    Great video! I’m in the planning stage of a deck replacement & find Fortress FE 26 to be my metal railing. I’m thinking the Axis model which is supposed to be extremely strong. Like you my deck is elevated to approximately 10 ft. Wondering if you chose the 36” high or the 42”
    Thanks for taking the time to record this awesome video

      I have the 36. It's a great rail system. But it is pricey. Hope your project goes well!

    Regal Ideas deck railing makes for a far easier install. The brackets are welded to the posts leaving you to simply attach the railing. My deck is 36 by 16 ft, 8 1/2 ft above ground, with a 42 inch high railing. The shipping slip for the composite listed 3000 lbs of decking that had to go up on the deck, mid-summer. I feel your pain. My wife prefers your deck colour to our light grey. Well done.

      The Fortress AL13 Home also has the brackets attached to the post.

    Can you explain how you did the blocking again? Did you just stack 2x8s on top of each other and blocked them in with 2x10s?

    • @poodledad
      @poodledad  Před 2 měsíci

      I used 2x10's, one sits flat and then is blocked in on each side with another 2x10. Here's a short that shows one example: czcams.com/users/shorts9dvo4W7aPps?feature=share

    I'm going to eliminate my wood railing and install some very similar.
    However i'm keeping my wood posts and does that fencing company you're using have slip over covers for the posts.Thank for any help.
    Like the the black fencing look.

      Not sure if they have a post cap. You can check their website. Brand is "fortress". I imagine you could use the same brackets to attach the metal rails. I agree, it does look nice.

      We used a different system thats composite and a sleeve over wooden post. We went with a system that allows us to use the same Azek decking plank to sit on top of the entire rail. My wife wanted a large flat surface that not only matches the decking, but also gives us a place to place drinks and have a more comfortable armrest. I cant post links, but you can google "Drink Rail Pack for TimberTech Classic Composite Railing"

    Where did you buy the fencing? I found it on HD and prices not like on you slip/cheatsheet! Much higher!😮

      The railing? Local building supply company. You can go to fortress website and find a dealer. Not sure about HD pricing.

      The metal rails do flex slightly. That's the 6 ft length. Imagine how much flex you would see in the 10 foot. I would guess the 10 footers are for decks much closer to the ground.

      I just completed a DIY project using the Aria railing from Home Depot which looks very similar to this. It was a big learning curve and I had to go slow, but I was really happy with the results.
