- I picked up this 1965 Chevy C10 shortbed truck after it had been abandoned for over 2 decades. We totally refurbish the brake system, tune up the 250 inline 6, and take it for a drive for the first time in many years.

Yep - I am becoming a fan of this kid - he is soo cool - not camera shy - will be a great mechanic if he choses to go that way - still he could do this for a hobby in his life moving forward - I wish him well. Go JD - still be a kid enjoy your youth.

After watching Mr.DB out of anything or anyone else at the moment and just his constant need to mangle words which now is irritating, I am so thrilled to have a nonsense free shade tree pole barn mechanic to be watching knuckle bust out another sound motor vehicle... sounds sooo good, being I have a volume control.
Also how good it is to note that JD is speaking up in more than one word acknowledgement of Papa's commentary, JD is catching his own wind and not drafting so much on Dad's shadow, keep on keeping on JD, you may end up growing mightier than the oak you hail from if you find the sunshine, reach for the light young man, shade trees will protect you, but it's nice seeing you find your own growth as you lean into the light. My uncle has always had me use transmission fluid on door and hood hinges and pivot points for a similar reason and the fact it has to be really cold for transmission fluid to even be affected by cold weather unlike WD-40 that will freeze up

Oh well, that's fixed now, can't wait to see what's gonna happen with this old Chevy. Been seeing this one on FB for a while!
Yeah, I hear you. While I certainly appreciate them looking out, and I will say I've had VERY few actual fraudulent charges on my account - and all of them got caught pretty much immediately; the automated fraud detection software banks rely on can get a little goofy sometimes. Had a business trip last year where I went into my bank in person ahead of time, told them directly "I will be in this city from this date to this date", and then their system still freaked out and locked my card when I tried to use it in the airport. Even better, it happened right when my auto-pay on my internet bill tried to go through.

you've inspired me for a while to get my own truck to work on and i finnaly got it last week! It was running when i got it off the trailer in my driveway and within 20 minutes i made it to where it no longer starts and i have to wait a month for parts! But im happy to finnaly get my own project truck, thanks for the inspiration!

Most people don’t appreciate how nice it is until the opportunity is gone. I know I didn’t appreciate it and now I wish I could work on something with my dad or just talk to him about life’s problems.

It looks like something my old neighbor would slap together. He was really good at building stuff, but you could tell it was just put together with whatever was on hand.

Love how the missing radiator grille and loose hood makes the truck look like its going "Om Nom Nom Nom" as it bounces along.
I love how you Bobed the rear wheel assembly brakes. When you know what the retainers and springs a suppose to do, you can actualy make the brake work, and I find you a very resourceful man.
Because of this channel i started using tractor and equipment paint for my stuff about to paint my truck with it and then my tractor

Greetings from the UK. I'm Irish, but been living in England for a long time.
This video is a bit of light relief tonight (it's just shy of midnight here).
Had my sister on the phone about 3 hours ago to tell me our Mom died this evening.
So that's a bit of a bummer.
I'll be leaving on a jet plane to go back to Ireland (again) just three weeks after being told to disappear by both my sister & my Dad.
In the meantime, I'm going to continue watching Dalton try to make this pile run (better) & drive.

Unfortunately not.
Here in the UK we're lucky, the vast majority of vehicles have manual transmission, so you make sure you have spark and fuel, then tow them down the road at 40 mph, drop the clutch in second or third gear and if they're going to start, they will. Simple 3000 to 4000 rpm starter.
Are you sure you didn’t do the previous “custom” body and paint on that thing? 🙃 I like it and I’m not a normally a GM guy. They were just great looking trucks. 🛻
The side cover on the 292 is larger is the easiest way to tell a 292 over the other chevy inline 6s. Keep up the good work sir

It's worthwhile keeping a cheap universal classic car wiring harness in stock. That way, when you get a rats nest of wiring, like on this truck, you can quite quickly replace the critical wires. Because the function of each wire (eg, headlights) is printed on the wires, it speeds up the process and avoids mistakes. You can also just discreetly zip tie the remainder of the harness under the dashboard. That means that any future wiring upgrades are much easier.

30 years ago, a coworker gave me a battered (not beer battered....or maybe it was 🤔) 66 GMC. It ran good, but no clutch, no brakes, leaked water from the head like a dorm shower 🚿. But he said "the front end is completely shot. Its too scary to drive." I found the cause quickly: He'd installed white Baja wheels like yours, using SHORT acorn lug nuts. The studs were bottoming out on the end of the nuts before the wheels were on tight. EZ fix. But did you ever replace a head gasket and freeze plugs on a late-70s INTEGRAL-CAST 250 head? The head weighed 100 lbs and I had no cherrypicker! 💪

first thing I learned to drive when I was 10 on my grandma's farm was a mid 60s chevy Apache 3 on the tree fuel gauge didn't work and no gas cap we used a yard stick to check the fuel level and aluminum foil and a rubber band for a gas cap great memories keep up the great work Dalton
That truck seems to run remarkably well and it's going to a good home
I know there is soo much budget builds for LS swaps but if you did a LS swap budget build ->your style would be kick ass and people can learn from a real budget build 🤘😝🤘 keep being you man !

About 50 years ago or so my uncle made his living painting cars. Toby loved Chevy v8 engines. He always said don’t ever buy a Chevy six. I don’t recall why he hated those so bad I just know he did. Have a good one !

Lol you nailed the disassembly problem. I am guilty. My understanding is rear bumpers were optional on a lot of old c10s. Mine has a farmer special, giant angle iron.
I am in fairly dire financial straits lately yet the notion of not passing along a mere $1 per month to Team PBG/Dalton-Jess-JD makes no sense considering the amount of education and entertainment I get. So I fixed that particular dumb decision of mine. Thanks for all you guys do - I'm truly more motivated and encouraged to just work on stuff rather than make excuses why I shouldn't. Man nothing gets me more pumped than a new pbg video , watching your stuff has taught me that you don't have to get it 100% perfect , you don't have to spend a years paycheck , just get it running and enjoy it !
Congrats to the new owners! Since they're local, it would be really cool if - once they get it fixed-up, cleaned-up, & running well - they brought it back so Dalton could film a short update video showing the "final" result (even though we all know a project car like this is never really finished).
Another great video and definitely a good old truck just needs a little love. This is probably one of the best “will it run” on CZcams because…well it’s more than just a will it run. Vehicles get running and driving and things fixed and like with this one go one to live another chapter in its life story. Keep up the amazing videos they’re always the highlight of my Fridays.

65-66 C-10s are the only Chevys I really like, I learned to drive on a 66 with the three on the tree and a straight six. I wanted it to be my first vehicle but I didn't tell my dad that and he sold it.

Had a truck just like that when I was 18 . A very long time ago. 1988 ,,,,,,,,,, Sold it to a friend of mine down the road here , the frame broke in half. He either cobbled it back together or took it to the scrap yard . Thanks man .
