Me and my girlfriend used to listen to always the same music in our cars. When we sat in mine, it was Passenger. I heard this song in loop and when she was with me, she new that this song meant a world to me.
We decided, that if Mike comes to town, we will go and listen to him.
Well sadly, we broke up and that took so much.
I knew I had to carry on, like Mike sings in holes. But it's not what I wanted, still isn't.
Half a year later, passenger visited Vienna and I asked a good friend of mine, if she wanna join me. But I warned her, that I most likely will get emotional there. So I enjoyed his Runaway gig and he played nearly every song I ever wished. I thought- whispers would be perfect for me, but if any possible, not with stopping playing guitar during the song, like he mostly does live. But the last song was survivors and it was okay.
I head a great day.
When he came back on stage for one more song, the audience sang the chorus of "Scare away the dark" and he joined in again.
And just when I thought it cant get any better, he started to play whispers.
At this moment I stopped clapping, started to cry immediately and all went out.
We were supposed to stand there together and all this loneliness in a crowd of standing people tore me appart. So i sang along with tears running down my cheeks, missing her like I didnt for weeks.
I was grateful, that he pulled all the held back emotions out of me, and when he usually hang the guitar over his back, he continued playing, like if someone had told him, that it would mean a fortune to me.
Still have to cry while writing about this great moment in my life.
My friend stood next to me and held my arm, letting me know she was there for me and that she understood.
So Mike got me to Tears in no time, but as he ended, he started right away holes.

No better ending to a concert and a love story, that didnt last.

I was at my friends a few months back and he got his laptop out and opened CZcams up and asked me to show him some good songs, i played the Bing Lounge live version of this. We were silent for a while just listening to mike perform and i looked at Ash and he had tears streaming down his face and i asked him what was up, he said 'this song feels like it was written for me' he'd had a lot of trouble with depression recently and this song connected with him. He was out celebrating his birthday 18th July and was having a great time, he died early hours of 19th, he collapsed and went into cardiac arrest, was 29. He had heart problems and wasn't really supposed to drink. I'm going miss him a lot. I had this song played at his funeral on Monday, this song will always mean a lot to me now. I want to say thanks for the beautiful music Mike, you touched Ash like I've never seen before. Thank you

This sentence hit me like nothing ever before! I can thoroughly relate to what he says... There's no need for you to shout so you can let your voice be heard. There's no need for amazing grand acts so you can stand out and amaze the world... The smallest little act you make, the simplest truthful word you say, can have the ability to turn a life around. It all counts no matter how small or big. What matters the most is your true intention. You can easily stand out of the crowd simply by being you and spreading all the love and kindness this life offered you.

I went back to my passion(supported reluctantly at first by my lovely nervous wife) and decided to go back into songwriting. I'd played with it at 14(one label once got my age twisted around the wrong way after i'd sent some songs to be checked out...they thought i was 41(I WAS ACTUALLY 14) and sent me a "SORRY, ON THIS OCCAISSION WE HAVE TO TELL YOU THAT YOUR WRITING IS NOT IN CURRENT KEEPING WITH TODAY'S MARKETPLACE"..there was a post-it note attached which read.."BY THE WAY..ARE YOU AWARE YOU WRITE LIKE NEIL YOUNG???".....OK THEN.... This time, the passion is REALLY there. I've since built a small Record Label called SONIC FOXX RECORDS and pride myself in searching for exceptional(or as near as dammit) voices of unknowns to work with.....and have now started to release songs.
Kinda wish i'd done it 25 years, 364 days, 23 hours and 59 seconds ago!!!!
Also i'm reliably informed that "behind every budding successful songwriter is an astonished mother-in-law"....CAN'T WAIT....may be difficult though...i don't speak to her...funny, it seems to have coincided with "YOU'RE GONNA DO WHAT???.....PACK YOUR BUSINESS IN TO TRY AND BECOME A SONGWRITER....DREAM ON".....so i did,then WENT TO WORK....
Google JASMINE LAMPORT or URBAN SEASCAPE or HANNAH DRURY and you'll know "WHY?"...................my wife seems more confident now...well, she is finally actually telling her friends "my husband is now a PROFESSIONAL SONGWRITER"...as for the mother-in-law....she can JOG ON.

Most folk in and around of the music industry maybe???...writers, singers....very few of these ever quit MUSIC.
I think the key sentence to look out for which folk come out with if they love their job is as follows...."I CAN'T BELIEVE I AM GETTING PAID FOR SOMETHING I LOVE DOING...THE THING I'M MOST PASSIONATE ABOUT"...........for years i've had jobs, even run businesses and have still struggled at times to motivate myself to actually want to do those "jobs"...then one day...i wrote a few lyrics on a sheet of paper and decided...THIS IS WHAT I WANT TO DO FOR THE REST OF MY DAYS...because those words began to touch folk..in ways which i couldn't believe.
Now i write lyrics for folk who find it difficult...they play instruments and most of them can really sing...but they are not so artistic in the lyrical area.
Anything on SONIC FOXX MUSIC has been written by me, lyrically....and it sparked my interest in music.......I USED TO OWN A CLEANING COMPANY(for 26 years) but GREEDY BANKERS killed that...so, i decided to write, write, write and kept on writing and eventually packed in the cleaning and started a small Record Label....if you youtube JASMINE LAMPORT ORIGINAL AUDIOS you will find some of our co-written songs on there...i'm always on the lookout for "exceptional singers" who are appealing to Joe public.....and after 10 years of doing this...I JUMP OUT OF BED TO WRITE....sometimes you just have to JUMP...and risk that leap.

This song made me cry. It made me think. I know I sound like some emotional idiot trying to gain attention, but I am serious. I have some issues with people in my life, some problems that I feel with eventually end in tragedy. I don't see a reasonable solution to them. This just made me think about them very deeply. Sure, there are other songs that make me teary and such, but this song doesn't even need me to try to make myself think, it just does. Passenger is the one band that truly fits my life.
