- In this video, I will show you how to reset your oil life and how to properly change your oil in a Ford F-150 with a 3.5 liter Eco boost, and what type of oil to use. Ford recommends using a 5W30 synthetic blend oil. This oil change will be the same on the Ford F-150 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024. Yes, you can use full synthetic oil as long as it meets or exceeds the API service rating. This video is to help my viewer to fix it themselves and to help instill confidence in one's own ability to do so.

great idea using the strainer...thanks. I will be doing that going fwd
Thanks
I’ve always changed my own oil, but I’m coming from Ram to a newer Ford, so I was looking for a video. Thanks for putting this together, makes life easier knowing what to expect. I also found your storage solution for the cover very ingenious!
I hope that it helps. The oil pan cover is at the storage facility ha ha. Thanks for watching.
I have only worked on v8s before and thought these new eco boosts would have a bunch of stuff in the way so went on to watch you video and realized how simple it’s. Thanks for taking the time to film and share this.
Thank you! It’s people like you that keep me going. Thanks for watching.
@@fixitjohn6:05 was halarious😅
@@divinedents Thanks divinedents! I try to bring a little humor. Thank you for watching. Good luck with your channel.
Love your video. Funny as hell. And all the important and essential parts well explained. Loved the part on 12 year olds... 😂
Glad you enjoyed it! I am boring enough. I try to spice it up with some dry humor.
Great video. Been changing oil with VALVOLINE FOR 40 YRS. Bought 2 containers VALVOLINE 5-20 at MEIJER full syn for 30$. Holiday sale 18 ESCAPE . yes the dealer wants 89.95 for full syn oil change. First oil change ever was on a 56 Ford Fairlane ....Thunderbird 312 V=8 3 SPD on the column w over drive. I replace the cover on the Escape ,just me 😆
Good stuff. Thanks for sharing.
Flood mode and you don't need to pre-fill the filter. Great video!! I'm probably going to ditch my skid plates, I'm sure it doesn't make much of a difference for mileage lol
I know that the cover is just a pain.
If the truck is on the jack stands like yours is. It’s titled back more and maybe why the oil filter oil didn’t drain out of that chute because of that. It’s tight but you can get under the truck without one. Great video!
Could be, but if you look at it closely you will see that it is designed to carry the oil back. It is a lot more sloped towards the back. I think the front funnel is if it gushed out. Thanks for watching.
That is exactly what I've been saying, not that much more expensive for full synthetic. I do mine myself as well and use the same oil, but have not used the one qt of High mileage. That may be good for the seals. I was watching to see if I could learn any shortcuts. I fill my filter with oil as well. I like the strainer idea. One other thing I do on the first start is hold the accelerator to the floor while cranking to keep it from starting right away to let it pump some oil before starting. I saw a Ford mechanic do that, said it is designed to not turn over with the accelerator to the floor. And finally, I only kept the cover to thinking that might deter someone from taking my catalytic converter.
I did not know that holding the accelerator down would not allow the vehicle to start. I will have to try that. The engine pan cover is only a Bologna skin. I don't think that it would stop a catalytic thief. Thank you for watching.
Yes, it wouldn't stop a smart thief but counting on another target being easier. Great video, thanks!
have tried using oil vacuum extractor ? extracting the oil through the dipstick area?
I have not tried that. Have you? Thanks for watching. Keep in touch.
How do you round off an oil plug. Two simple ingredients. A goof with a crescent wrench.
That will make the perfect recipe.
there’s really no point in pre-filled filter as engine won’t pump anything until pump primes from pickup tube and system fills up and starts pushing through filter.
All you’re doing is risking pouring plastic or any other crap that could be in bottles into filter and then pushing it through engine ahead of the filter.
I disagree
What size oil filter?
I can not remember what size of the filter. Here is a link to my other oil change video and the part number of the oil filter that will work. czcams.com/video/7nlayKq8JrQ/video.htmlsi=7Eu5mAAxgiFl5e0W
5:13 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂🤣🤣😂😂😂
I just got a 2.7 and I love the filter to be on the top of the engine, but I’ll let the dealer deal with that
Yes, that could be messy. Thank you for watching.
I worked at a respected place that had an employee that collected dozens of plastic skid plates. He hated them with a passion, never once did a customer come back after offroading. Oh wait. None of the tens of thousands of customers actually offroaded. Weird.
I wouldn’t go as far as calling them a skid plate. I think of them more as a dust cover. I see those things flopping around all the time going down the road. I bet the next guy that changes the oil will be happy someone didn’t put it back on haha. Thanks for sharing.
So what you are saying is that you know a guy who steals parts from vehicles because he is lazy.
You just describe a lazy unprofessional, who is equally a thief!
