    Doesn't it depend on lumber type, heat (plenty of hot weather) and humidty? yellow pine in SE GA, bark side up. I'm finishing up replacing rotted joists and deck boards o 20' x 20' deck. I fell through 2½ ft tall deck, 3 times. No injuries due to my "cat-like" reflexes. 65+ year old grandma.

      Redwood and cedar can be layed either way usually using the finished side up. When laying pressure-treated pine I prefer bark side down. At any rate, I am sure that your deck will look good for many years. I would try to seal the deck once it dries out in a month or so. I myself have developed those cat-like reflexes but it is after I hit the ground. Thank you for watching.

    Hi John, I have an ESP-6, at this point I do not want to fix it. I just want to disable it so how do I do that? Ideally, I would just turn the valves off and leave them off forever and just use of a surface sprinkler. I guess my question is how do I turn the valves off permanently? the fault keeps the valves on right now.

    • @fixitjohn
      @fixitjohn Před dnem

      Hi Tim, you can just unplug it the valves need power at the solenoid to open the valve up. If you have reclaimed water you can shut it off at the meter.

    Save yourself some money and just buy phosphate-free dishwashing detergent. It can be either liquid or granular. There is nothing else you need. Been doing it for years. Soak it overnight and rinse it really well with a spray hose. Your filters will look pristine white. You don’t need to spend money on any proprietary products. That’s just biological waste on the filter. Dishwashing detergent is meant to remove exactly that. Just make sure, again, that it is PHOSPHATE-FREE.

    • @AereForst
      @AereForst Před 3 dny

      @@fixitjohn Speaking of pools, I struggled with yellow algae for years. Wasted tons of money on shock. All that shock screwed up my pool chemistry, including out of control, cyanuric acid and calcium levels. Eventually, you end up draining the pool because there’s no way to correct it other than through draining. Ever since I began adding PoolRx to my pump basket I’ve never had an algae problem. Best $100/year I’ve ever spent. It releases chelated copper which kills algae. I have a pebbletec pool and have never had a problem with staining. The PoolRx also requires way less pool chemicals to maintain chemistry. So you end up saving a ton of money on shock. One unit lasts 6 months then add a booster but keep the unit in there. That lasts another six months. Then replace unit. I only use Dichlor if I need cyanuric acid otherwise I use straight liquid chlorine at night because sunlight will destroy it. The liquid chlorine will not mess with your chemistry, but Dichlor will it will raise your stabilizer or cyanuric acid level. I also avoid calcium based shock because even though it’s the most powerful, it will raise your calcium level, which is a huge problem.

    I've had issues with SuperTech oil maintaining oil pressure. I have a 2002 Tacoma. Every time I use SuperTech oil I have problems with low oil pressure at idle. When I use Mobil One or Quaker State, no pressure issues. All oils were 10W-30 full synthetic, high mileage formulations. Granted, the engine does have 250,000 miles. There's a lot easier way of doing this. It involves removing the 2 bolts that hold the fuel head to the motor. No need to remove the inner fender well. You do need to remove the air intake for easier access.

    THANK YOU John, much appreciated video and i like the proof on of concept, i always thought it was the complete oposite but i must admit i am removing an old deck at the moment and the most rotten planks are the ones cupping, obviously i guess. I will build the new one using that technique !
