  • Video showing my installation of a straight hand rail section using TRX vinyl railing from a company called Polyrail. Hopefully my experience will help someone doing something similar. This is my first video attempt, so sorry if I left info out. Give me a like or subscribe if this is helpful and you want more videos!!

    Great video and drawings! This just made my project easier having all the proper dimensions to meet code for a new vinyl railing install. I have a concrete porch and poured two 5 1/2 X 15 inch steps over the original single step. After sixty years the original steps sunk leaving the top step over 9 inches!

    Despite what some have commented, I like that you don't ASSume anything and you measure and level the top and bottom rails and clamp it off to be certain. While I'm installing AZEK railing, which is more pre-built, these are some good tips. I'd like to see how you measured and installed the stair railing, as that is a bit more challenging. Thanks!

    This came out looking great. I’m almost done mine and it is identical. Similar size and same material as colors. Wish you would of showed how you did the trim as that looks great too and I might try that. Also wonder how much this cost you a year ago. With lumber prices I’m up to about $850 or so.

    • @swilliams5
      @swilliams5 Před 3 lety

      @@coutes12 I was wondering the exact same thing. Is all the trim Azek? It looks like the structure is pressure treated and then the “stringer” on the side is also Azek and just cosmetic? Same with the risers? The look is pretty much exactly what I wanted and I also want to use Azek but I couldn’t picture it all in my mind until I saw yours.

    • @coutes12
      @coutes12  Před 3 lety +1

      Yes that’s exactly right, full structure is pt and then I just trimmed it out with all azek (stringer, skirt, vertical boards, etc). I used the little screw/plug combos to fill the holes.

      I’ll take a look and see if I still have the draftsight file. The software was free at the time I made this video but is not any longer as far as I know. May be able to do a free trial though. If I can access it I’ll send it over.

      So I was able to locate the file I had saved. The problem is I can’t edit or clean it up for you because draftsight is no longer free. I used autodesk trueview to open the file. It will let you take measurements off my drawings. Let me know if you’re still interested and I can send it to you.

    • @coutes12
      @coutes12  Před 3 lety +1

      The posts run all the way to the ground. Framing is attached to it. Trex is cut to fit around the post and then the vinyl railing is just a sleeve that sits over the trex.
