- Oculus Quest 2 is the most versatile VR headset on the market, but is it worth buying over the Valve Index, Vive Cosmos, and Pimax 5K Plus? How does it compare to the Quest 1? In today's review, I give my opinion on all of this and also list my favorite games for the Oculus Quest 2.

I wanted to add some things here: 1) I dove into the settings more. I recommend accurately setting up your guardian system and just turning down how aggressively it displays the walls in the settings. I no longer encourage you to make the guardian setup larger than needed. Just tweak the settings. Much safer/better! 2) 90hz has been enabled in a lot of games now! Enjoy!! 3) Oculus has added "Oculus Move" which counts your calories burned through the movement of your headset and controllers. Seems to work really well for tracking your fitness and energy burn! Try it out!

@@balued9624 64 GB if you want to install about 20 games on average (will depend on the game size a LOT), 256 GB if you want to install insane amounts of games and/or store lots of files (like VR video recordings, photos, 3rd party apps/tools from Side Quest). I got the 256 GB version.

where did you buy one, did you buy one or amazon or smth because I dont know where is the best place to buy one.
There will be no such things in 10 years. Valve said they are not even interested in VR headsets anymore since they are working on brain interfaces that directly stream information to your brain...
@@xbr1238 no?
@@xbr1238 I heard they are already starting to do stuff like that, types of 'headsets' that just use your brain to control them. Just got this for RE4 and it probably the best experience with a VR headset I've ever had, being completely wireless is a godsend.
This was a lot of help for me deciding on the best affordable vr experience, thank you!
I love my Quest 2. I got it day of release and i'm still having "holy crap" and "wow" moments. My PC was a decade old when I got the Quest 2 and I was more than happy with the native games. But I built a beast of a gaming PC a few weeks ago and wow. Blown away. I love that I can take the Quest 2 places and can also PCVR with it. Such an awesome product for the price. I personally don't care about the Facebook requirement. Anyone who does anything online these days and think they have privacy is naïve.
id rather pay 100 dollars more, which is nothing to me, than to sell out my privacy rights like some cheap prostitute. Everyone is different, majority of the people who play with these VR headsets are kids so I understand why privacy may be a non issue but its definitely not the same for a good portion of the adult base.

Just discovered you today when looking for reviews on RTX 3060 performance on laptops. Saw this review of the Oculus Quest 2 on your playlist, and since I'm a very happy owner of one, was curious what you thought. I’m so glad you mentioned the sweet spot. I’ve been having difficulty getting the Oculus in just the right spot. I’ve watched several videos on how to make it more comfortable but nobody has mentioned the sweet spot which if you use it you figure out what that is pretty quick. I thought it was a vision issue with me. Of course because each time it goes on a little different sometimes I have resorted to placing something like a soft cloth under the head strap, as no matter how I manipulate the strap it just doesn’t line up.

Your review was the best of all I've seen - good enough that I subscribed. Thank you. The answer to the 2 hour used before recharge came to me from the "Anker Power Bank" my daughter gave me last year. The battery cost $32 and the power cord for the Quest 2 another $8 ( I could have bought the Anker lite for $22). The battery goes in my pocket so not tied to anything and I've gone 4 hours with power left over...a very cheap answer to unlimited power as far as I am concerned.
I just tried one for the first time last night and I’m mind blown. This was the most amazing virtual experience (the first too lol) I ever had. Helpful review. Thanks.
The XR2 chip is hugely capable and enabling 90Hertz doesn’t quite significantly reduce battery life. With my use, the battery is slightly decreased with 90Hertz, around 20-30 minutes lesser battery life.
Okay, do a timed test and let me know what results you get... On my quest, I seemed to notice less battery life once I enabled 90 hz, but I haven't done a scientifically timed test. I was actually mainly repeating what the developer told me about why Oculus hasn't allowed devs to enable it yet. Would you know another logical reason?
Almost always when it comes to GPU loads, increasing the frame rate by 25% (72-->90), will cause an increased power draw to the GPU (more FPS = ramping clock speeds on chips), draining the battery noticeably faster. How much? Hard to say without timed testing.
@@GizmoSlipTech So with my use, I already have a timed battery test with 72Hertz which was 2 hours and 27 minutes. With 90Hertz enabled in the new update I got 2 hours and 3 minutes. I guess it was my perception that didn’t notice lesser battery life. So 24 minutes less battery life FOR ME. The game I was playing was SUPERHOT VR, as that game has 90Hertz support.
To be honest I didn’t notice it, but when I timed it, it was clear the battery does drain quicker.
By the way great review anyway, love these VR videos!
@@JungleMU Thanks for doing the test! That's about what I was expecting for battery drain. 25% more rendering, 17% less battery life. Other things like screen and speakers will also make a big difference, hence why it doesn't match up exactly. Also, if you're doing lighter things like VR video the hz refresh rate won't matter as much (like with Virtual Desktop streaming 90hz probably, though I haven't tested it out).
Very informative! Thank you!

I tried out one at my buddy's place the other day. I was still under the impression that VR sets need room sensors. Seeing him setup the virtual play area, and then poking my head out to see the rest of the room mid-game, beside it being my first VR experience, was mind-blowing. Growing up as a millenial-gen z cusper, technology doesn't surprise me often, but wow. This is crazy.
The powerful ones need room sensors still, Like a valve index which is about $1000 USD. valve index comes with full finger tracking and a much better headset, and since it also tracks your movement room-scale you would also need a bigger play area so it comes with the 2 sensors that can be set up 10m x 10m. quest 2 is still a great headset, and being able to use it wireless puts it above index in a few spots (no tripping over wires in vr, lol) but you would immediately notice the differences if you were playing a game in the quest 2 then switched over to the index.
