For reasons I won't pretend to understand, we've had an export error where it's overlayed Sterling's card twice over Eze's?? If you're watching this Eberechi we wholeheartedly apologise. You lot can make your own joke about us all wishing we could double our Sterling 💰💰etc etc
The Ox/Gibbs debacle comes to mind 😅
The only problem with Gallagher is that he sometimes has the ball
Haha, good one
Adam Clery from FourFourTwo has mastered the art of having me hooked from the first to the last second of a video
Surely he takes only one of Henderson/ Gallagher and takes Maddison
I agree, only thing is Phil can fill in (excuse the pun) as a backup 10 to Bellingham if he gets injured
@@KhariDouglas phil is more of a 10 than a winger anyway
@@KhariDouglas Ruben Loftus-Cheek is the perfect backup for Bellingham, but he plays in Italy so he’ll get ignored like Tomori
england dont need maddison though we are jumping to conlusions different players fit different scenarios like maddison is a good player but he could be playing bad then whats out backup then we have wasted experience in henderson who could control the midfield
Gordon over Rashford, or Watkins over Rashford.
My read of the two friendlies was that both Bowen and Gordon retired Rashford for now. It was really nice seeing wingers who can work hard AND impact the game in the final 3rd.
The argument for Rashford though is he offers something different with his pace to get in behind
@@frazzledazzle89 and Watkins and Gordon don’t?
I think I saw Gordon beat more players 1-1 against Brazil than Rashford has in his entire career… and yet he’s also one of the best players in the league with space in front of him (at the moment).
Thought the same. May well be another ‘see how they do for the run-in’ and decide from there
@@frazzledazzle89Gordon is really fast too. I think he should go instead
@@edmanning274 Rashford is faster when opponents play a high line, even though I wouldn't play Foden there he can do everything Gordon can.
I think Southgate will take Rashford over Gordon for those reasons.
Me personally I'd take Gordon
you included Sterling twice in that last 6 lol
hopefully UEFA will agree to increase the squads to 26 next month, then maybe we can afford to take more than two strikers.
That only benefits squads like France, Germany, England, Portugal or Spain (the favorites), so it’s more fair to do a 23-man list for the smaller countries
We don't even need more than 2 strikers tbf. People only want it because they think Watkins "deserves to go" but Toney seems the best backup to Kane.
In terms of practical use of the 3 additional players, we'd be better off taking an additional midfielder and 2 more wingers.
Gives you more options. If Rashford isn't it off the bench in the first game, you aren't stuck with him as your impact sub because you have Gordan aswell. Likewise if Saka is having a stinker, you have a like for like replacement I'm Bowen but then a completely different kind of right winger in Palmer.
Midfield allows you to take Hemderson as a "leader" without sacrificing players like Gallagher and Maddison who are actually useful on the pitch.
What's the point in taking Watkins and Toney when Kane starts every game, one of them is a backup and the other literally has no chance of playing unless Kane gets injured.
That's a whole lot of Sterling at 12.00. Kerching.
This was great, I just hope he takes Gordon instead of Rashford
I hope it too, just like I hope you take Maguire instead of Tomori. It’ll be easier to defeat England if they don’t bring their best players
I believe the point that’s been ignored is:- who are England’s opponents in the first round of the European Championships (Denmark, Slovenia and Serbia) and how would you want to play to win those 3 games? Because without at least 2 wins from those 3 games the tournament will become difficult as the 2nd in England’s group would probably play Germany in the next round. I wouldn’t take Henderson and I’d take both Toney (bash serbia) and Watkins (more technical) because with Kane being injured there’s no guarantee that he can last a whole tournament. Imagine having to rely on, say Toney, in a semi-final or final and only having one way of playing. Kane is the only one who can play like both Toney and Watkins, and therefore the two of them could replace Kane on a game-by-game basis.
England's weakness is defense... I feel Southgate should try and mend things with the likes of Tomori and White. The likes of Tripper and Walker aren't getting younger, John Stones is injury prone and Trent seems to have injury issues as well this year... if we lose them without adequate replacements it is going to be a bad campaign.
Interestingly, though he’s almost certainly good enough, white doesn’t want to play for England. I’m not sure of his reasons
probably worth keeping an eye on is that national managers are apparently lobbying UEFA to increase the squad size to 26 again.
I can see him taking Bowen & Gordon with Rashford missing out, especially if Rashford's form doesn't improve
We already know what to expect from Rashford. Not expecting much more.
He won't drop Rashford, only if he's injured or has a severe drop off in even worse form
Also Rashford and Gordon are very similar players, both insanely quick accelerating players off the left.. can't see him bringing both honestly
Rashford can play as a striker and scored 30 GOALS last season. The disrespect he gets its insane.
I'm a united fan & big Rashford fan, but Bowen & Gordon's numbers are way ahead of him this season in arguably worse teams.. his experience will defoncount for something, but feel he needs a decent end to the season. Also Bowen can play up top aswell if needed
Surely Gordon has to go. He can play through the middle if needed as well. I’d take Bowen instead of Rashford who’s been pants this season and was embarrassing when he came on against Brazil.
Rashford is one of the best players in the league and one of the best forwards in the world. He’s a winner too and just last season he scored more than 30 goals across all competitions. Excuse me but what has Gordon done to be named ahead of him? It’s like if I as Spanish said Sancet should be playing instead of Pedri, because he’s more in-form this particular season. You just don’t exclude your best players because they are passing through a tough phase… make it make sense
I think with Gomez and Trippier both being able to play LB you only take one of Shaw / Chilwell depending on who proves fitness. Then you bring a Palmer / Jones / Maddison.
That's logical but we all Know Southgate is loyal to out of form players who served him well previously
Yeah. Konsa + Gomez for me means only taking three of Walker/Trippier/Shaw/Chilwell (probably Chilly missing out) and allowing another slot for an attacker
Again, thank you for the Always Sunny intro. I knew it was a good idea. You can reach out to my agent for our royalties agreement.
442 is Adam Clery’s best work. Love this channel now.
I would trust England in the hands of the 442 staff more than i would Southgate and his mates
"southgate and his mates" you mean the England coaching team?
What England manager has achieved more than Southgate has (besides Sir Alf?) We have had great players in the past and achieved less. Be careful what you wish for.
southgate has been better than any 442 type of england manager.Southgate deliver england fan the feeling of almost winning in some tourament like world cup or euro unlike other old 442 manager
Judging by this video I’m guessing SouthGate is a whole lot smarter than a standard Four Four Two 😉
@@AhihiHello he meant 442 as in the name of the channel/magazine my guy lmaooo
I'm looking forward to looking back at this when the squads announced. I think you are probably spot on. Do I think some of those should go? Hell no, but you're right, Gareth will pick them.
The most tragic of them is definitely Rashford. He turns up once every 6 games, doesn't engage in 50/50s, doesn't really defend, and is indecisive in the final third. Excepting his pace and a very occasional long shot, the guy is just not that good. Trashford is still riding on the coattails of his "potential".
Alternative Universe XI, playing 3-2-4-1: Butland - Gomez - Tomori - Colwill - Garner - Barkley - Palmer - Elliott - Eze - Sancho - Solanke
seems crazy to suggest that midfield selection imo. we need at least one more attack minded midfielder if bellingham gos forbid is injured, maddison has to go.
Foden can play there
Hope you make a vid on who you would take. Be interesting
I think he’ll take hendo too but curtis jones should go ahead of hendo and gallager imo
06:30 YES thank you so much for this its my biggest pet hate when people say that. Like its a certificate for doing really well at your club as if youre in year 2, rather than being about whose most likely to win games of football
They were saying that the Brazil team were too young and inexperienced, but it was obviously not the case.
Maybe it's Southgate who is too stuck in his ways ??
I think the only player with a chance of being included that you missed is Eric Dier. I mean I understand that he's not first choice but he's more experienced (both club and national level) than most of the other options and he's starting reguarly now in Bayern so I do believe that Gareth Southgate will consider him
Henderson going to be picked somehow
And Philips
And Maguire
And Pickford
Obviously pickford is going to be selected who else would you take lol
Also phillips wasn't even in this squad so I don't see why he would be includes
The way I see that squad, there's just too many defenders. Sure Alexander-Arnold is more likely to feature as a midfielder, but he could be extra cover for Walker and Trippier - I don't think Konsa is needed for that. Given that Walker could provide cover at right centre-back, and Gomez covers everywhere, I think there's enough defensive back-up options. The other problem with this squad, is that there's no obvious cover for Bellingham. I get that this is "Southgate's Squad" and so Henderson is a very likely pick, but him, Rice, Alexander-Arnold, Mainoo, & Gallagher, is 5 players to cover the two roles behind Bellingham, leaving nobody as a direct replacement at No 10. Personally, I think that if Konsa were left out of the defensive block, that'd make space for Maddison, and everything would be dandy.
Foden is able to play the 10 role well enough to be a good backup
Maddison has to go instead of Gallagher or Henderson
@@4231jerome True, but then it'd be nice to have extra cover for his wide position - I think that's more my general gist, good to have one more players as cover for attacking roles rather than the number of defenders suggested in the video.
@@julzyboy1973 Personally, I'd like to see 4 options brought along for the two positions behind Bellingham. I'd rather prioritse Maddison over Konsa or, just to throw it out there, Morgan Gibbs-White. As a Forest fan, I'm biased, but Gibbs-White is on better form than Maddison at the moment and while there's not many people talking about his chances of inclusion, I think he should be in the conversation.
Pickford, Walker, Konsa, Stones, Shaw Mainoo, Bellingham, Rice Foden, Kane, Saka
I dont see a world where Guehi doesn't go. Hes been the established back up CB for a while now. As you said hes injured, but i can see him getting his fitness back in time for the euros
2 Sterlings??!??
Two Sterlings Adam? Two? That's insane.
Leadership is so important for tournaments, on and off the field. Henderson will go if fit.
Great vid but… you talked about Nketiah and Wilson over SOLANKE
pickford - Shaw Maguire Stones Walker - Rice Trent - Jude - Gordon Kane Saka
Incredible how Loftus-Cheek wasn’t even included in the discussion for midfielders. He’s having his best season at Milan and playing regularly european football unlike Gallagher, Henderson or Mainoo. He’s a goal threat too, so can be the perfect back up for Bellingham if at some point he needs to rest
Not taking Maddison would be an error.
Think youre probably spot on. Some tight calls. Gallagher AND Henderson seems overkill, but can see it happening. Gordon is in better form than Rashford, but Rashford probably goes.
However, call me a pessimist, call me a traditionalist, but I dont see all 23 of these players escaping injury. At least one will come a cropper Im convinced. My guess would be one of the left backs not making it. And actually it could be a blessing. With possible cover from Trippier and Gomez (and Trent of course being a possibility at RB), I think there's maybe just enough insurance. Which could open the door for one of Maddison or Gordon to squeeze in.
I know it's not really your cup of tea, but I would love if you would do one of these for all the Euros national teams.
they'd probably like to if they had the time. maybe just France, Spain, Italy and one other.
Spain and Italy. Not Portugal....... You need an update mate
The 3 contenders as I see it are these 3: Eng, Fra and Por. Italy, Germany, Spain and Belgium would be the second line. And watch out for Austria, they'll be the underdogs
Also this video makes sense because of the depth that the team has. And definitely the 3 mention are the most charged with talent in every position
Jones is going to be part of the Liverpool squad for this Thursday, if he stays fit and plays well then he has to go to the euros.
Might be worth checking how many Sterlings you have...
I'm a big fan of Southgate, hope he stays in the job for years to come. No other man to handle this golden generation of talent.
Said a Irish bloke. 🤣
@@izzy__uk3856exactly!
Bowen over Col Palmer ? Col Palmer might even turn out to be a better option than Phil Foden at this level purely because he has a physical advantage. Foden was a passenger in these last 2 games.
completely agree. he’s useless for england. I honestly think he could be left out completely in favour of cole palmer and we’d see better results
Nah foden in the second half against Belgium was causing them all sorts of issues when he came more centrally
@@DeadlyV1RU5 how do you know cole palmer would have a better game? the same thing could happen to him as happened to foden, ie club form doesnt translate to international
@@timothyleake418 well palmer has only played about 30 mins for england against malta but he looked lively and dangerous, and that was out of position on the left. foden has had three years and two tournaments to step up for england and he’s done nothing. palmer also performs for his club while surrounded by worse players than foden, which usually translates to better international performances. foden seems to only perform in city’s system and squad. palmer will outshine him for england when he starts getting the same minutes, I’m sure of it.
@@DeadlyV1RU5 Reasonable points but doing well against malta doesnt mean he will do well against countries like belgium. plus Foden did well in the last game. its a shame palmer was injured in this camp. its probably too early for him this euros but next tournament he'll go
Sterling so desperate to get in the side he included himself twice.
There's rumours that there will be a rethink over squad size and it may go back to 26
Maddison has to go. Rashford can play as a striker and scored 30 GOALS last season. The disrespect he gets its insane.
But this is not last season my man
Copying and pasting the same comment out of desperation for Rashford to go despite him being awful both on the ball and out of possession this season.

Rashford coz he plays well for England
Ik Gordon and palmer are better than rashford but that doesn't mean you just take out a man who fits your system well
If Shaw is fit, he goes. I think Pope does too. He would be mad not to take Mainoo. I think the same applies to Palmer. If you want an extra wide forward, drop Rashford.
Geez Eze sure changed a lot since I last saw his face and the spelling of his name
I was expecting a tactical analysis of the Belgium vs England. Why did Tielemans have so much space to score the 2 goals? Who was supposed to track him?
@fourfourtwo what 23 would *you* take?
After the international break we’ve just had I’d be gutted to say Maddison miss out for Gallagher. Thought he looked class when he came on against Belgium and that equalising goal doesn’t happen without his creativity

----Bellingham
--Rice----Trent
-----Stones

i think your right with 22/23. The one change... i think Southgate will drop Gallagher for Maddison.
you've counted 3 for the left midfield spot and only bellingham for the 10, or in case of foden covering that then just one across left wing and the 10. i thus think its much more likely that gallagher gets the axe because his audition didnt win him hendersons spot, and that maddison as the 2nd 10 gets in
and since both stones and gomez can do a shift in the middle i think the selection would rather utilize the full range of attacking depth rather than a third choice pivot player

How about Harvey Elliott? He's having a great season for Liverpool and is very impactful coming off the bench. I would include him over Gallagher.
This Elliott hype is a myth. He's started 7 league games for Liverpool this season and he's a profile we don't need.
I would rather have maddison coming on than elliot
Yeah as a Liverpool fan Eliott is up against Palmer, Jude, Maddison, Foden etc. He's too attacking and lacks the physicality to play as a hard working number 8. He's class, but I don't see him getting in yet
I don't think England is making it pass the Quarterfinals...they're finishing second in their group. 🔥
I think its perfectly conceivable that we go out in the quarters although I think we'll get to the final personally. But if we dont win that group I will eat my hat - who comes top? wont be close

Could bring in Gordon for Gallagher and pull Foden central if you want more pace. Too much expectation management on this channel!!
With the depth of talent available it seems criminal to take players who have being solidly out of form and fitness the entire year or more. Like McGuire, shaw, Henderson and chillwell. Form in previous tournaments means nothing. We need players who can do the business right now, not two or three years ago.
As a Chelsea fan, it is fun to see Gallagher in and Palmer out
madisson was rolled out furiously
Rice Henderson Mainoo (Trent/Bellingham) for 2/3 of midfield. No point of bringing Galladog AND Horrendouson
I think Konsa and Mainoo have made it clear they should. LB is a massive problem, with Shaw made of glass and Chilwell playing awful. I wasn't impressed by Gordon, whilst he's amazing for Newcastle, he was left unmarked by Brazil and when he came on against Belgium and was pretty ineffective despite being given loads of time and space.
No chance Rashford or Henderson should or could be anywhere near this squad, even in Southgate’s eyes.
Cole Palmer & Anthony Gordon are essentials.
members of the squad, including Bellingham, have said how useful it is to have someone with his experience around the camp and helping them to deal with the pressures of the camp

I would take Raheem Sterling’s twin brother, what a fantastic player.
Predicting the squad with 2 months of the season to go when anything can happen even to those shoe ins.
Can we all agree that players who are not match fit should not go.?That means the likes of Shaw, Reece James. We should learn the lessons of Beckham going in 2002 and Rooney in 2006 when both were not match fit after injury. No player is worth the impact on the team.
So, if Southgate doesn’t learn from the mistakes of the past - ie takes Shaw who will inevitably break down in one of the matches. He will only have himself to blame.
Didn't he take Shaw to the last Euro's even though he wouldn't make the first couple of games?
IMO I don’t think he should take players who have not played enough. They won’t be match fit and Shaw has broken down already from the same injury and unlikely to play for Man U before the end of the season.
Gareth Southgate coaching this England team is like Tony Pulis coaching... this England team. England with Guardiola or Klopp would crumple Mbappe and his France mates and put them in his pocket, think Germany Brazil in Brazil that one time Germany went to a world cup in Brazil and made Brazil look like... hmm... you know.
The one person I will not take to the euros if I was in charge is Gareth Southgate
Take 2 keepers - open up a spot
i think it might be within the rules to have 3
Maddison keeps getting called up in the international breaks i dont see him being dropped
I'd only take 2 keepers. Free up another spot for an outfield player
this isn‘t Fifa mate. 3 Keepers are mandatory. besides, what if one of your two gets injured? risk it with no keeper on the bench?
What about solanke?
Looks like Henderson is keeping Curtis Jones out of the squad in terms of what they bring.
Chelsea players shouldn't be allowed anywhere near the england team at the minute
apart from Palmer who seems to be in a different universe to the others
henderson out for palmer and konza out for guehi and chilwell out for trippier then you got it
why take 3 keepers, sacrifice one for another centre forward, and drop Rashford for Gordon, Rashford isn't enjoying the game at the moment so let him have a summer off and see if he comes back or carries on fading away and moves on to doing something other than football, like politics
I think they have to take 3 keepers
