Regardless of how harshly they have been criticized and deemed to be 'sellouts' for their work throughout the 80s, of which I personally do not agree very much, the fact that how brave, inventive, versatile and visionary they were is criminally overlooked. It is quite hard to name any other musical act that matched, let alone surpassed their courage and versatility to this very day. 'Cult' and 'legendary' have been merely ordinary properties of whatever they did and in whichever way they chose to do it. Queen is a unique phenomenon in cultural history.

Exactly the same!!! Saw the album as a kid in 1973. Loved the cover. Turned it over. Loved the pictures and some song titles... Liar, Great King Rat. (Almost didn't buy it due to My Fairy King, and Jesus... which would turn out to be one of their heaviest songs). Loved the phased intro of Keep Yourself Alive as soon as I put it on, and most of the album. I was a proud member of their fan club from 1974 through to after Freddie died. For me, Queen was over in 1997, after the No-One But You single and John Deacon's departure. But I'm so glad I found them. Queen gave me a lot to live for, and look forward to.

It’s an old cliché saying but…I think it’s quite fitting to say: like a fine Burgundy wine, Queen’s music really does get better with time. It’s easy and sometimes unavoidable to get awash in the craziness and busyness of life itself but every so often I revisit Queen records to remind myself of their greatness. One in particular is 1981 Montreal Forum concert film. These two gigs were booked not in a regular tour itinerary. The two shows were performed with the intent of being filmed to make one awesome concert film. I’d say they achieved just that. Put on the dvd and run the audio signal thru the mains of your home system. Pop a huge bowl of popcorn and let the good times roll. This film has it all.

Documentaries made by the person(s) being documented are never "neutral" because the view of things is always guided by personal feelings.
A good example is the "Queen The Greatest" series. I'm fairly certain that Brian May and Roger Taylor did post videos of their instruments but after analyzing the clicks they cut out the bass and piano because Freddie Mercury (which was to be expected) and John Deacon (which they probably weren't expecting) probably did a lot else towould get a lot of clicks.
An independent biographer would not accept such concerns.

31 years after suffering the news that Freddie Mercury had died, Queen, the Rock Band he was Lead Singer for Is Legendary, i.e., Freddie Mercury, John Deacon, Roger Taylor and Brian May each and all Legendary. Today, just stumbling upon this, first thought - don't watch, you want to revere Freddie not revisit critique that besmirches his magnificence. Am so glad I watched. It reminds us of the master musician/performer/team player Freddie was. America may not have been overly nice to Queen but the rest of the world was. A few points: It was Roger's little son that said "Radio Ca Ca'". Re 'fried chicken' I've read such was proclaimed, leaving folks over the world envisioning the same popular food...tho not called 'fried chicken' - (think General Tso's). I wish I could say I liked this program but was extremely frustrated with the “insight” into the songs. It seems like the vast majority of the “insight” construed the lyrics in songs revolved around Freddie and his sexuality or battle with AIDS. Geeze! Many of these songs were written by other members of Queen and addressed other things, for example, One Year of Love, was written for the Highlander soundtrack. Additionally some of the facts were incorrect, for example, Roger Taylor was inspired to write Radio Ga Ga after his son Felix (not his daughter) walked into the room and said radio ca ca. There was an obvious omission regarding Freddie’s solo work with Montserrat Caballe which was not only successful but again paved the way for artist collaborations across rock/pop/opera.

The others for about 10 mins would be enough!! 1): The concert in 1985 where Freddie dressed up in his garb from the IWTBF video was in Brazil, at Rock in Rio, not Argentina... 2): It was Roger Taylor's son who inspired the lyrics of Radio Ga Ga, not his daughter... 3): TATDOOL was written by Taylor, so not an autobiographical Freddie piece...

This is very powerful because although Freddie was obviously careless at some point, it's a much different thing to claim Freddie would have not cared if he infected others with AIDS.

I have watched countless interviews of Freddie Roger John and Brian and most of the information their portraying in this video is wrong, making assumptions and think they know who wrote the song and why, what must they be thinking at the time of writing the lyrics etc especially towards the end of Freddie’s death, it’s wrong , that’s just their views and not the truth. This video portraying bad image on Queen. Yes they had ups and downs but all through this video they don’t paint a good picture of them . Love you Queen 🎤🎹🎸🥁

I want it all was a song, written by Sir Brian May but inspired by his wife Anita Dobson who he said was a very lively and cheerful soul and her views on life were I want it all and I want it now.
Nothing whatsoever to do with Freddie's impending death.

Queen is not ‘Queen’ without Freddie as their singing frontman. AL joining was good business. I do believe Freddie is very happy about him, but it doesn’t mean the fans have to be. I adore Brian, however, his comments today aren't too cool, and he is undeniably [just a lil' bit of] a control freak. Freddie never considered himself to be the 'heart' of the band. We don’t know, maybe he did….but in hindsight, YEAH, he absolutely was.

Yes, I feel the same. If I go to see a Queen concert I want to hear Freddie. I saw Marc Martel in concert and ABSOLUTELY loved him. With Marc Martel I felt like Freddie was singing through him. But I cannot get that feeling hearing "The New Guy" (I can't think of his name)I love and have the upmost respect for both Brian May & Roger Taylor... But even though they maybe the original musicians from Queen the lead vocals just does nothing for me

So many ignorant people out there gave Freddie so much stick for the video to I want to break free and they had absolutely no idea that it was actually Roger Taylor's suggestion that they should all dress up as women and that it had been Deeks aka John Deacon who wrote the hit single.

With the exception of Paul Gambacini these are not queen experts
They fall into the obvious trap of believing that Freddie has written everything. The Show must go on.... Written by Brian May and Freddie
These are the days of our lives... Written by Roger Taylor. The stage show so hated by "experts" is the 10th longest running musical ever in the west end. Experts obviously don't know the public taste.
Their obvious dislike of Made in Heaven is a slight on the musical engineering feats of the other band members, which on reflection makes me think that the documentary focused too much on Freddie. Let's not forget without Brian, Roger and John their would not have been a Freddie Mercury yes he was unique and talented but the sum of the parts are so much more than the individuals

Why are these guys talking about "The Show Must Go On" and "Those Were The Days Of Our Lives" Like Freddie wrote them and was trying to tell his story? Those songs were written by Brian and Roger, not Freddie. Yes, he sang them beautifully and with passion but Freddie always sang beautifully and with passion, but if the lyrics were about Freddie which Brian said he had Freddie in mind when he wrote TSMGO, Roger said he wrote TWTDOOL, about his children and watching them grow up, it had nothing to do with Freddie trying to tell his personal story or go out with a huge flare, they were not autobiographical. This has been a very good mini documentary but they have not done their homework in a few areas. It is so funny their view of the musical We Will Rock You because though critics didn't like it, it played to sold out crowds for 10 years at the Dominion and then to sold out crowds around the world where it also showed. It is currently in the midst of a new 6 week show and it has sold out too. Queen and Adam Lambert are touring North America starting in October 2023 and all shows sold out the first day tickets went on sale. So the reality is that people love Queen music and they are hungry to see it performed live. Of course, everyone would prefer that Freddie was still alive and singing but even without him, new fans have been introduced to Freddie's music and what it was like to see real performers live on stage. Talent never grows old, nor does great music.
