I am so glad I found your channel! Well, actually your channel found me, and I am glad for it.
My first job when I was about 13 was working at a neighbor’s upholstery shop doing all the un-covering of the old fabric and padding. It was piece work (child labor and pay rate laws were much more lax then) so I learned to work fast so she would never have to wait for a job to be ready for her cutting and sewing. And bonus!!! I got to keep all the change found in the nooks and crannies. Some if those nooks and crannies were incredibly dirty. Dead insects, mold, blah, blah, blah. But the coins… ahhh beautiful, and they spent as well as new polished from the bank.
Thank you, Gay Curtis, and OSAAT for good memories.
Hello Gay, Yep, those memories... I used to call the found change "Tips". I started when I was 15 doing upholstery and working for myself painting cars when I was 11. Thanks for hanging in there with me! Please keep liking and watching!

Excellent job. Your sense of humor through the whole thing really tells a lot about you. And the way you throw in all the technique numbers make the tutorial unique. You're an excellent teacher and you can tell that you love what you do. Thanks for your time and knowledge.😊

I shall return for more lessons and tips,, I went to you're web site and was simply amazed by your work, I sent away for actual learning videos they were in VHS and poor quality at that. Did this from 3 diff. sellers all were poor quality. Your work and trying to stay with what the manufacturer had in there was spot on. I could spend days with you just picking you're brain, I hope you have put together some learning materials preferable books, so I can use them for my 70 Ford interior resto. I will email you and thank you again for sharing your talent.
Hello Joan, What I can give you is here on CZcams and there are no VHS or books to buy. Really, what I stress is learning is doing. If your making mistakes your learning. If you have something you can take apart, just reverse the process to put it back together. I tell everyone it is not rocket science. Don't overthink things. Just do it! Again, I really appreciate your $uper Thanks! Please keep liking and watching!
Don’t know what part of the country your from but would be nice if we had you here great job please keep up the good work …

@@oldschoolautoupholstery I enjoyed and Loved this.. I love old schools.. I'm 33 now and the first 3 cars I bought growing up were Cutlass Oldsmobiles " Gbody" in my 20's and man do i love the nostalgia this brought me... Nothing better than old school seats... You did a superb job....
@@cutlasssupreme508 Thank you so much for all the kind words, it means a lot to me. You made me Google G Body. In our day, we just called the 1980 Olds Cutlass. I'm Old school I guess. Please keep liking and watching!
@@oldschoolautoupholstery those are the exact years.. I hydroplaned in my 3rd one.. the seats were beautiful " All white 1981 Cutlass olds with crimson bench seats( so soft) with the reclining arm rest & the darker crimson leather/vinyl on the side... I still have them downstairs for when I find a donor Cutlass.... I'll subscribe now
@@cutlasssupreme508 Hello Cutlass, Sounds like some wonderful memories. I remember those interiors. Welcome aboard! Please keep liking and watching!
Caught off guard so bad at that ending I’m still laughing 😂
Hello Banjo, I am so glad to hear that you were paying attention! Please keep liking and watching!
Great job, not sure about the pockets on the front though, but as you said "Whatever the customer wants" thank you for the great video and clear explanations.
Hello Rusk, You are so welcome! Thank you so much for saying so! Yep, they got the money, I got the time. Please keep liking and watching!
love the addition of the ragged edge to the box cutter. I make knives. A file sharpened edge will cut a tomato far thinner than a honed razor edge. Sometimes you need to just saw it.
Hello Dm, Ragged edge is unrefined, but for the purpose if cutting the threads but not the material. Please keep liking and watching!
Rudy, I'm learning so much from you, my brain hurts! I'm ordering a sewing machine tomorrow or Monday. Cant't wait to start practicing!
Hello Herrera, I am so happy to hear the good news! Be sure to set aside some time to work with your new sewing machine. Remember, learning is doing! Please keep liking and watching!
New Subscriber here! Watching your videos has inspired me to start a small upholstery business myself, I guess the first thing I need to do is learn how to sew lol. I will be ordering a machine in the next few days. I think I found a decent one to start with. Anyway love the videos and you make me feel like I can learn to do this. Wish me luck lol Keep them coming!
Hello John, Welcome aboard! Thank you for the sub. Any new or used industrial sewing machine with reverse, a walking foot and a welt foot will do. I always say it is not rocket science. My best advice I have for you is, that if you already have a sewing machine, just to start sewing. Experience is the best teacher. Learning is doing! Just go for it. you don't need a reason to get started. At least that is how I did it 44 years ago. I think you can do it. Please keep liking and watching!
@@oldschoolautoupholstery Thank you so much for the response. I just made the plunge and ordered the consew 206rb industrial walking foot machine. Now I have to do some research and find a good supplier for fabric and materials. Do you have any recommendations? I’m planning on taking your advice and not only doing automotive but also furniture. Thank you again for the inspiration.
@@johnchastun7070 Hello John, Congratulations! Just Google "Upholstery suppliers near me". I use Keyston Bros. They have several locations in the USA and they ship. Auto and furniture, never leave money on the table right? Don't turn away a customer. Aircraft is the top money maker, then marine, then auto and furniture. Just do it all.
