A girl died Saturday after falling from a deck in a Carnival Cruise Line ship's interior atrium to the lower deck at PortMiami, according to the Miami-Dade Police Department.

@2freeIvX Exactly, when I was 2 I nearly got hit by a train and it wasn't my parent's fault. They were doing the best they can to keep an eye on me but glanced away for one second and I was gone. There's a time and point when there's no one to blame. Terrible but it's not the ship fault. Maybe the parents should have been with them since they were two stories up....duh. I wouldnt let my child out of my sight if there was a potential hazard
Very sad to heat and hear. Am going to talk as a non swimmer and scared of waters. I find cruise ships very dangerous because of the way anyone can lean on the bars. It's not safe. Any tilting of the ship can lead to man overboard. I think that if they put a net or something similar, will be a bit more safer. I will never ever go on a cruise in a ship because I feel a bit safer on solid ground. I find it very scary to be on a ship where no land is visible. Thank you, but I pass.
The family where the grandfather threw the baby out the window are still suing. Totally about wanting to get money out of this for pure greed. The grandfather didn't even get jail time for dangling her out the window. I don't know this ones story though.
how could they sue the ship... the cruise line didnt push her out the window... the stepgranddad did. and no one can ever say he didnt see that the window was opened. we all saw it opened

I’ll never understand taking your kid on a cruise. Not only does it sound like hell to be stuck on a cruise with your 8 year old children, but all the risks that come with it outweighs the potential fun. I think kids should be banned from cruise ships. They’re adult trips anyways.
The child's death is the step-grandfather's fault. The stench of greed that now permeates this family is the fault of the lawyer mom who, instead of laying blame at the grandfather's feet, instead chose to immediately file suit against the cruise line.

They were, however, young enough to be warned of the dangers of playing around on the fence/barriers and one "mistake " could end up being either a "life or death " moment, or "swimming for your life " moment...they listened and respected the ship and her boundaries...they were respectful to the Camp Carnival Counselors and had a great time...we all did....can't expect the crew to "babysit" your kids though...they have their own jobs...if you really don't want to have to watch your kids, take someone along to do this, or, leave them at home with a sitter...the point is to RELAX AND HAVE FUN. Make prior arrangements beforehand so you can do as you like, stay up late, sleep in...good luck!
