    I just watched a different video where the owner took out the carbon filters and the car on the dyno and picked up 16 rwhp and 17 lbs.-ft of torque across the entire curve. Seen another video where 12 rwhp was picked up &13 torque. So the 5 rwhp that you are claiming was from an earlier video like 3 months ago. I have seen multiple videos now where the picked horsepower is anywhere from 12 -16 rwhp and torque 12-17!!!! Only other video that cut out the plastic triangle piece was Middleton Ford guys up In Wisconsin who were the first to do it. Great video!!! Thanks for sharing‼️👍👊💪😎❤️🇺🇸✝️

      You're right, we have much better data now, it's not worth a ton of peak power, but produced a tremendous amount of "under the curve" improvement.

    Thanks for the video. I'm still saving for the Mustang. Probably still need to save 2.5 more years, but I'm watching video's so I already know how it works and what to do. Subscribed.

    It's worth literally 1 HP.... LMR just did a dyno video on this, those carbon filters also control the drivability by metering proper air control to both mass air sensors, it's not worth tampering with... there are two giant throttle bodies with ram air which is certainly more airflow than you could have ever gotten with the one throttle body. Also I would love to know the price of those things if you ever had to replace them down the road, probably a arm and a leg.. LOL

      The reason ford went dual intake was to allow them to install the carbon traps and still achieve the proper cfm needed to make HP and be emissions compliant. Though the carbon traps restrict flow the motor does recieve enough cfm to make HP. What the carbon traps actually do that harms hp potential is generate turbulence in the air stream. When you force air to tumble as it inters the intake manifold it gets “sticky” and slows down as it touches the plenum walls. Though the air is present its moving slowly and tumbling restricting how much air can squeeze through the valves in the window they are open. Thats how the carbon traps hurt hp and thats also why its hard to dyno - more positive pressure on the intakes from driving at speed and colder/denser air will mask the problem. Put the car on the dyno, get it hot and not have enough blower to imitate the positive pressure on the nose and you will negate the benefit of removing them = no hp gains shown. The dynos that show hp gains? It was cold and they have great blowers.
      The MAF’s are only used for IAT readings on the S650, not for tuning. The car in 100+ passes down the track consistently picked up 1mph in the data which is more like a 20-25hp gain.

    The white clips can also be released by just pushing in on the same lock tab, it spreads the tabs so they will clear the barb on the fitting. That's how I've always done it, although removing the retainer entirely works too I suppose lol. Also I'm pretty sure the MAF sensor is keyed a certain way to prevent installation in the wrong direction

    • @MurphysLawGarage
      @MurphysLawGarage  Před 8 měsíci +1

      I tried pushing the locking tab in and it fought me jumping the lip on the barb so I just pushed the clip out, maybe others wont have as much trouble. Honestly I didn’t try to spin the MAF, but it looks symmetrical - at least people know to pay attention to orientation now lol.

    • @ice44567
      @ice44567 Před 8 měsíci

      @MurphysLawGarage I figured it out, the holes were offset on the s550 for the maf, but on these cars it wouldn't be so they don't have to manufacture a different part for each side of the dual intake, they can use the same one and just flip it. Thus the directional arrow. So you're right to point it out here. As for the clip, I believe it. Takes a lot of force to pull it off with my method. Yours is probably better especially after many years and heat cycles

      Will this mod void the warranty ?

    • @ice44567
      @ice44567 Před 6 měsíci

      @markjackson4988 no, nobody cares. It's technically illegal and places like California could ref you for it but it's extremely unlikely.

    I was contemplating getting the K&N Typhoon CAI, but this does pretty much the same.
    As for warranty, I’d say why another manufacturer CAI would be approved, but removing the carbon traps bd problematic ?🤷🏻‍♂️

    • @MurphysLawGarage
      @MurphysLawGarage  Před 3 měsíci

      Right, it would be treated the same. Consider doing the ram air mod too. Its in my s650 playlist!

  • @pauld7615

    You can remove the air straightener without damage. You just have to remember that it has an alignment notch so it will only go in one way. Then you can pull the carbon filter out by the small end first and essentially unscrew it without mangling the plastic. Your way is just unnecessarily destructive. Wow😮…..

    • @MurphysLawGarage
      @MurphysLawGarage  Před 2 měsíci

      The plastic that holds it in there is not an air straightener and also a restriction. The air straightener is ahead of the MAF sensors and was not damaged. With more than 100 passes down the track and the stock/hard tire 1/4 mile record owned by this car I’m not inclined to value that opinion 😉

    I seen a video recently and with the carbon filters removed and K&N filters put in the car had the exact same hp on a dyno. They ran it before and after removing the traps and putting K&N filters in. So your wasting your time just leave it alone unless u want a whistle noise like he said 🤣🤣🤣

    • @MurphysLawGarage
      @MurphysLawGarage  Před 4 měsíci +2

      The car consistently picked up .5mph in the 1/4mile after removing them in my testing with slips to prove it and American Muscle recorded +20hp average “under the curve” on their dyno.

    • @MurphysLawGarage
      @MurphysLawGarage  Před 5 měsíci +3

      Only for the intake tube itself, at least thats how warranty laws in America treat it. This also may not be legal in your state for emissions.

      Depending on what’s wrong with your engine You can get a dealership that blames it on your mod

    • @TheLandSharks
      @TheLandSharks Před 3 měsíci

      Yes, if something went wrong all the way to the point of combustion, and even further if the argument was logical.
      Put it back in before you go to the dealership. as long as you’re not throwing a code in memory for pulling them out, you should be just fine. Sorry buddy it doesn’t just void the intake tube. That’s not how the # Warranty law works. Read it again.
      Look that logic would work with say an after market spoiler. And the deck lid gets damaged.
      When you tune, and do anything above the Cadillac converters, it could very well void your warranty on the engine.
      So the safe rule would be, anything below the air intake filter, and above the cats. This still allows you to upgrade your exhaust and intake. Don’t confuse this with altering a Ford part.
      Last, but not least if your vehicles gonna go in for services on the engine, or you’re going to make a warranty claim return the vehicle to stock, make sure there’s no codes that allude to aftermarket parts.

      No emissions out here, but even then this mod is invisible to testing - and FYI, track use is off-road.
