- I have adjusted the background music level as per the recommendations in the comments.
This video shows how a shed rafter is cut with a speed square.
I would like to thank those people who commented on the previous video that had the "jukebox" music too loud and made it hard to hear me.
Please leave a comment and give this video a "thumbs up" if you enjoy it.

Thanks, everyone; Gary of Howtosquirrel - Jak na to + styl
it's like really working with an uncle trying to teach you stuff. love how it's dumbed down to make it easy to remember. i won't forget this lesson Uncle Gary! thank you!
Glad to help
At the point where you say rough framing i would measure center of the joist and use large square to set one rafter at center then other will follow.
hope this new video helps

While you fixed the problem with each rafter being 1/2" too short, you did not explain how the error occurred. Was it a simple measuring error, or was it more complicated than that. I ask because, if I follow your instructions for the original cutting of the rafter length without knowing the problem, I will/might(?) also end up with my initial pair of rafter being 1/2" too short.
Also, as a newbie to the art of shed building (and wood working in general), I wonder if you can explain what the 5-12 pitch indicates/means. What pitch/slope/incline would the roof have (with a 5/12 pitch) and why did you choose it? I live in a state with heavy winter snows from about October through March. I wish to build an 8'x16' shed (with a metal roof) with a slope sufficient to shed the winter snow buildup. What minimum roof incline would you suggest for this purpose?
Thank you for your time in reading and considering my questions.
I think we got the idea. It should be 58 inches without deduction of the thickness of the ridge. Correct me if I'm wrong. Thanks
yes you are correct about the ridge board,
Here is the same video with a lower background music volume

Hi! This video shows how you make the cuts and making the cuts but does not explain where you get the numbers, angles, lengths and why. I do appreciate your video though, I just wouldn't know how to go about it if the shed was wider or thinner or the height of the middle was higher or lower. See what I'm getting at?
Good point, I will create a article in the near future giving more details. Thanks for watching
Nice video but all the moving around made me dizzy.😵💫
Sorry about that
@@unclegarybuilds2023 its ok, i enjoyed watching anyway.🙂
