My channel is about VR Content (obviously lol) I've covered many topics on this channel in the past such as PC Building, PC Gaming Knowledge, Gaming News. That can be CPM rates, Industry knowledge, Business knowledge, how to edit, how to build a gaming PC, budget or not. But VR is cooler so I'm probably gonna keep doing that.
I'm like the monkey you send into space for tests. I just come back with the results and give them to you for FREE.

Small Update:
Life Hack Number 6 (5:33): If you live in areas of the EU or an older home you might actually benefit from locking the headset to 50Hz instead of 60Hz. As 60Hz can sometimes clash with the lighting frequency of lights in your home 👀
Aren't we 50Hz in Australia too? Auto mode is best :)
@@joshwhittaker1825 bruh u don't know ftw cmon
Thank you for this video
you know your shit, and you're actually willing to inform casuals, props.
I think you understand this setting wrong. It must be set to the frequency of you outlet. 60Hz is not better then 50Hz. Its just because the lights are flickering with that frequency and to filter the flicker out and make the tracking better you net to set it to the right setting. DONT just set it to 60Hz "because high numbers are good".
Favorite hack, putting the barrier around a bed and watching vr theater while laying down.
same
you can just disable the barrier
Whats vr theater? Is it just a video player?
@@valenesco45 yes
@@wyfyr6287 so you upload your videos or movies into the quest 2, and with this app you can watch them? I was quite confused because in the virtual interface there's no way to access your files.
Favorite life hack: instead of buying a carrying case, just carry in the box it came in😂
Laughingmyballsoff!!!
Big brain idea
Too late lol just got mine and bought the case with it
@@fizz_927 lol
Yeah it already sits perfectly in it so yes
Interesting tip, you can trigger passthrough by tapping on one side and then the other quickly. The two taps don't have to be on the same side. I actually find the passthrough is more responsive this way.
Thanks bro. I appreciate your efforts as a person that games and completely slept on VR but love CS an learning computer stuff. Awesome video ❤
My favorite "Hack" is under experimental features. Turn on raised seat view to play sitting down. I am in a wheelchair and must play everything seated. Most shooters required standing so I couldn't play at all, or I would be crouched in game. So, if you can't stand for long or prefer to sit, this is how to do so.
i'd assume this would be great for really short people playing standing up
@@sltrskid Bro...
I have knee problems, so I've been wondering how to play Beat Saber sitting down. I'll try it out, thank you! :D
IT WORKS, THANK YOU!
@@zeepbelletjes you're welcome
My life hack is to have a fan running, aiming at you while playing. Can help with motion sickness, and can allow you to know where you're facing, so you don't bang your wall while playing Gorilla Tag.
Happened to me 5 minutes ago
Smart
haha, just get used to the heat by putting over 400 hours into beat saber lol
It'll also keep you nice and cool. Especially if your room never gets cool in the summer.
@Neo's danger thats extremely extra and youll just look fuckin damn
#9 = SUPER USEFUL, thank you! Also, I appreciate the detailed reasoning behind turning it off.
When hand tracking is on, pressing the oculus button will bring up several options and you can turn on pass-through from there which is much quicker than opening the menu
A tip from me that a lot of people forget is cleaning the tracking cameras. So many people complain that their tracking has suddenly got worse when in reality it's just a fingerprint on a sensor that's caused it. A micro fibre cloth does the trick and the you're good to go
Good one
@@omgcyanide4642 I was just going to post that exact post... Thanks for saving me the effort..
! 😂😁😉
Dam!!! Great tip, I’m experiencing that as we speak, thanks brotha!!
@@warfarematador30 np lol
I do this and it’s worth the time and price of the cloth. Wonderful hack, Dragon.
*An amazing tip that wasn’t featured:* if you go into experimental settings you can add a separate guardian for your couch that fits the size of your entire couch and makes it easy to switch back-and-forth from seated to standing gameplay
Holy shit thank you!!
i did this when i played vr about 6 months ago (i played on my uncle’s headset thats why i haven’t played in so long :/)
You can do that for a desk too!
Been using that for a long time now, not sure why it is still in the "experimental" section, seems to work pretty well.
thats not a tip or a life hack: that just turning on a feature that is prominent in the settings🤭
My personal favorite lifehack was the taking screenshots, and I really liked the tracking refresh rate too
A couple tricks: put something down, like a shirt or a small rug to use as a proxy mat so you always know where you are. Pair that with a fan pointing in front of you, and you have less chances of hitting something . It also greatly helps with motion sickness. Also, pass through mode is a lifesaver.
I used that one, but gave up after it kept slipping
But it is worth it
So I live in California and the fan originally was to just help me not have a heat stroke. Lol. I found out quickly that it doubles as a location indicator while playing too.
@@cyx7784 I use my couch. I have it set up as the couch boundary, so I can still see it if I get close, and I know exactly where I am if I can feel the couch with my leg really quickly.
@@DriscolDevil clever. Now I just bang into my bed
Life hack: don't crash Job Simulator by infinitely summoning bread.
Lmao
I've done nothing but teleport bread for three days
Obviously, you need to crash it with infinite bananas
i broke it by spawning cups in overtime

Bro, thank you so much for the controller strap hack It’s really helpful!!
Thank you the awesome video I'm new to VR and the tips are very helpful. I have been definitely falling under the tip #10 group. Thank you again
The "double tap to see guardian" thing is the best
Makes me feel like im in star trek.
I accidentally do it so often
I accidentally do it in bso and it failse everytime
Nah that's the worst
Best hack: don’t actually jump when playing richies plank experience
I've just seen a kid wreck a visor this exact way on the subreddit lol
Like fallvof the plank? Or just jumping to fall
Why not??
@@wiseaardvark6425 because it's hard to predict where the real floor is and you'll either brake your knees or your quest 2
Life hack: make a fake Facebook account to use the quest2
Very useful and well explained, thanks!
Bro Ty for number 9 I had no idea how to show my friends stuff and I finally know
How to turn off the Guardian without a dev account: step 1: make the Guardian much bigger than the room step 2: profit
Like, walk around the outside of your house?
@@rainey_staerie_daize No, just trace way past your walls. You can do it standing in one place.
I will do this
this dosent work for room scale games
@@trashbeast Or just shake the controller around
Best life hack is actually getting a quest, not telling yourself your gonna get one for a year
I originally wasn't going to buy one but i can't get a ps5 and the quest 2 was in stock at my local Wal-Mart so here we are
...oops
Period, I’ve been telling myself ima get a vr for legit 4 years now… probably will never get one but a girl can dream 😂🤧
@@beepboop4177 iv waited years too and got a cheap dirty used one to try it out and its magical.
@@beepboop4177 lol same but i think ima just lease one for 3 months which isnt that expensive. So at least i got 3 months of vr experience i can enjoy for just about 80 bucks total.. Better than waiting another 2 years to maybe buy one haha
Love the video. Thank you for the tips.
Thanks, this video seems like it will help a lot. I hope to get one for myself one day. I like how you can readjust the strap on the controllers
My favorite feature is enabling the 90Hz refresh rate. Although the Quest 2 features a smooth 90Hz refresh rate, it ships programmed to 72Hz straight from the box.
Life hack: Put a fan somewhere pointing at you so it helps with motion sickness and have a sense of direction
Stolen lol
Does this actually work? I've just got my quest and free locomotion games fuck me up
@j0000shua where the hell did you hear that lmfaooo
@@deanroytruelove yes it does
@j0000shua okay. So if I breathe into my mic it will break. If its windy outside and I'm on my phone it will break. Either way the fan won't be entering the speaker or mix, it's supposed to be pointed at YOU.
Thank you as an older VR user. These are great and taught my adult kids some stuff. keep them coming.
Sister Locks
As an adult child, you'd be the coolest mom ever hitting me with this info
Im trying to get my adult daughter into vr she is used to flat gaming
Mommy!
Awesome info. Thanks so much.
Really useful life hacks!! Thanks for the tips.
Life hack: you can use chromecast to show the quest screen on your TV so others can watch.
I always play it like that
Oooooo
everyone knew that pretty sure
@@doyoulikeoculus1142 pretty sure most of these hacks are directed to new users
It won't let me chrome cast
For the life hack at 6:00 in the experimental settings you can actually now add a couch area into your room and by entering it the headset will automatically bring up a prompt to disable guardian and enter stationary mode.
Edit: this also doesn't require developer mode to be enabled
I done this added all my living room objects (tv, couch, table and units and found it useless if you set boundaries as they don't appear until you practically hit any of them, the wall barriers appear couple feet away but not the added objects
They removed it recently for some reason
Considering a Q2 and it was good seeing these tips and tricks before making my decision.
Love the tips keep it up
I'm so glad I'm not the only who maps out my hallway in my guardian.
Why do you do that?
@@rainey_staerie_daize to know where exactly they are at in the room
Favorite life-hack: If you go into settings and explore everything on it, you’ll notice some features like the “double-tap guardian” trick. Explore each game’s settings as well. My favorite one is to switch over movements from warping to walking. Didn’t know how many games let you actually do this. Setting adjustments in general are just phenomenal.
Very good video, good explanation and relevant tips. Keep it up
It's quite late, but I just subscribed. You're almost at the 40k mark!
My favorite “hack” is just using the battery extension pack. If you charge the vr through the battery pack, it charges up with 200% battery with 100 from each pack. The battery pack replaces the flimsy strap that comes with it by making the design where the pack is on the back of the head and uses a dial to tighten the sides. It keeps it in place but you have to remember the top strap still needs to hold as much weight as possible. As someone who could never play without adjusting those flimsy straps, the battery pack is a must.
Lol that's what I'm doing
I just bought one and this video was very helpful!
Your very good on explaining this I'm looking into getting one for my iracing game
Sharing videos with yourself via messenger: setup a messenger group with 2 other friends, then remove the friends from the group. This leaves you with a place you can share the videos from your Oculus that isn't public and you can download them to your phone, or any device
Thank you!
Ok that is brilliant! Did see the other day that you can send to messenger but never thought about sending it to a group with just me in it.
Bro thanks so much
uno you can just send to yourself minus the group right? just type your full name in

presentation very informative & proficient, your delivery was without even breathing,Amazing! Yeah👍Good Stuff, TY💕☮️🙏✌🏽
Omg thank you I didn’t think of looping the controller!!
My best tip: Do not try to place your controllers on a vr desk
I think one of the best life hacks that I use for when friends play my quest is when I’m in the oculus app watching them, in the little menu you can manually recenter them instead of having to teach them the bottoms and everything.
OH MY GOD WHAT
@@zach9999 yep. It’s so much easier.
I did not know that this is a Life saver for my dumb sister it’s so annoying when she can’t freaking do anything right it will be way easier for me to teach her
Damn I didn’t know about that! That helps me a lot as my sister slaps me if I don’t help well enough
@@OutcastYBJ take it easy. How much experience does she have? An hour? You have what… 30? It’s hard for someone to learn on the spot when you had probably a year to learn everything.
Thanks for the video man

Thank you for mentioning the hand size requirement, I have very large hands and you just saved me some time 👍
life hack is having a mat in the center of your play space, a real life saver
that wont help me my floor is carpet
@@darnedwaffles9251 Us a rug that got a different texture than the carpet, still works great
Also put a fan point at you on one side of the place space. That way you can tell not only where you are but what direction your facing as well
relatable... am using same thing whenever i play... i just take some random circle carpet and it works just fine even with carpets in the whole house...
I use a door mat but it’s rectangular so it kind of makes it annoying it’s also to small and a life hack I can give you is when you want to charge and play take a 25 ft or more extension cord plug it in and tie the other end around your waist plug in the charger to the cord then the headset and you can charge and play and not have to worry about ripping the plug out of the outlet
for the guardian thing, instead of turning it off using developer mode, I set it beyond my play area limits, and use a small circle mat to keep me safe from striking walls and furniture
😮😮😮😮 love all of your posts!!
Thanks man this helped alot
I found that using an office chair that spins works really well. I play Contractors. It's more comfortable sitting down, instead of kneeling to take cover. The chair help with quick head movements instead of using your controller. I had to use a hair tie as an extension for the controllers, my hands wont fit the other way. Nice video.
My personal favourite is placing a small elastic or loom band around the batteries before putting them into the controllers. It stops them from jumping around during particularly fast movements. Decreases on those random split second tracking issues you tend to see otherwise!
Hey. im new to this. i see that it is possible to change the resolution on the quest via the desktop app. so is there any need to change the resolution threw the sidequest program? or do i need both? D: im really confused. or is the res change in the oculus app + the debug tool enough?
I love your vids GetHip its helpfull sins i orderd an oculus quest 2 so now ill buy kiwi desighn straps and headstrap and kiwi desighn ear pods

9:35 Correction: you can get photos and videos from your quest to your phone using cloud services like google drive or even discord. Just go to those websites with the browser and upload them, then access them on your phone using the mobile app/website
That saved my life and old pc
Or, as a 'longer method' alternative, when access them from your computer have your phone connected to the PC as well and simply transfer the files from the headset to your phone.
Just plug in the charging cord to your quest and android phones usb-c charging port :/
thank you very helpful video
Nice! Thanks!
Really appreciate you taking the time to put this together. This was very informative. Liked and subscribed sir! Good job.
6:30 an alternative to disabling guardian now is the 'experimental' option of defining a desk or couch in or outside of the guardian area. When you then sit on the couch or at the desk it automatically asks if you want to switch to desk or couch mode.
Also you can just turn off your lights or cover up the sensors then guardian will turn off automatically
@@kylefranck then your controllers won’t track properly

Great video. Cheers!
Life hack strap for hand controls. In this post you show how to connect the controller strap around the top this is what I did but I used a shoe string just cut it longer than the controller strap and tie a not and push it into place. This is for larger hands it's work great.
if you ever get controller wobble (Where the battery shakes in the controller; mostly a problem on oculus quest 1) you can use tinfoil to tighten the battery in place while still allowing it to conduct electricity still. This can help improve tracking as well. Also quest controllers are supposed to use 1.5 v batteries instead of 1.2 v which are more commonly used. This also helps get just a little but better tracking.
When you export the recordings over to your pc, does it include microphone audio or is it just "in-quest" audio?
I like all of them thank you for telling us this
Best life hack is to put your couch in with experimental mode, so when you get tired you can pass out on it.
My favorite trick is the pass-trough mode where you can see you room through the VR headset I really hope I win it.
how do u do that?
It’s a home back ground or a thing in settings
Before I knew about the disabling guardian tip I use to just make my guardian way bigger than the room I was playing in, and just ignored the warning when it told me there was objects in my boundary
Hi, complete noobs to Quest, really enjoying your content l! Quick question, do you know why I can not see or find the share icon / button when wearing the headset? Thanks
I just learned my favorite quest hack:
In the air link/ link dash you can pin a monitor and it will stay in place in the PCVR game. I've added an extra display in my diamondback explorer in elite dangerous and have been mapping planets while streaming movies.
Tip: take care of the lenses and make sure there inline with your eyes
Tip 10 is why I came here and I was hoping I was doing it wrong lol. Thanks for that
Good stuff... I could really use one of those since the little plastic piece just busted....
My fav hack is definitely wearing a hoodie so my brain doesn't get engraved by the god awful strap

@@persephone9307 no i like it
Great video. I wanted to add that there is no need to turn off guardian if you just want to sit down and use the Oculus. It allows me to define a stationary boundary while still remembering the previous larger boundary. I can then move back and forth between the two situations without turning off guardian.
Yep, that's a great option. However you would still see the bleu circle on the ground, and the transition to passthrough when coming close to the edges. Disabling guardian totally remove all of those (at the cost of security, of course).
Didn’t know about a couple of these.
The screenshot shortcut is definitely gonna be used
question im trying to put my vr gameplay into obs so i can record it with my camera and etc. is there a way to do this properly? because i tried doing it thru the oculus cast site and the video and audio was not synced...video had no chance
I've had mine a week, really loving it, the standard headband takes a hell of a lot of work to find the perfect fit, on my mission looking for a aftermarket headband.
@@Callumxfisher well oculus sent me an email saying they had issues with the headband /facepart causing skin irritation, and sent me a brand new silicone part. Enjoy 👍
These hacks have definitely been very helpful! My husband and I are new to VR and this is all going to be useful. Thank you!
Changing background of it it is so cool
5:34 thank you so much I’ve been trying to change my thing to 60 Hz for gorilla tag but I never knew how so thank you
Thanks for the tips! I record video (and stop recording) by using voice activated command.
To start voice activation double click the oculus button. Then say 'start recording' or 'start video'
Then double click when you want to stop and say 'stop recording'. That saves you from going in and out of the menu.
*You'll have to turn on voice activation in settings--> Device --> In app voice commands, if you want this to work from inside an app.
There is also a setting in the experimental set to use 'Hey Facebook' to turn on the voice command activation.
Also to send video to my phone I send it in messenger to myself. Or a trusted friend. Then I can go to messenger in my phone and save it to my camera roll. :) Same goes with pictures I take in oculus.
Okay, so number 4 ( 4:02 ) It was literally the best one by far, that I hadn't known (I figured out a lot by messing around with it). I have to put three fingers under the strap and my pinky over the strap. I do also have semi long fingers, so I didn't have any issues reaching buttons. It doesn't provide an "OMG" grip, but, it is a nice cheat until you get the actual grip replacements.
Enabling PASSTHROUGH without taking off my headset was the ONE thing I wanted since I got this headset... thank you.
Thanks for the tips man, just got my headset a few weeks ago, at lest i can get rid of the red ring around my face

Best life hack is hitting the ceiling fan and cutting the tendons in your finger “vr echo”
When you wanna use stationary mode just made a huge guardian with roomscale so you dont have to worry about getting to close the the wall and ruin the immersion experience

ong, i have a small cluttered room and that box is perfect. oculus did well on the packaging 🙏
Best hack i found is in the experimental settings you can add a couch or desk to the vr space and it allows you to transition between two guardian zones without taking the headset off.
not a hack, just toggling an existing feature on. you can define different guardians throughout your house and as you pass out of one you enter passthrough. when you enter the next guardian, passthrough is disabled and you recenter to continue.
@@MrLichmeister most of this video is just toggling already existing features
