  • FIX this TERRIBLE NOISE Coming from your Harley Street Bob 114! Ever since I have had my 2022 Harley Street Bob 114 I have had a terrible vibration and rattle from the stock gas cap. I will finally change out the gas cap to see if that helps fix the noise!

Had the rattle on my ‘22. Happened to be at the nearest Harley shop, about an hour from home, in the wife’s car. Stopped in to ask about it and they said it was covered under warranty, but I had to bring the bike in for them to verify that was the issue. The only other option was to buy a replacement at $80. I went home and ordered a black locking gas cap (fuel thieves) for about $30 online from Drag Specialties. I’ve had it for nearly a year and absolutely no complaints.

I’m a chrome guy, but the black does look better on your bike than the chrome one. Glad that fixed it for you. That rattle was annoying I bet. Of course it sucked having to pay the Harley tax. The parts from Harley though are always top notch.

I had the same problem on my 21 Low rider s. I took mine off, flipped it over, and with a medium-sized punch, just put a couple of little divots around the outer rim to tighten it up. So far it is still rattle free.

I didn't like the look of the gas cap on my '21 street bob, knew it had to go away. I ordered a pop-up in black with a self contained trim ring, just part of the overall design. Shortly after installing the new cap I couldn't get it to pop up, I ending up twisting the unit out using the integral trim ring. The shaft attached to the pop up has a spring on it, a little flat washer and pin going through the shaft to hold it all together. The pin had slipped out almost all the way and jammed inside the cap housing.so I knurled the pin and used red loctite on it. Works fine now but I wonder where that little pin would have gone once it dropped into my tank. Can't remember the brand but it wouldn't hurt to check out what's holding your pop-up spring in place. I like your vids.

On my 2023 Street Bob, I had trouble since day one its ownership. Water got around the stock gas cap and froze making it difficult to remove the gas cap. Revzilla sells a chrome gas cap in similar design to the stock version. It sold for $15 and while I did have to add a second washer because it was not a perfect fit the problem is solved. I looked at the pop up gas cap, but I was worried about the pop up feature malfunctioning and I would be unable to easily get the cap off.

I was thinking about that spring malfunction too. Hopefully not

I never heard my gas cap rattle, but I did change mine within 500 miles of being new.

I put the flush mount on my Sport Glide about 2 years ago. I don't remember if I had that rattle though....my flush mount was 200 CAD because I have the dummy cap as well

Why would HD install a removable gas cap? Without doubt people will drop this on their tank. That new black cap looks good.

How about a round rubber gasket to take up the slack?

You should of gotten a red gas cap flush mount looks much better than red. Just my opinion. I have a black 2023 fatboy with a black flush mount looks much nicer

I've had dozens of Harleys...I've never had that issue...probably just buy another gas cap...or maybe they will give you one on warranty.
