Hello, for anyone attempting to do this themselves I recently have done this and have a few modifications: 1. DO NOT connect one side of the winding to ground within the flywheel. Route both of these wires to the pink wires going through the rubber grommet and connect both of them to the AC inputs on your 4 wire voltage rectifier/regulator. Failure to do so may result in damage to other electrical components due to the stray AC voltage. 2. It is not necessary to remove the phillips head screws that hold the stator in. It is much easier to remove the two 8mm bolts that hold the plastic part of the stator in. I used a pair of needle nose pliers to help route the cable behind the metal part of the stator. 3. I was only able to get 60 turns with 18awg wire. 20awg would work just fine and allow for the increased voltage 65 or more turns would provide.
Thanks for the info, what color wire do you connect the ground to? Could you route the winding out of the stator housing and then ground it to the frame?
great video, much to complicated to attempt on my own xr80 but would be fantasist to have a light that runs with no battery, maybe i will try the project some day
Hello, help, the pink cables of my motorcycle do not pass current, it is an xr80r equal to yours, I do not know if the cables are disconnected or damaged

Both ends of my coil windings to the pink?
Did you is insulated wire?
