    I was in a terrible marriage for many years and I knew it. I knew it was bad, but would not let myself leave. Fortunately, I got sent off for work for 2 years and had to be alone in an apartment 4 hours from my house. I could not figure out the first night what was wrong/right. It was a feeling of peace unlike anything I have ever experienced. That led me finally to asking for a divorce. Growth can come in many ways. Outside forces, such as family and societal expectations can contribute to stifled growth. I wish I had known then what I know now. I could have had happiness much sooner in life. Glad I made it out, not all do.

    Music is such a good way to reflect and verbalize or symbolize deep wounds we may have! I know my relationship with my parents is something I'll never be able to "Heal" from, or I don't see a way, but growth can still come from it, insight and wisdom can still be gained from the all of my experiences with them, good bad or neutral. It's kind of like how if your body experiences pain, physical pain, you know something is wrong or needs some attention at least. Learning to apply that same idea to emotional pain or mental pain (or suffering) is also vital, even if it can be a very complex and time consuming process.

  • @TaraRyze

    Damn you really nailed that analysis! Something really interesting about this song as well…it’s about a car crash, whether it’s literal, metaphorical, or both, we may never know…(and ironic because this is my FAV song to jam to in the car! 😂) when it gets really quiet you can ever so slightly hear a mumbling sound that kind of sounds like people arguing, and then the “screeching” sound, which would be the car breaks, and then the crash, when the breakdown hits! I always thought that was so brilliant! 🙌🏻

    • @helldude35
      @helldude35 Před 7 měsíci +7

      I believe the synth at the beginning and immediately after the breakdown to be an interpretation of emergency sirens in addition to the car crash

    I really like this format. As a person with a lot of empathy, I've been a huge mental health advocate. The one line that sticks with me every time I listen to this song is "You only drink the water when you think it's holy". It's such a good line, and Vessel just drops it so nonchalantly.

    My wife has now started watching your videos. I have been a long time rock and Metal guy because I like the aggressive portray of emotion. That is simply what metal is to a t. My wife understands poetry because she has written for over 30 years. She is published in a lot of different areas. She likes the fact that you can fit the lyrics of what is written and then feel the emotion with the music that the band is playing. I think that is something personally that is missing in most modern music if you turn on the radio. It's never going to be popular here because they push a certain Narrative of self-destruction. Keep doing what you doing young lady you will get everything you need out of a channel like this. And you may and I mean just me learn something about yourself and others just because of the music that someone puts out that actually has emotion hooked to a rhythm

    Another insane lyric combo is "Granite in my chest, sulfur on your breath."
    Sulfur slowly breaks down granite, causing cracks and breaking it down over time.
    Vessel has granite, a VERY hard and resilient material in his chest (his heart) and the sulfur on this other person's breath is slowly breaking down and cracking granite (his heart.)
    It's chemistry explaining the slow burn of a hardened heart being slowly dissolved by the "sulfur" on your partners breath.

      From eagertuna0: @skarlottt Hi there,
      Thank you for sharing with us. It sounds incredibly frustrating and upsetting to be in a workplace where you feel stuck and aren't enjoying the role. It also sounds like you've had some negative experience with recent relationships and being put down by those around you, and that's such a serious challenge.
      With that said, it's wonderful to hear that you still recognize your amazing values, and you can either find someone who values you or continue to be content without relationships that make you feel lesser.
      Wishing you all the best,
      Tuna

    • @HeartSupport
      @HeartSupport  Před 6 měsíci +1

      From Micro: @skarlottt Man, it must be such a rough season of your life to walk through - I'm sorry you've been dealing with so much frustration and overall feeling of injustice. It's so hard to show up everyday and deal with a job that doesn't fulfill you - even more that makes you feel little in your actions and existence. We wish for work to be something that elevates us, not the opposite.
      There is no doubt that the job you're in is highly frustrating and feels like a complete ignorance of your worth. You do what you have to, you contribute and are a part of something, you literally *do your part* as you are expected, but at the same time it feels like you are completely invisible and not valued as you should. It is as if the world was pushing a force against you over and over while you *are* doing the right thing and what is expected of you. How could you be wrong? Why wouldn't there be more recognition, kindness and compassion as a result? Why does it have to be *you* that makes the efforts without seeing the fruit of it? It's almost as if you were not even seen as a **person* anymore, while inside you FEEL this fire, this spark of light that ignites your soul. You know your value, you know the good you can bring around you, yet you are faced with a lack of reception *from* the world you are serving.
      It's such a hard place to be in, and I hope that you will have the possibility over time to embrace all that makes you... you, and all the beautiful qualities that you have and crave to be embraced as such.
      For what it's worth from a stranger on the internet: I see you, I hear you, and I wholeheartedly recognize your value and worth because you *are*. How you feel and think matters. Your voice is important to share. Thank you for doing so here and allowing us to see beyond appearances. Your job does not define you, and you are right by acknowledging the goodness in you. :heart:

    I'm a simple man. I see people geeking out about Sleep Token lyrics, I like.
    Also this band and this album specifically have been such a source of healing and strength for me as I'm currently going through the ending of my marriage. It's a bad thing that's ultimately for the best, and man the lyrics on every song of this album just perfectly express the whole rollercoaster of emotions that comes with the end of an unhealthy relationship. • @HeartSupport
      @HeartSupport  Před 6 měsíci

      From NateTriesAgain: @seantodd7858 Dude isn't it crazy that pain can haunt us? That there are some parts of our past that are just fucking gnarly. It's like a ghost we can't shake, like a shackle we can't break out of. Even when we've passed so much time, so many miles, we're not the same person we were. It's so brutal that our past is...IN us.
      I'm sorry about that friend. I know what it's like to hope for change for a decade and it still not come. To earnestly seek healing and it not come. There's a unique low you get when you just. can't. get. a. break through.
      But I also think there's a unique beauty that comes with long pain. There's something that breaks in us about the idea of perfection in life, perfection in ourselves, and it forces us to look at the beauty in the "in between". The beauty in surviving. In strength. In courage to try again. In vulnerability to be broken and still accept ourselves. In the connection we find in our brokenness to others.
      There is beauty in your story.

    • @HeartSupport
      @HeartSupport  Před 6 měsíci

      From Micro: @seantodd7858 It sounds like the relationship you mentioned here was so very significant for you and there is no doubt that its impact keeps being present in its own ways. Through these two years with this person, you must have created some maningful memories, shared sparks of life that were ingniting life within. Losing this relationship, this person, and everything that it represented must have been heartbreaking. And even though it stops, the heads keeps thinking about it, the memories keep being present, the heart still love sometimes too.
      It's hard when it feels like you *know* something happened but just doesn't follow with the course of event. It's almost as if it needs an update somehow, like different parts of you were stuck in different timelines. And you see it all from within, you experience it as a whole. Ten years have passed and you know it, still sometimes it must feel like it all took place yesterday.
      Personally, this experience you describe is something very relatable to me, with a different story and circumstances of course. Somehow, it always amazes me *and* scares me to witness how my heart can feel things as if it was happening all over again. To notice that pain, nostalgia, longing are those intense sensations that live on a continuum. It's hard sometimes to accept it, to not feel like you'd be crazy, that somehow you "should be over it". Although there is no timeline to healing, and when the pain feels vivid again, it can be seen as an invitation to take care of yourself, of your heart, of your soul. To be gentle, patient, and to listen to what's inside of you.
      I hope that, little by little, you will find your own sense of peace, maybe closure - however that can look like for you -, and that you know overall that how you feel makes sense. It's okay to feel that way. It's okay to ackonwledge wounds that we keep carrying. We can only to be more kind to ourselves in response to it. :heart:
      Thank you so much for sharing how you relate to this song. Even though we talk and share about pain, it's beautiful to see how much music can echo parts of your own heart and soul. It brings a strange, comforting validation somehow - that you are not crazy for feeling that way. That your emotions and personal journey are always a profound expression of your own humanity.

    Yeah this song speaks directly to me. It takes me right back, almost like a time machine, to a time when my ex wife had changed into this person that wasn't who I met after a couple of years into the marriage. I didn't want to see the writing on the wall though; there were kids involved. I didn't want them to go through what I did when my parents divorced, but it didn't matter what I wanted. I know I'm better off without her, but she only "drinks the water when she thinks its holy" and to this very day, she'd have you believe I was responsible for all the problems; even the ones that happened YEARS after I was on my own.

    This song is interesting because it is from a male perspective. Women the vast majority of the time end relationships. This song is about someone who could have put meaningful effort into the relationship but didn't care enough to do so. This song is about being a man in a place where men are treated as disposable caretakers.

    If you're looking for some more "mellow" rock/hard rock, I suggest Times of Grace. It's a side band of Adam and Jesse (singer and guitarist/backup singer) of the metalcore band Killswitch Engage (who I also suggest whole heartily). But this side product is not as heavy as Killswitch Engage (especially their 2nd album). If you do, I suggest "Mend You", "To Carry the Weight", or the heavier songs "Hope Remains" or "Live In Love". But anything from their 1st album, is amazing.

    Because I might be slightly sadistic and for the schadenfreude I'd love to see your analysis of either or both: Marilyn Manson - Irresponsible Hate Anthem (czcams.com/video/RXZumpbHOVA/video.html), and Immortal Technique - Dance with the Devil (czcams.com/video/qggxTtnKTMo/video.html)
    Also worth noting that both these artists have a lot of other great pieces, but these are fun intros for the shock value.

    i do love your interpretation. PLEASEEEE READ!!!
    Sulfer stinks. So does alcohol on somone's breath. Granite in their chest - they knowww they should not allow their partner to drive intoxicated... they feel heavy about it...... it is a heavy decision... Never want to talk about how their drinking & partying is affecting them. Sang twice bc the substance abuse is something they have just always ignored........ At this point the fury they have for their partner's drinking is a little too late to mention, because the one drinking is drunk, so there is no more reasoning with them at this point.
    The song paints a picture that you seem to have not heard, though.
    The song is putting you in the shoes of someone with their significant other / date / loved one (i will say partner from here on).... after partying or perhaps JUST their significant other is drinking & they have drank a lot & driving drunk home... and the point of view of the person riding home with their intoxicated partner. If their partner had a problem with substance / alcohol abuse - they should have told them. Their partner here is aggressive and controlling when intoxicated. They are controlling in their relationship, maybe... probably in general. BUT. The "singer" would rather risk riding with their partner intoxicated than be without them....they'd rather die riding with them than be left there alone without them. They are going half blind bc they are intoxicated.... The second hand smoking - bc the "singer's" partner has with their partner has been by their side all night regardless.... while they're smoking...... which may be annoying... they have been partying / drinking... and smoking... carelessly. Glass on the street... they left the party drunk - wanting to drive home - left the glass on the street before getting into the driver seat, so to speak. They plan to drive drunk. "KEEP YOUR EYES ON THE ROAD OR WE'LL BOTH BE HERE FOREVER" (sang hauntingly) meaning they need to their partner to focus while driving to keep them both alive, otherwise they both will die on this road, they we will leave their souls there - "we will both be here forever". "Only drink the water when you think it's 'Holy'" this is alluding to alcohol & how they wanna be drunk, so they consume much of it. They are more than just somebody in their passenger seat, because they are in a relationship of some sort. They are driving intoxicated risking the life of someone they love... & if they crash and die - then it was destined. But, it is more than this....
    When they brought their loved one / partner to this party / bar - it's as if they brought them there to have them above them. Like believing they (the singer) are the responsible one - they will take care of the one drunk, making them beneath the singer. They are drunk, so talking crazy, which IYKYK - alcoholics often threaten to end their own lives, quick to threaten it. The intoxicated one expects the other to take care of them.
    It is most certainly a double entendre.

    I never cheated my girlfriend. So i cheated myself cause i thought she shouldn't be with someone like me. My self hate destroyed me so much. And even though im better the voice of self hate finds its way to sneak in.

      From twixremix: @xambrehgm thank you for opening up about the self-hate you experience. that’s such a difficult feeling to endure and the voices are far from silent when it comes to weighing us further down. i’m sorry you’re going through this and how it’s affected your relationships. i’m glad you’ve noticed yourself get better from all of this; your continued growth and healing is the goal! wishing you all the best as you continue to silence that voice of self-hate by repeating truths of your infinite value and worth.
      love,

      From sravyasridhar: @xambrehgm Hi friend,
      I think that embarking on a journey of self-love and truly finding yourself may be beneficial before getting into a relationship. Learning how to believe in yourself and be confident with what you bring to the table will greatly help in future relationships. I'm proud of you for getting better and working towards self-love. The journey is definitely not easy. But I believe in you, and I believe you can get to that point very soon. Best of luck on your journey.

      From Jearls: @xambrehgm Hi friend. Im sorry to hear about the situation with your previous relationship. It takes courage to open up. I want to commend you for making progress. Starting can often be the hardest part. People always speak about a negative snowball effect that can happen when someones life goes wrong. People rarely mention the positive snowball effect that exists when people start improving themselves. Stay on the same path you're on now and I hope you start experiencing that positive snowball effect soon. Sending love.

      From Malig3: @xambrehgm Hi there,
      Thank you for sharing and being vulnerable with us. As the saying goes, "we are our own biggest critic.". We pick ourselves apart, criticize anything possible, and find it hard to believe when good things happen to us. This is a universal feeling many can relate to. It's not easy to have a negative voice in the back of your mind that you wish wasn't there. Self-awareness is the first step to improving any aspect of your life. Pouring love and energy into yourself and your interests is the best way to get rid of this voice. I want to encourage you to try a new hobby, try to meet new people, or teach yourself a new skill. You matter, and you have so much to offer. Please be kind to yourself. I hope you come across something or someone that makes you smile! Sending love and hugs. We are here to support in any way possible. <3

      From Micro: @xambrehgm Yea, it is so hard to be in the grip of learning to love and care for yourself. To see value in you enough to not have to deal with urges and patterns of self-destruction. Fundamentally, it can be one of the most arduous yet life-changing journey, and it makes sense that you've been experiencing highs and lows through it. It's like riding ocean waves that come at you, and you are trying to find the way to swim that will allow you to float and be at peace without surrendering to a force that would work against you and against your safety. Through what you share here, it also shows how much you have grown while walking on your own path. You are not the person who was immediately leaning towards self-destruction - you are now on the passenger side, with more perspective, understanding and a different outlook on what happened and the reasons behind it. This level of self-awareness is very strong, and it will turn out to become more and more an asset in learning to give yourself the grace and love you've always deserved. You will get there, friend - step by step. :heart:

    Sleep Token teach me "don't judge the book by its cover". I hate being label, "oh you Asian", "You all Muslim are terrorist", "no room for fat people here".
    As an Artist wearing mask, doesn't mean he/they will produce metal music. Sometime being diversify, out side box, unique are good. F**k people hate Sleep Token because they not Metal enough. If they produce such an awesome , emotional, master class music; then yeah, they not allowed to be label as specific genre. They just being musician. That it.
