresh lemon juice added to it. Just a squirt is enough. I always get gut irritation when taking my meds, but a small glass of the lemon water always clears it up. Try it, see if it works for you too. All the best to you. 👍
(Also.....sometimes it might be due to the need to burp. I find this medication causes me a great deal of gas, causing me to burp a lot. The lemon water helps with that too, so I drink it all through the day. It helps ease symptoms. And sometimes just a good old big huge burp fixes it too. Sounds gross.....but it works!)
