      This is what I was thinking. It’s more than a little mind blowing the social shift that has occurred. Fred Armison’s character is clearly the most “absurdly woke” character in the show and yet, that very character would get canceled today for saying “women can’t grow mustaches that thick”.

      @E L I guess I used the wrong phrase. Maybe not Western Culture, but Western Civilization? That form of Government started by the Greeks and Romans? You know, the United States was originally set up as a Constitutional Republic. A form of government in which officials are elected by citizens to lead them as directed by their country’s Constitution. Anymore though we're seeing an Oligarchy, a country ruled by a few individuals or groups, like powerful wealthy families, or powerful Corporations that are slowly but surely eroding our rights. One example would be the patriot act. It was initially enacted under the guise of "fighting terrorism" but it's curtailed a lot of rights people used to have. For example, courts used to require a warrant to tap your phone or intercept your e-mail. But because of the Patriot Act, you just need to be labeled as a "person of interest" or "suspected terrorist" and a warrant isn't required.

    • @donmiller2908
      @donmiller2908 Před 2 lety +1

      @E L It's hard to explain because I'm not a professional writer. But what it has to do with the clip is the way the people running the store are talking, the ideas they're spewing as if they're sane, rational and expected to be accepted. This is happening everywhere and no one questions it, everyone tolerates it. It's just a general feeling that ideas are being slowly introduced by the entertainment industry, media organizations and institutes of higher learning with the purpose of undermining traditional values. Society has changed drastically since I was a kid and it can't be argued that the changes have been for the better. Maybe I have paranoid delusions and need help, I don't know. I just feel there are elements, I'll call them, that are trying to bring about change that isn't improving the country. For example, when I was a kid going to school, whether it was 1st grade or 12th, it was unheard of for a kid to bring a gun to school, this just didn't happen. It was unheard of for a kid to get into a physical altercation with a teacher. It was unheard of to have cops walking the halls. It was unheard of for kids to have to go through checkpoints that had metal detectors. It was unheard of to have kids going from class to class, not as students, but as dealers selling whatever the flavor of the month was. I'm not saying this occurs in every school, I'm saying that it didn't occur in ANY school when I was a kid. No one can argue that this change is for the better, yet it's tolerated. The school situation is just one example of society falling apart in my opinion, there are others, and it's all being tolerated like this is the way things are supposed to be.
