Thank you for sharing this. I saw another video where the guy (who happened to be a certified mechanic) cut the wires behind the couplers on the main harness and soldered heavier gauge wires on that harness. My 2013 Ram had/has this problem when driving for prolonged travel, such as a several hundred mile trip. Pretty scary and very frustrating.

@@JoelsDriveway How this well-chronicled problem across (likely) millions of trucks wasn't/isn't a mandatory recall item, I'll never know. We have moose and bears up on my end of Interstate 35 (and I-75) and I don't want to blast one at night while pulling a 4,000 lb travel trailer in a poorly lit, sparsely populated region of the country.

@@danielhuculak1877 Very true! Limited visibility is a serious safety issue. I just watched the video you mentioned where he solderes the wires directly. Seems like a good fix as well. If mine fail again, i might try it out. Although I wonder if there will be issues in the long term.

You can tin the ends of cut wires but crimping is far superior to soldering. Some lights can pull more amperage than others and a solder joint will fail where a crimp joint won’t.

My 14 ram has projector headlights and the passenger light works sometimes and doesn’t. I checked my harness a month ago and some wires were touching bare together just outside the harness and it looked like it was trying to melt. Just curious do you think this would help mine if I change the harness also?

These replacement wires are not compatible with my headlights, so I was trying to find the version that would be compatible, but I'm not having any luck in my search. Was hoping you could give me an idea of how you found these.

I don't think its the harness. The electrical system is having issues with the LED bulbs. Do you have resistors installed? Look up online "anti flicker resistor/capacitor" kits for your year model. They wire into your current harness and should fix your issue.

@@pugsley735 Did you find out what the problem was? If not, probably should look into replacing the FCM, front control module. It is situated underneath and attached to the TIPM unit, driver's side engine block, by the fuse box. Unfortunately, 4th generation Dodge trucks have an issue with the unit going bad, and taking headlight power out. It's pricey, even for a refurbed one. Bastards know it and never bothered to correct the vulnerability. It is QUITE unreasonable to expect owners to pay $400-1000 to fix headlights. Of course, the manufacturer doesn't want to pay for a safety recall, unless the NHTSA forces them to. Such crap!
