we had a fabrication shop in white Waltham near Windsor..the wheel was made from I think 8" maybe 6" cant remember now..metal box section I welded together...then cladded in Bolsa wood and painted to look like timber beams ..

Wonderful film, a masterpiece. Shame Warner Bros won't allow a restored version of the full original cut. The BFI DVD is highly recommended, most complete version available currently and the DVD extras features are excellent. Good work BFI, all we need now is the complete film.

That would mean getting Warners to include the orgy sequence uncut & there is no chance in Hell of that happening. Almost a half-century later, it is probably still too shocking to include. Social mores have bounced back & forth since then, but I think we are back in a conservative time where even announcing the re-release of this movie would get it shut down in a day.

Typical self-indulgent, over-the-top Russellism--and repulsive to boot!!! The supporting cast, particularly over-the-top: crazy Dudley Sutton, androgynous Murray Melvin and a "hippie" Cardinal Richilieu overplayed by Michael Gothard!!! I love Mark Kermode but he's wrong on this one!!!
