Just a heads up to anyone doing this repair. The edges of the sheet metal are extremely sharp. I sliced my thumb knuckle unplugging the connecter to the lid, and had to get stiches.

How do I tell if it is the heating element or the main circuit board?

    • @cclawncare1
      @cclawncare1 Před 11 měsíci

@IrishEddie317. Make sure the dryer is unplugged from the wall receptacle so you don't get shocked. Then, if you have a voltmeter, just disconnect one of the connectors that is attached to the heating coil. Set the Voltmeter to Ohms function and touch probes to each end of the heating coil. You should have continuity. If it's an OPEN circuit, the coil is the issue.

@@cclawncare1 Thank you. Yes, I do get that, but my big issue is which of the many wires go to the heating element? Are there online schematics I can read to get the right ones?

Great video but FYI, you don't have to take the belt off or the drum out to replace the heating element. You can easily remove the heating coil assembly once you have removed just the top cover and the front door panel. Then you remove the screw out of the heating element housing so you can pull the housing out from the dryer and have full access to the sensors and the coil. This method saves you a lot of time and hassle.

All I can say is THANK YOU! This video definitely saved me hundreds...I order my heating elements on Amazon, it was delivered the next day. The installation was exactly as described in this video. In fact, my heating element was broken in the EXACT same place. Keep in mind that some places inside the dryer are sharp on the edges. Believe it or not, the hardest part of the installation for me was disconnecting the wire that controls the dryer light (after removing the front). That clamp just would not let go, but I eventually got it. Thanks again!

You can get the heating element assembly without removing the drum. Remove screw from back vent, pull out back vent. That gives you access to renove the 2 back screws that hold the frame that supports heating element assembly. Then remove front as instructed, remove 2 front screws from frame that supports heating assembly. There is one screw that holds heating element assembly with support frame, once you remove it and are able to separate both, you can pull them out the front. Great video, thanks.

1 take pics or video with light that belt on the pulleys/idle wheel.
It helped a lot puttingvideo phone in there and seeing it.
    2. Maybe try doing the pulley first then put the barrel in with a buddy I couldn't get it the other way but maybe your more flexible than I lol.
    3. On the element unscrew the three screws on each side helped me getting it in n out and lined up.
    4. The wires on element go into the side they're on so top coil to top hole etc. [Take pics!!] Lol helped so much.
    5. You may not remember but that first cycle smells and that's the element lighting for the first time it usually happens on new dryers but we forget bout it lol.
    6. The plugs all should just pull out I don't believe there were any of those push/press while pulling ones that SUCK lol
Lastly separate your screw sets and take pics the 3 on behind the door are different than all the other ones and yah that n pics helped.

I was having a tough time with getting the belt on there right, I think your diagram at 3:44 is off, the arm for the idler pully on mine was the mirror image of that, and the screw that held it in was on the lower right of the motor assembly. What I did to make mine go again was to - with the front shroud for the drum off, push the idler arm far left, so the spring was tensioning almost as far as I could get it, then wind the tooth side of the belt (grooves) around the motor shaft, and then the smooth side around the idler pully. Sorry for the run-on sentence. Also, the tooth(groove) side of the belt should be inward facing on the drum. Just an excellent video thanks very much!

My dryer kept shorting after installing my heater element. To those reading this, make sure your heating element coils aren't touching one another. It will short the dryer and cause the fuse box to jump. For the life of me, I couldn't figure out the issue was but suspected that was the issue, and it was. Dryer heats and runs like it should now.

I just noticed the positioning of the wires. Mine has the red on top and blue on the bottom. I ran it both ways and it worked both times. Guess it'll work in either position to make it dummy proof is my guess. Thank you for the informative video, useful knowledge to pass on to my kids.

Thanks. I have mine torn apart and I wrote down red on top and blue on bottom for the heating element. But, I watched the video again and it shows blue on top and red on bottom. Good to know it will work either way. Thanks.

Amazing job! Thank you for your video, I has a successful repair for my dryer! One question I have on the housing that held the heating coils, there are two additional wired modules connected (you checked them for connectivity in your video) My replacement part kit came with those, but I didn't change them out because they weren't broken and I didn't know their placement orientation (top vs bottom) to reconnect the wires, I didnt want to connect them backwards, so I left the existing. How can you tell how to replace those two parts?
