It's a waste imo to buy darkhorse with a 10 speed.. mat as well get the gt and build that.. Dark Horse and the tremec is a different story

If you're using the Dark Horse as a track car. Differently go with the Tremec. If your building a Dark Horse for the Dragstrip. I would go with the 10R80. The Gen 4 Coyote in the Dark Horse uses some of the GT500 internals. From Ford engineers. They mentioned the chassis has extra welds to Stiffen the chassis along with it's amazing brakes and retuned Magna Ride. From an extended test drive. i felt like I was driving a European Performance Sports car. I'm curious how much your Steeda suspension upgrades cost in your beautiful Red S650 Mustang GT vs the Dark Horse performance package. Thanks for your opinion and test drive.
DH out the box is a handling masterpiece. Not raw but refined.
How much better would you say the Tremec is over the GTs manual?

I snagged a Dark Horse Premium a couple months ago. Got that ultra dark grey color (almost looks black) and a stick. Immediately ordered the complimentary Ford Performance blower and exhaust. Have the handling kit coming from Steeda. Still have to upgrade the wheels and tires, though.

I have a Mach1 with handling package etc.. The Dark Horse has really grown on me, but I think I will stick with my Mach1. Probably😬
Mach1 and dark horse are on par with each other, same car except for the dashboard, your car is better IMO, you'll get further with tuning.

Totally understand your argument to aftermarket a car to your own specs to possibly achieve a better car. Wish I had your knowledge and the mechanic ability to do it myself. But, as you mentioned, most of us don't have that savvy. We kind of need to buy our performance in tack. The Dark Horse seem to be the ticket.
Alex, Your dealer friend wants to sell you another Mustang. Either a Dark Horse, or at least another GT with the 10R80. I'm an old man. I learned to drive on a manual 3 on the tree. I even prefer a manual in my big rig, and asked for it to be ordered with a manual, but the 10R80 was the way to go for my Mustang, after Ford bought back my MT82. I don't regret ordering the 10R80 in the least. I'm surprised that you went back to the MT82.

Its a built motor version of a motor that already takes 8-900whp to the face "unopened" as long as you're not shifting at 8k kissing limiter... Once the prices cool down it will be the mustang to get for modders that don't want to get into dealing with engine builders... anyone who thinks that is a pleasant experience has likely never done it yet :D
I have a s550 mustang gt pp1 w an auto mafia ported intake,e85 vmp tune,87 fuel injectors ,cat back ex and i know it looks better to me and it is fast,eat a dark horse for breakfast and the gt for dinner,i don't need a new one.already tried to win a car from stangmode and he wont let me win so ill keep mine.Oh i also have 315 on back 255 on front and the shelby stripes,best looking mustang on road,still love ya keep up the good work.
Eat it in the curves or straight line stuff? DH is fun handling, not red light racer.
That Darkhorse also come with rear differential coolers and Trans coolers oil coolers you don’t have on your GT and will be at least $2k plus a lot of labor install and the amount of additional protection they give you is Major!!

Good video Alex. I am in agreement! Ford engineers say that the Dark Horse has the most down-force of any Mustang so far. It will not take much to get it to 500 rwhp as NA car. I look forward to being able to install the ESS.

Darkhorse has forged internals supposedly… should have higher potential when boosted without building the motor.
So a Mach 1 with the handling package but with different body panels and an extra 10 -15k mark up
and a bit heavier, so its slower to 60 mph.
Most of the people on here with all these negative comments about the Dark Horse probably have never driven one. Just calling it a rebranded Mach 1 and a more expensive GT have no basis for the comparison other than You Tube. Go sit in one and drive it and then talk about it.
Agreed. Just got my handling pack 6speed DH and let me tell you. It ain’t a Mustang. It’s glorious to drive. And I come from long list of everything performance. I had a 600 wheel C6Z in 2008. Just sold my C7Z for the DH. Can’t wait for my whipple to get here. Anybody reading this and contemplating the car like I did. Just drive one and then you’ll know. Cheers everyone.

Darkhorse is definitely nasty! I love my 23 Mach1 though especially having the eruption green because it’s a rare color! Ford did great with the 24’s though!

What did they do to the 10 speed .... there is a lawsuit pending on 2023 down .The clutch hub and the valve body are causing total trans failure. The ecu tuning is not going to fix faulty hardware.GM and Ford are using the same trans in cars and trucks. Reply !
Keep what you've got Alex! You can't go wrong with Steeda's help! If you want a road course Mustang, a 6 speed manual will always be a driving pleasure. You CAN make the GT a really nice road rally car. Isn't that what you said you wanted?

I have a 23 Mach 1 with a 10 speed. We will probably trade it in a couple years if they keep making the dark horse and get one with a tremec. I don't race but want to be one with the car. I regret not get the tremec in Mach 1. I won't pay a penny over MSRP. Hopefully in a couple years they ramp up production and the dark horse is easy to get for msrp..
3 local dealers in my area are all 3k BELOW MSRP right now. The DH isn't selling here in central Ohio very well.
I test drove a 6spd dark horse Monday and I was blown away at the driving experience compared to the 24’ GT. I didn’t expect much of a power difference but there was lol.

No contest: If Mustang GT go 10 speed because the updated MT82 is not that improved I am not buying that it is. If Darkhorse got to go Tremec because that trans is GREAT!
I just purchased a 24 gt premium 400A 10 speed auto performance pack active exhaust nite pony pack that makes 486 at the crank. It was 58k. To me to get just 14 more horses wasn’t worth the money. Especially since I’m looking to supercharge it.
If you think all the DH gives you is 14 more horses, you haven't done your research.

@@seanh6127 I spec'd out a GT Premium with everything I could to make it equivalent to the DH Premium (the GT was still missing things, too, like diff oil coolers and other functional items). The MSRP difference was only $7,025. In the grand scheme of things, I think it's worth it, especially if you're going to do more with it than just putz around town.
The DarkHorse specific,required trofeo tires are over $300 per...without those tires. IT'S NOT DARKHORSE. without those specific tires RIDE,HANDLING, PERFORMANCE, BRAKING BECOME PLAIN OL' MUSTANG GT.
To me the S650 doesn't look as tough and as bad as the S550. I don't hate the S650...I just prefer the S550; it's perfect!

That's true, but they can be tuned.
Darkhorse is a name suckers are going to fall for before realizing a regular mustang with the aftermarket can make a far cheaper just as good performing mustang. It's like my base model S550 Mustang GT out performing premium and performance packs because the items that make a premium ,or performance pack can be cheaper acquired through the aftermarket .

First thing I noticed on my 23 Cali was the paddle shifting. It is much better than previous years. Had a 2020 and 2018. On a side note, them shifts are crisp.

Because it's a fun driving experience and it's preferred by purists to each their own but just because whom has a different driving preference doesn't entitle you to call it crap ,the auto is faster who cares the manual gives the driver more feedback and that's all that matters for some people

Long time Ford buyer. I’ve bought 10 new fords since 06, 3 being Mustang gts. Bang for the buck was a major priority. Currently have a 19 gt, 21 Explorer xlt, 23 Maverick xlt hybrid. Same cars now are not a bang for the buck. 68k for an na mustang is ridiculous. Ford your dealership have 50k+ mustangs, 60k plus f150, 40k maverick sitting. Please don’t force us to go to another manufacturer.
Bought a Darkhorse this past weekend, it's a great wine and the original Darkhorse in which the name and emblem was stolen by Ford. As far as the Darkhorse car, you are paying for a S550 MACH 1 with a digital dash....complete rip off.

The dark horse is a major disappointment
The DH is truly a car that can't be evaluated by specs. It must be driven. It has a very unique and wheel balanced feel in curves. To best describe if a GT350 has a race car feel the DH has a European exotic feel. Then the Coyote and Tremec just amp it up.
@@FastLane-Grip but the 350 was an overall better car it’s lighter makes more power and is overall a better track machine. The only reason the dark horse has been performing better on the track than even a Mach 1 is because of the trofeo tires
@MrPrime269 Not sure why people always say tires tires tires. Downforce and suspension setup keeps tires in contact with the road. DH has more downforce than Mach 1. Of course the GT350 is a better track car but the DH is no slouch.
