So fun fact. The term "High Ball" comes from railroads using large balls hoisted to the top of a flagpole as signals. "High Ball" meant clear to proceed, while a "Low Ball" meant you need to stop.
Similarly, "Balls Out" refers to a mechanism used to measure steam generation before we had the appropriate guages. I can only describe it as 2 balls mounted on 4 pieces of metal rods that would either spin or get pressed up by a collar as more and more steam built in the boiler. If the Balls were pressed or spun out, then you had maximum power, thus "Running Balls Out" was born.

I own Prison Architect, Project: Hospital, and Factorio because of watching the Colonel play the game, not because he's said anything during a video. Seeing him play KSP was a deciding factor (the price drop to $12.00 Cdn was more of a factor). I already owned TpF, Train Simulator, Elite: Dangerous, Cities: Skylines...
Let me clarify, i dont count obvious games (cities skylines or TSW for example) because i would probably buy those anyway (hell i have owned cities since it released) im talking indie games here, stuff i would normally pass over for a bag of crap ....like rising star or derail valley, he tends to find things i dont see many giving the time of day to
.....and i should probably also clarify (because their is always one who will think this) that my comment is meant to make fun of the fact that advertising technically sometimes happens in a lets play (its why they call them influencers), not that he actively ever says anything in a video, basically its just a funny observation i have found with regards to me and my buying habits lmao
You know, fun fact about three prominent freight/parcel companies UPS, FedEx and DHL, all are originally founded in the US. DHL was later bought by Deutsche Post, but was first a US based company.

Actually it’s not “Darren” who does what he’s told it’s you who does as “Darren” directs. The conductor is pretty much the “owner” of the train and they are the one who tells the Engineer what to do. The Engineers job is to operate the train under the conductors instruction. Funnily enough, (least in 🇨🇦) before you can become an engineer, you start as a conductor, which actually pays less. So the Engineer makes more money, but technically has less responsibility. He just drives the train, the conductor does everything else, including track switches, interpreting signals, outside communication, consist inspection, (un)coupling, etc. :)

Loved that intro, Colonel! So, I'm only at the very beginning of the trip... you haven't even got the train started... and there's Johnny in the other seat. Will he be able to go fetch help if you happen to have the train sort of fall off the rails unexpectedly? Hm... maybe not. He looks like he'd get lost in the trees. Well! Let's hope nothing untoward happens then.

Tony Hawk is a professional skateboarder, Dave Mirra was a pro BMX rider (who died in 2016). If anything, the closest to what you said would be Travis Pastrana, who is into all sorts of motorsports including but not necessarily limited to rally racing, motocross, and supercross. If I wanted to film a running train alongside, I would want him as my driver. 😁

Ahhhhh....the ElectroMotive Division's famous F7 locomotives......not only "the diesel that did it" [retired steam] but absolutely beautiful with the bulldog fronts. Give me an F7 or the EMD E7/8s any day :) Clinchfield, not the best paint scheme...give me New York Central Lightning Stripes or the Santa Fe Warbonnet passenger scheme....but I will take it!!!

I get your frustration, 12k views and 750 likes is very frustrating when likes and comments count more than views. I think the outro is not the way to go about it though. It is just not quite the right tone.

Don't worry, as soon as I get a more powerful computer "soon" I might add this game to the list of games that imma compiling, kinda like the slow games as a relaxation thing. That has got to be one of the best intro's ever!
What this game needs is a hobo mod, where you can play as either the police or a vagrant and try to capture the trespassers, or ride the rails as far as possible without getting arrested or killed.
Noting after the Clinchfield...etc bit, one thing that makes this generally very nice looking simulation look like a toy is I don't think I've ever seen an entire consist go by where everything is the same logo. Even on the same kind of rolling stock.
It's not a Col Failure video if he doesn't do a thing that in hindsight was a bad idea, and as frequently happens, in came the Visigoths.
Would be nice if they just had some blank, generic cars at least, as opposed to every wagon having a logo.

Where's the bug? Even if the front end of the other train kept moving, that's not necessarily a bug. All I saw was questionable physics modeling (not a bug) and things working as intended. This one's for Adam and I'm sure he loved it.

@@wimpie031 The uncoupled part was supposed to stop and it did. It worked as intended and therefore is not a bug. It should have been modelled a whole lot slower and smoother. That makes it a design flaw in either the overall game, or the Clinchfield DLC (I am not a Dovetail employee privy to their design documents). I'm being pedantic partly because the distinction is important to the developer but not the customer, nor is it the customer's job to make the distinction. Partly I'm being pedantic because IT professionals are famous for picking fly poop out of pepper and I have to protect our reputation. At any rate, TSW2 is a simulator and I think we can all agree that what we saw was immersion breaking for TSW2's level of simulation. That makes it something that should be investigated and if possible, fixed.

I don't know if this is relevant to anything whatsoever, but you might have been able to complete this mission, (is it a mission?), regardless, as I suspect the train you had to stop for that you decoupled part of, that remained on the track you were supposed to proceed onto once it had intended to pass, may actually have become a, 'ghost train', once the locomotive part had sufficiently passed by. However, on further thinkage, and the fact that you climbed aboard the caboose of the said train and turned it's handbrake on, that may well not have been the case. Oh well, at least the thought was thoughtful within itself. Or not.
The signal was still red - I'd have SPAD'd.

3:15 Reason you having some trouble moving from a Dead start first of Releasing brakes then throttling up is all Wrong doing so. 2nd your on a 1.5% Grade on a Curve. Curves in Real Life will do this to your train load make it harder to pull because there bunched up and have a Lot more slack to deal with which is a Railroader's real Enemy "SLACK" in between Freight Car's around the Coupler's Dovetail will never tell you this because I honestly don't think they know about it.

10:00 hadn't noticed last time during the looking out the open door thing, that the forward edge of the open door has some...diffraction or something going on. I might guess that's the anti-aliasing trying to keep up with the scenery outside as it becomes visible? Graphical rendering never seems to be perfect. In MMOs the thing that always stands out is reflections of things between you and some water, like a fishing line, in a weird way of seeing a reflection right behind the line which is something reflections at an angle would never do.
That was worth a proper giggle.
