@@PoleBarnGarage I used to service jags of all sorts, even done head gaskets on a V12, still got a crows foot tools I made to get to the underside nuts to get the heads of, then refitted. I knew what i was doing, so your assumption is cockeyed - lol - If you don't know or not got a clue why faff about pretending you know what your NOT doing. We race all sorts of old jags as contact oval sport here In the UK called Banger racing, not like yankee DD, ours are up to 50 cars a race, with one winner over 30 or more laps. Old jags are not that sort after as road cars, , as nothing Is too good to get raced and smashed, even had races for old Rolls Royce`s, but, they MUST run right or get trashed on the first lap. Its Ironic that UK cars are getting bigger from new while USA cars seem to get smaller each year. You will be driving little smart cars soon, and junk everything else, but that's a shame unless you race the boat anchors, or just dump them in big fields for the rats and mouse to eat there insides.
If anyone followed that then humans would’ve never made it to the moon
i dont think this rusty 500 dollar used up jag is going to go overseas to race in some 50 car race yadda yadda so whats there to lose? Your advice sucks, its a hobby to work on cars and everyone learns by experience, its all in good fun.

I don’t know what was funnier. The fact that the car sounds like a helicopter is hovering overhead. JD stomping out the fire that was revealed when you pulled away. Or, JD saying, “oh god I hope it has breaks.” And all of that happened in about a 45 second span. That little segment needs to be the trailer for the eventual documentary of your lives.

As a viewer from the other side of the pond really love the channel, stick with the V12 these are actually pretty strong reliable motors let down by budget cut ancillaries! Go with the twin 4 barrel setup and you will love the sound. Good luck!

Great engineering let down by British Leyland.
So many raced on banger tracks now along with all sorts of old jags, most have a 3litre Essex V6 chucked under the bonnet for reliable power. go check some UK banger videos.

The very calm way the boy comments on the fuel spilll lighting the grass then shows the fire under the car. This guys going ot have an amazing sense of humor and timing.

I think this might be the first car on the channel that could legitimately be called a dangerous hazard to anyone around it. I'm honestly amazed it took this long and the entertainment from it was well worth the wait. The fireball is part of the TRUE jag experience

The dual quad intake sounds very interesting. Almost makes me want to look for one of these shitboxes just to try it. Also, I'm surprised how much better the Jag looks without the front bumper. JD has the best dad ever, seriously. I had nothing like this when I was growing up and cars weren't supposed to be fun.

Thanks to you and Kevin I have a whole new mindset and thus more confidence to work on my own cars. You said once "it doesn't have to be perfect, it just has to work" and that really hit home with me lol. today I took the bed off* my S10 to change the fuel pump which is something I never thought I'd ever be doing by myself, and it works!
Honestly I’d love to see you work on one of those V12’s to remove the fuel injection and install the twin 4 barrels and actually enjoy the JAAAAAG V12 experience.The only downfall of the XJS in my opinion is the 3 speed automatic held back those V12’s a lot. But when you remove that nightmare of fuel injection and let that engine breathe they sound fantastic and make decent power.
Gotta say...that V12 would look pretty sweet in an old rat rod!
Love this, you went so much further than I wouldve, JD is such a good sidekick and cameraman, hope me and my son are able to tinker with things and have fun someday as well.

Your LTD is magnificent! My first car was a '73 with the big block 400. Light custard yellow with a dark green interior. It was a good thing that my dad owned a gas station. It ran great until my brother borrowed it and decided to ignore the oil light. I also enjoyed your interactions with your son. My son is 16 and working on an '84 VW diesel rabbit.
Great video as always. I'm pretty sure D is "delay" on the stalk (i.e. intermittent). Also if you put the manifolds on for 4 single barrel carbs (like all the factory pre-injection V12s) you can shut the bonnet with air cleaners on. You did well to get it going.
These jaaags look much better without big plastic bumpers. I've seen where you can take the chrome top of the bumper from two bumpers, put them together to make a single chrome bar.
I think jaaaag 1.0 with a repaint, euro headlights, and custom bumpers would look sweet.

Just a reminder that a British Rolls Royce V12 Merlin powered the Spitfire during the Second World War. The plane that, even though massively outnumbered, won the Battle of Britain. If you really love engines and you hear a Merlin running, you will never forget it. And yeah, I'm more than a little bit biased, my Grandfather worked alongside those engineers although he migrated to help develop radar.
I also love American V8s. I have one in my Land Rover. Just a beautiful sound.

I enjoy watching your variety of projects. I too have "enjoyed" the ownership of the xjs-V12. I understand this one is too far gone to feasibly rebuild. But, if your looking to use the engine in another project and need help figuring it out, I recommend the channel "living with a classic." I've used the incite from his videos to get my old Jaaag purring. Keep up the good work.
The fastest you will ever run is when you are running to get the fire extinguisher. Don’t ask me how I know. Love your work. JD was cool under pressure.
2 weeks ago I was sprayed by a tiny amount of fuel and it ignited. My face was only on fire for a few seconds before I smothered it. I still received 3rd and 2nd degree burns on my face. So many times I've been complacent 😂

Got to do something with the V12 engine its to cool to end up in a scrapyard, maybe a coffee table or perhaps some lawn art 😅

Those Jag v-12s were notorious for back firing through the intake. Many times I found the air filters were completely charred.

I had a friend with a FV432 APC from Great Britain that had a V12 jag engine in it. Sounded just like that Edit: it was a rolls royce straight 8 or some other multifuel actually according to him.
gotta get that carb swap goin, the engines are fun, you do get bigger displacement kits but thats a whole thing and expensive as hell. they do go up to 7 litres tho, then people twin supercharge them like the old race cars were, but a carb swap is probably all you need to have your fun

Oh no Dalton, you let out all the factory smoke. JD definitely is learning so much by working with you. He will be far ahead of most of his age group. Grind Hard Plumbing channel took one of these and made a custom intake and mounted 2 four barrel carbs on top. They ran it off-road in the Gambler 500. You gotta love those Fred Flintstone floorboards. LOL

Yeah, did the same with the ether on my wife's new to her 97 Camaro. Gave it a little too much of the sauce while there was an open short in three of the spark plug wires. But we caught it on video, so that's nice. It's on my meager channel.

Seeing a big fire and grabbing the extinguisher, I am glad that also happens to even the CZcams professionals and not just us common folk. My 68 F250 did the same thing and I had to bathe the 360 in chem.

I did my apprenticeship at a Jag main dealer from 1985, these bags of cr4p were coming in at 2 years old with major issues, yet stuff from the 50's and 60's just needed regular service items! Best advice for the V12... put the carb conversion on it, the injection system was always absolute junk!
I've never seen an engine put off a fog like that.

I have oldsmobile 307 roller cam V8 gm medium grey metallic and bright red pinstripe grey half roof vinyl top car not factory..., 1986 Buick Regal Factory V8 Sport Coupe Equipped with the Factory Rear Sway Bar and 2.73 Rear gearing in the Eaton Gm 10 bolt one wheeler peeler rear,anyways it stuck the thermostat and was driven 120 miles heading toward where I worked night shift when it happened and mid August was 93 degrees in 99 at 11:45pm blew the top radiator hoses and the bottom radiator one, and broke the inlet of the radiator loose when the top radiator hose blew, and the water pump stopped turning and fed the alternator belt to the fan,so the car even after it was shut off disappeared in the front all the way to the middle of the doors while I waited for it to cool down enough to get it out of the middle of the intersection of the two main highways..
Turns out that the water pump was leaking and the the right side head gasket and intake manifold gasket failed then it stuck the thermostat and cracked the head on the Dr side what a waste of a great strong running roller cam Oldsmobile 307 V8 had 139,781 miles

Growing up here in England back in the 80s & 90s, my dad was a mobile car mechanic. I loved jags, but he kept telling me they were crap. Didn’t matter though, I still loved them & he would always get me involved if he worked on one (as a result I worked on one particularly special old Mk2).
As an adult now, I’m not sure I’d want to own one unless I had a lot of money.
Nice to see they hold their value. 20 years ago in high school, i got a green 1979 XJ12 and paid $500. It was beautiful, with all the michigan salt rust. But we had fun with it. It had the iconic round headlights.
The old LTD deserve duals and four barrel!! Its so good!!
That thing is perfect as is. I have like $700 invested in that beauty and it never fails!

It's a shame really. The XJS never stood a chance being the replacement for the e type. The early 1970s models were rubbish but they did get better over time. I'm only 30 seconds into the video but thought I'd comment anyway. Great channel. Keep up the brilliant work.
Your collection is pretty impressive. Im not a jag guy but that Lemans and the Torino and that step-side chevy you brought back from the grave make a pretty dang sweet stable. Holy Goat is epic too but in a novelty kinda way.👍👊
