It will not run without that capacitor basically the computer recognizes somethings not right and shuts off the spark. My dad works for factory kawi I use to have a 13 Kx450f as well and I opened my own small shop. Let me know if you have any questions but definitely get that capacitor on it

Can't wait for the kx250 build...that's gonna be sick! Building an 02 cr250r right now, have an 07 yz450f as well that I recently finished working on so I have a similar stable and I can say that a 450 4t and 250 2t make a great combo.
I can't speak for everyone, however, I enjoy the build videos more than the riding videos for the most part. I'm especially pumped for this upcoming KX build!

from 2:41 to 3:36 thats how it is with hondas lol, my 2018 250R front end bolts right up to my 2000 125R , it changes the rake/trail by 1 degree. but it makes it turn way better to me
You are right, the radiators are lower on the newer kawis. Supposed to make them feel more roomy and thinner. Kinda like what ktm did

I have a 13 kx450 had a capacitor go out because my clip on the gas tank never got fully connected when I rebuilt the bike would not start my grandpa who owns the bike shop here in town was able to basically jumpstart the capacitor and make it have enough to start my bike he had to do some funky shit with the connections on the left side of the bike and then spliced them back together but it worked idk if this is any help
careful of the worn kick-starter it can gouge out the case .. happened on my kx 250 and started leaking around the seal

Did the bull shaft jump the Heffer gear?? Maybe change the power bands and the muffler bearings. Lol
Also when you were prime kicking it idk if that's the compression release or the timing is slightly off on the exhaust cam
I know this sounds stupid, but check your timing chain tensioner. I put my motor back together one time and it was doing that exact same thing. It would like fire then die every kick. Turned out my tensioner was like jammed wayyy to right and it was putting a ton of pressure on the timing chain, therefore it wasn’t rotating freely and it would kill the bike as soon as it tried firing. It seems to me if it was a capacitor it wouldn’t fire like it is for the first couple of rotations every kick, and if it did that should be enough to get the motor to start atleast.

I’ve have a 2012 KX450F I bought it new and I love it for many reasons but the biggest reason. No lie it has never taken more than 4 kicks to start. The other day it took for a spin under the power lines behind my house as I’ve done a thousand times before after about 35 minutes I stopped to grab something out of my camel pack 30 seconds later kicked it over rode about 300 yards to a spot where I ran into a buddy got off leaned the bike up against a tree talked with him maybe 20 mins. Got back on to continue my ride and the bike would not start. This has never happened before ever. Long story short 100 kicks and a three mile push home it been a week and still no start. Funny thing at the end of this video when he’s kicking the bike ( no capacitor ) that sound at the end of the kick is the same sound my bike is making now. At the end of the stroke sounds like a whoosh. Any chance my capacitor could have gone bad? Any help would be greatly appreciated

I had a KTM with an ims tank, and the vent 90 was ran through a bolt hole on the adapter.

Check the Carburetor the gas might not be going through the carb that’s why mine didn’t start cheap that out and clean it then try it

Check the TPI FEUL INJECTION SYSTEM
Check if the Voltage is correct to the manual or google it (dont know what you measure on )
Where did you get the side number plates or did you cut them out yourself
Hey evertime i rebuilt my kx 450 had to pop start it first to pull fuel in then it always starts** with the kicker
Flip the thing for the tank the other way so it wont loosen the bolt when the tank comes up.

I think somethings wrong with the 13 kawi’s Lmaoo I Grenaded my 13 kx250 and then got it fully rebuilt and put it back in then the stator went bad then the fuel pump then the top end all with in a month and a half

Use a scotchbrite pad and buff out all engine peices and it will make it look new

Is it accurate enough to measure your tolerances without even bolting the cam caps on?? If so I’ve been wasting a lot of time between taking them on and off changing out the shims trying to get the right tolerances 😂.

Slight differences but it's generally the same. If your talking 4 stroke bikes.
Yea 4 stroke bikes I built a 2006 yz250f last winter and traded it for 01 yz125 that runs like a top and a blown 07 yz450f might just be top end but going to split the cases anyway.
@@zacharypowell5574 tip for checking your crank shaft, when you get the cylinder off, remove the Piston and get the rod to the top of the stroke. Pull up and down on the rod vertically and parallel should feel no play. The rod can twist a little and have a little side play just none vertically. It takes alot to wear out or damage a crankshaft. It might save you some time and money.
