Considering the fact that one of them was fucking with the IRS and, that would start a federal investigation into the whole department, the only way to dodge the bullet and running the risk of all their dirty laundry getting aired out is by firing them and publicly putting them on blast. If the IRS wasn't involved I would probably agree with you.

The culture of defending their own cops at any cost; right, wrong or indifferent, is why they cannot be trusted. “Stunned. Because we won the review board hearing,” is code for, “We got away with it, when we were investigated by our own buddies, so why be all honest?” Like he literally doesn’t get it?! That cops are meant to be the good guys!? Honestly chilling . . .

    • @dennisjohnsen7297

A police union is there for one reason, to defend the police. What I think would be best is if the Union takes on the risks of employing an officer that posses a potential risk. You and I have various types of insurance. Auto insurance premiums reflect the potential risk we pose. If we pose too much of a risk, the insurance company will not insure us, correct? If an officer demonstrates that he/she has had multiple issues, then the Union can either keep employing that officer fully aware of the financial risk, or terminate that officer because of the risk. Does that make sense to you? Taxpayers footing the bill for Officer misconduct, and police unions have no risk of any financial burden for the questionable officers they fight to keep on the force, just so they can continue to receive Union dues.

Bad mouthing metermaids or overpaid crossing guards aka cops is lazy. Join a dojo and beat the shit out of them legally, if you find them too egotistical to tolerate. Realistically, it is just a job for undereducated/uneducated lazy people.

How is it cops can find lawyers who will sue for wrongful termination when their client is clearly in the wrong and I couldn’t find one when I was fired because I wouldn’t stop helping coworkers when management wouldn’t?
I was followed into the bathroom on my break by a male manager telling me I was making him look bad by helping the others.
I was the trainer for that office. He was mad that employees would come to me for help after they asked him twice and got no response. In other words when they asked him, he would hang up on them and do nothing.
Then when I got so fed up with his harassment on this I stopped helping everyone including him. Meaning I would not show up before my shift to open the office or stay late to close up.
I was told I was being a burden to him and not being a team player. I had over Step my boundaries and so I was fired.
Same guy called me the next day and threatened to fire me again if I didn’t come into work the next day.
When I tried to sue, I was told by 2 lawyers I didn’t have a case.

It takes a lot for the Chief in this day to do something like this. She should be Commended for doing what's truly right. Instead of turning a blind eye.

Notice how the Police Benevolent Association steps up and says that firing the officer was wrong, even if he was a criminal engaged in criminal action.

Astonishing how cheaply they sold themselves out. How stupid do you have to be to ruin your own life for $1,600

That's the PROBLEM RIGHT THERE THE UNION.
THE DON'T CARE WHAT A COP DOES AS LONG AS THEY "NEVER" TELL ON ANOTHER COP.

Six months paid vacation and then will get reinstated. This story keeps getting repeated around the country.

Flushed her life away for $1900...then again, like the chief said, this most likely wasn’t the first time stealing...just the first time getting caught.

A thief a liar should be treated no better then the people that they serve so Justice was fair. However, any attorney who will lie and cheat and steal the law for their client is no better than any other person on the street who has committed a crime and that attorney should be brought up on charges.

If neither deserve to work in your agency, then they do not deserve to be rehired anywhere in the United States as police officers.
