    Chips looked good for £2 the thing is though our local chippy does 3 large fish strips in batter a small battered sausage, chips and sauce of choice £5.50 and the portion does 2 easy so for £16.50 easy feed four its really worth looking at your local chippy specials board. Fun review though and I always wondered what that range in frozen was like so thanks 👍🏼😀

      Please you enjoyed the video. £5.50 for all you listed is an awesome price, their queue must be massive. That really is a fantastic price.

      Eastbourne...! We were trying to think of the ones we had visited and this was the one we forgot about. We stayed down for the Airbourne Show. Can certainly understand good deals are available in other chip shops. Not tried the fish pieces but we are going to have to head back and try the fishcakes which have some poor reviews. Shane and Lisa xx

    I've had the battered sausages all the batter fell off and the sausages were mushy. Never again. If you want to save a bit of money on the fish but still have something as an alternative to a chip shop fake away. Asda do some Young's dine out at home battered cod extra large. They're really good. Currently on offer for £4. Might aswell save the £2.50. could get a bag of decent chips and a tub of curry sauce granules or mushy peas with the money saved on the Iceland fish.

      @ShaneAndLisa  Před rokem

      We found the batter was starting to fall away from the battered sausages, in fact it is visible in the video thumb. Guess the 'dine out/Gastro' wording signifies the Youngs top line. Will look out for them. £4.50 currently showing on Asda website. Even so you've still got £2 in your pocket for some chips and sauce.

      @@ShaneAndLisa they might have been £4.50 then and I read it wrong 😂. But even still they're extra large so should still be big. The box was big anyway but obviously that doesn't always mean anything. The weight wasn't far off the harry Ramsdens ones, which aren't harry Ramsdens fish Iceland have always sold them. They used to be £5 before. The extra £1.50 must be going towards using the HR name.

      Think I can remember them at a fiver in the Iceland box but perhaps going back some time now. They used to do some really good meats too at a fiver but those discontinued and only a select few came back in a different box at a higher price. Box size * expectations is proportional to disappointment * star reviews on opening 😅

      I don't know about their dine out at home range, but regular youngs extra large ones are tiny, like childrens portions and so much grease comes off the batter they swim in it. Aldi do huge ones more like the size you'd get at the chippy and nowhere near as greasy for the same price. Looked up the youngs dine at home range, they are £10 per kilo. The aldi ones are £8.67 per kilo and so big they take 35 min to cook in the oven, they do cod or haddock.

    Interesting watched this vid immediately went to Iceland app to check out rest of range read reviews all products almost universally Slagged Off sausages were deemed inedible and the Jumbo Cod fillets which you didn't buy claims were made of batter tasting of curry personally speaking I don't take that much notice of nasty reviews will have to try some

    They aren’t even made by Harry Ramsden, they’re made by Iceland - which makes the whole ‘exclusive to Iceland’ branding utterly utterly stupid. You’re right when you mention paying more for the brand because that’s all consumers are doing here - paying for Iceland to pay Harry Ramsden to sign an agreement to plaster their name on a product.
    Harry Ramsden isn’t even a highly regarded brand anymore, so I’ve no idea what Iceland’s game is here.
    You can get two jumbo battered cod fillets from Aldi xfor £3.99, no doubt no worse than these except that they’re made for Aldi and Iceland’s are made for Iceland.

    • @Matt19matt19
      @Matt19matt19 Před rokem

      Aye. I think all bar Greggs are made by Iceland. Greggs seems to be the only one that is just cooking it yourself at home but the end product is the same.

      @PotatoPirate123 Před rokem

      @PotatoPirate123 Před rokem +1

      @@ShaneAndLisa yeah a product is always going to be exclusive to Iceland if Iceland make it! It would be like McDonald’s putting ‘exclusive to McDonald’s’ on their burgers. It would be true of course, but it’s also meaningless.
      Interestingly the Heinz Beanz pizza is also made for Iceland and doesn’t really seem to have been overseen by Heinz very much other than in the process of signing the agreement. They have taken ownership of it in various articles though, so maybe that was just part of the agreement with Iceland.
      I’ve looked through the archives and it seems that back in 2001 it might have actually been made by Heinz, as I can find articles from Sainsburys advertising the plain or sausage one for £1.59. Makes me wonder if the Iceland one is a true relaunch that tastes the same or if it’s just cashing in on the name/hype

    • @Matt19matt19
      @Matt19matt19 Před rokem +1

      @@PotatoPirate123 that Heinz beanz pizza is just trying to cash in on nostalgia. Buy a 66p Asda just essentials pizza, open a tin of beans, add a few to the pizza and then bake. Same result for less than a third of the price.
