It's a band with metal elements but I wouldn't call them a metal band. Like how Between the Buried and Me has death metal elements but are not a death metal band.

I can’t remember the last time I fell in love with a band like I have with Sleep Token. I like the old stuff, but this new shit has been straight fire!!

Yeah most of that last album was meh, although I love Telomeres. The new releases though have all been awesome. I think they should react to Give or Dark Signs or maybe even Thread the Needle.
In my opinion, the five 2023' songs are in a theoric top 10 by them by far.
Most of the new stuff is pretty good, actually. Aqua Regia is a big no for me, though.
Sleep Token is a treasure of a band.

Well now you gotta check out Aqua Regia, the other song released with Granite. The Offering, and Dark Signs, The Love You Want, Blood Sport, all of their discography (imo) is top tier

Nobody is pushing the metal boundaries further than Sleep Token, its bands like this which allow the genre to evolve and branch out into more sub genres.

The interesting thing is that the core metal audience of Sleep Token is absolutely loving this direction for the band, and least from what I can tell.
The original fanbase seems to be emracing this sound completely, there's so much positivity and hype surrounding this band now, and that wouldn't have happened if the previous audience didn't accept it.
As someone who's been loving Sleep Token for years now, but not really getting deep into them until they started to release these new songs. But I love all different kinds of music and a band like Sleep Token blending them so well together makes me love them more than any other band. I think they deserve all the hype they're getting and hope they continue to grow and push the boundaries.
Sleep Token is tearing down the barriers between genres. Many elitist metal heads love them. They are doing great things!
Also, Dark Signs, Descending, Aqua Regia, Jaws, Nazareth, The Offering, The Night Does Not Belong To God, and Vessel's cover of Hey Ya! will probably fall in line with your tastes. Give them a shot!

Sleep Token has always given "Metal version of Hozier" vibes.
I've genuinely enjoyed watching them grow from 200k monthly listeners to 2M, almost as much as the music itself. I first discovered them in '19 and was confused as to why they weren't getting much attention. When they released their last LP I thought it would catapult their careers to the next level. But with these new singles, I think they may be the fastest growing band in the world. These new tracks have made them undeniable.

It's been a few years for me since I've embraced my metal head youth. Been super into hip-hop and funk since 2015; these new Sleep Token releases have really brought back a lot of my love for the genres I grew up with.
R&B metal! The new genre. The energy and passion at the end was right on time. There's a longing that was so well represented with the ending.

@@Geo-FaFa agreed. I pretty much can’t stand most R&B, but I like several of Sleep Tokens songs (and most seem to have at least a little R&B flavor).
Sleep Token saved me from the darkest times over 2 yrs ago. I absolutely love them. I've always been big into metal but these guys just really really do it for me. Their whole library so far is all bangers. They dont make bad music and the craziest part is only 2 dudes have written all of these masterpieces! I could literally go on for days about them. Lore, Theatrics, and the best music ever written IMO. WORSHIP
That drum fill at the breakdown was perfect. You listen to this a few times and you’ll realize just how well that breakdown fit and bridged everything. It sounds like it’s about to come off the rails but hangs on enough so that it just becomes fascinating instead of falling apart
As a metalhead that consistently comes back to watch you guys react to metal, I love the fact that you guys check it out. Inspirational, to say the least. Thank you for being the positivity that society needs.
one of the understated best parts of Sleep Token is that they will unquestionably be a gateway to a lot of people to other genres. Worship.

I've been obsessed with these new tracks from Sleep Token. The way they blend genres is exactly as Ryan described, evolution. Aqua Regia by Sleep Token is straight up dope too, that should be next for sure.

If you're going to continue on through the new singles, i would 100% recommend you do 'Aqua Regia' and 'Vore' back to back in the one reaction session because those two are just SO different to eachother and its such a good showcase of their technical range. When you guys get excited, I get excited. Sleep Token took me over last year. I can't let them go. One of the hardest tickets to acquire in metal too. They just got signed. RCA I think. They are their own genre.

Grab tickets fast if they’re coming anywhere close to you, because no matter where you have to go to see them, it’ll be worth every mile driven and every minute spent watching. 🤘🤘🔥🔥

That low warmth in vessels voice is very maynard. I think vessel has such a unique sound and the way he sings has so many textures. Sleep Token is the real deal
The type of genre cohesion they bring reminds me of what BMTH did on "amo", one of my favorite albums of any artists. Such bands and genre exploration are treasure to music and will be significant to the evolution of some genres.
💯 agree BMTH have had a huge influence on the Rocktronic vibe in lots of music the last few years.

I love Vessel’s voice. It’s so nice. I think it’s one of my fav rock/metal voices ever. Ive had a few songs off their latest on repeat and I haven’t heard one I hate yet. I wasn’t the biggest fan of their first album but I really liked Akaline & Hypnosis off the last album. I like how their new stuff is heavier but not to heavy. I don’t mind the occasional gutteral but I prefer clean vocals.
Enjoying watch people discover what Sleep Token is really about. They are not genre restricted.

Found this band/dude the other day. Thought it was Dark Souls bosses making music. THIS METAL ELITIST is still here. I love it all. It's ok to have some "ballad" stuff in your metal.
I think very heavy guitar (gated and drop-tuned) is a really good fit with heavy synth pads because they are actually quite similar in timbre. And I think this is one reason Sleep Token works so well and has been able to blend genres.
Haven't heard a full song from this band until this and yeah, that was not what I expected. That first section sounded like a straight Joji track. I'll need to check out more, great reaction 💪🏼

Loved the reactions! Been following Sleep Token as a hardcore fan from the first time I saw them, and you guys nailed it: they are literally impossible to define, genre-wise. Definitely the best singer and drummer going right now… Those dudes’ talent is just plain off the charts.
Incidentally, the singer writes, plays and sings everything, and the only other guy on the recordings is the astoundingly phenomenal drummer.

Sleep Token is something else entirely and they've grown to be a fav of mine over the last few years. This is not just what metal could sound like, but what Pop / R&B could sound like, and if it takes hold, then we're all in for a very inspired ride.

Sleep Token is one of my favorite bands because they can do just about anything and everything, and you’ll never know what their next song will do. Dark Signs has Vessel singing over a trap beat. Fall For Me is a heavily autotuned a cappella song akin to Imogen Heap’s Hide & Seek. Vore is black metal shoegaze. Blood Sport is a heart-wrenching piano ballad. These guys do it all and do it so well.
I've been getting into a lot of the metal of recent. I'm a Tool fan but Sleep Token, Darko US, and Bad Omens have been on my playlist a shit ton as of late.
So glad you guys gave sleep token another go! I hope you do more of there stuff, you will not be disappointed. With sleep token, you truly never know what you're gonna get and the way they pull it off is so amazing!

Us metalheads are still with you guys! I think there are a couple diffrent types of metalheads, ones that hear something that really clicks with them and think majority of their listening needs to revolve around that particular sound and metalheads who also have an appreciation and respect for other genres of music as well and when worlds collide but are pulled-off really well, we can enjoy it just the same. This was good. Good vocals and I always enjoy a good beat and groove.

This band went from 200k Spotify followers to 2 million in like 6 weeks. They are getting plenty of love from metalheads. So glad you came back to Sleep Token, and that you went with Granite, which I was damn sure you'd enjoy. There's plenty more songs of theirs like this, and plenty others that sound very different but are just as interesting
Aqua Regia is in the same vein as this track - crazy smooth (even smoother, I'd say). Chokehold has similar vibes, albeit slightly more aggressive.

I love metal, and this song has made me take a deep dive into R&B.
It's hard to be a metal elitists because metal can really fit into anything, classical, folk, rap, pop, bluegrass. True metal heads can hear metal in everything.
The smooth in the beginning just gives the song playback value imo such a great band
