As a black woman whose been a believer for 29 years, the main problem with many black churches, is that there is no real, in-depth study of Scripture, or as it is formally called : Expository teaching. Most of the black churches, and even some of the "white" churches, are more like motivational speaking seminars, Broadway productions, or a Rock concert. 2 Timothy chapter 4, the Apostle Paul warns that a time will come when people will not endure SOUND doctrine. They want people to "tickle" their ears. They will be turned away from truth and will turn to fables, or what makes them "feel good". The "pastors" in these churches forget, that they will be held to account by God for what they do, or don't teach their congregations. Romans1:20 says that every human being has the ability to seek out truth, for God has instilled it in them and they will be without excuse when it comes time for judgement. Here in April 2024, I'm shocked and saddened at how many people who profess to be Christians, have not made the connection to events of recent years, to what Jesus predicted in Matthew 24 verses 4-14. I'm glad that I attend a church that has expository teaching. I encourage everyone to attend a church where the teaching of Scripture is the primary focus and not a stage show. Just because the music is good and the guy in the pulpit can shout a verse or two, doesn't mean that they are saved. Wisdom is the proper application of knowledge and you get knowledge by study, not by a spiritual pep-rally. 😮

Most members do not want to be taught. They prefer entertainment. If a pastor comes in that preaches and teaches without pulpit theatrics, that pastor will not be there long. There are some churches that prefer to be taught but they are in the minimum. Laziness with biblical and theological exegesis that can be broken down and given to the people to use daily in their lives is a large problem. “Whooping” cannot help one if your life is falling totally apart. The Word of God and how to apply it is what that person needs to move forward.

Yes, that's absolutely the collective job of the LIVING Church. The function of the LOCAL church is to serve as an assembly of SAINTS for the activities associated with WORSHIP of our worthy God---praise, prayer, learning His Word, participation in the sacraments, encouraging one another in the faith (especially as persecution increases), serving one another with spiritual gifts and resources, keeping one another accountable, and loving one another through fellowship that strengthen our spiritual family bond.
The focus of the local church should not be attracting or evangelizing to unbelievers but fulfilling the second part of the Great Commission which is to train disciples and mature the Body in Christlikeness.
Communicating the gospel is what we saints do as we GO OUT of the gathering into our spheres of influence as salt and light, sharing the Gospel, loving and serving others, and diffusing the fragrance of the knowledge of Christ wherever we go. The local church serves to equip the saints for that role as ministers of reconciliation. Important to make the distinction because many local church's misplace focus onto evangelism to the lost at the expense of honoring Christ by caring for, guiding, and maturing His disciples. ❤

The reality is that there are expectations of the church because they claim to be the be all and end all of a Christian's life.
I agree that The church has been supportive in the sense of being a shelter for those who were persecuted. There were meetings in the homes of prominent of the church and this caused the marrying of the church to the cause. Let's face it, the church grew because of it... But if this is no longer the case, there needs to be a concrete statement.
The problem is that the church is political, we have Ministers summoning angels from Africa to fight in an election. However, when the Black preacher speaks about local issues, they are ridiculed. The church itself is divided in its message, and that's why it Is being called out as being oppressive. Dr. Umar Johnson is not our problem, our distorted message is.
One thing i would say though, If you're promoting a gospel of prosperity, but you're not teaching how to invest or manage finances, something is wrong.

Did Corey say this? No, because everything in the world is against God and his Christ, or JesusChrist. Listen to what they say, and read; what their behaviors:
We deal not with flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against rulers from the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places or pagan worship places. Ephesians 6:12.
I study with you; because God said it is good and pleasant for brethren to dwell together in unity.

Isn't it just so interesting that the people who have the least interest in the Bible, if any use at all, try to act as if they know everything that a church is supposed to be about? These people on this panel have no idea what the call and work of the church is, nor what JESUS'S message of the gospel is about! THAT'S why it's known as the "BLACK CHURCH", because it remains in the dark!

This is my first time leaving a comment on your channel. I am glad that you are debunking the misunderstandings about church, not the Black church but church. It is apparent that the people who are espousing ideas that promote or empower black people have not studied the Bible. The Bible is not a manifesto for revolutionary actions. It is a book that expresses God's love for fallen people.
Jesus was not concerned about the ethnicity of the people He ministered to. He spoke to the Samarian woman at the well, and He healed the daughter of the Syrophoenician woman. Jesus expressed unconditional love for people that did not deserve to be loved, irrespective of their ancestory.
Simply put, Jesus came and died to pay the price for the sins of all mankind. God has an eternal perspective, and due to His love, He is offering us eternal life through Jesus Christ. In many ways, it does not matter what color Jesus was. The significant aspect is that God took on human flesh to redeem His people. That alone should be enough for everyone.
19 To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. 2 Corinthians 5:19 (KJV)
16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory. 1 Timothy 3:16 (KJV)

The church used to be involved in civil rights during the Jim Crow era. That’s the issue, the black church had set a precedent for itself out of necessity. However, should that be the role of the black church today? Not necessarily. I think it’s important for the church to help the community by way of helping the homeless, feeding the hungry, offering social and spiritual support for those who are in need. But I think we need to be careful about involving the church in politics. That can be a slippery slope for the church to be put in a position where they are influencing its members to vote for certain candidates, like some churches are already doing. But I see nothing wrong with the church addressing certain social and societal issues to help bring solace and comfort to the members and community.

But Satan cast some of us, or millions of us into his prison, and called it a church, so they wouldn't know the difference; but God, Almighty God in JesusChrist, got some on the outside looking in; this is not the church that God in JesusChrist, wants to assemble together, many are into the world, many still fornicate, some gang members, some smoke, some love to eat, not judging any of these,
but doing these things, we deny the power of God in JesusChrist, and worship Satan, as Satan said in Isaiah 14:12, I will be like the Most High (God).
People are in the building worshipping the copy, and not the true: now I'm wondering when God will wake up his people, or when they will awake out of their sleep, because the time is short, and at hand, and we need to repent. Matthew 14:14-21 (KJV) And Jesus went forth, and saw a great multitude, and was moved with compassion toward them, and he healed their sick.
And when it was evening, his disciples came to him, saying, This is a desert place, and the time is now past; send the multitude away, that they may go into the villages, and buy themselves victuals.
But Jesus said unto them, They need not depart; give ye them to eat.
And they say unto him, We have here but five loaves, and two fishes.
He said, Bring them hither to me.
And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the grass, and took the five loaves, and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed, and brake, and gave the loaves to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude.
And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the fragments that remained twelve baskets full.

You hit the nail on the head with this one. We are living in a time where the signs are all around us and because ppl don’t have a personal relationship with God through His word, they can only go by what someone tells them. I’ve said this all along that Jesus never got involved with politics. He could have crushed the Roman system, but He cane to save and give us an example of how we should live. But ppl want things to be their way and so they come up with all of this nonsense and raise leaders to back them in it. Ppl that are truly saved, must get past all of this, follow Christ and live holy and at that point at least God’s ppl would be lined up with His agenda. His agenda is truth and salvation and if more pastors would just teach truth, then ppl would know what to do about worldly agendas and pray for God’s will to be done. One day Jesus will rule this world and then only will it be run as God intended. Pls let’s not get so caught up in worldly events because this world is passing away. But let’s learn truth by studying scripture so that we are prepared to give an account of our lives before Christ. Ultimately, that’s all that matters because heaven and hell are as real as we live and breathe this air today.

The only thing I would say is when Dr Umar spoke on single black women and the pastor is correct at "some" churches because they all don't follow Jesus. You are speaking about "the church" but his information comes from "a church." And some of them got some "other" doctrine and motives. Let me end by saying that you do be on point.

Bro Corey, another interesting video. At the 17:40 mark of the video, you said the following; "the only liberation that you should look for from the church is liberation from sin and then ultimately being brought before the Lord in heaven." Let me in good faith push back a little on that statement and I will carefully consider your reply. When you made that statement, my mind went back to the slavery period when black slaves would attend Christian churches and black Chrisitians would go to church during the Jim Crow era between 1877 through the 1960's. Were the slaves and the generations that followed them wrong to cry out before God in the church for liberation from slavery and from unfair treatment during Jim Crow?
Exodus 3:7-states "Then the Lord said, “I have surely seen the affliction of my people who are in Egypt and have heard their cry because of their taskmasters. I know their sufferings" It appears the children of Israel were looking for liberation from more than sin but for liberation from slavery.
Exodus 13:14 "And when in time to come your son asks you, 'What does this mean? ' you shall say to him, 'By a strong hand the LORD brought us out of Egypt, from the house of slavery. Were the slaves wrong to think that the Lord would liberate them not only from sin but also from the house of slavery just like He did for the children of Israel ? Thank you for your time.

What is man's greatest problem? Sin vs. chattel slavery, segregation, Jim Crow, Trump, Biden, unfair treatment, mass incarceration, etc. Sin will always win. Man is born in sin with a sinful nature that is in enmity with God, which is man's most significant problem. Imagine calling on God to be delivered from Jim Crow, but you haven't submitted to Christ as Lord? What good is it to gain the world and lose your soul?
Israel was God's chosen people. Hence, they were able to call on God and be heard by him.
      respectfully,

As a Black man, I grew up in a diverse church that did have a lot of Black members, however I am used to expository preaching. Not reading a couple scriptures and then picking a topic and then preaching with the hype of a B3 organ in the background. They ascribe the emotionalism and the shoutin' to God moving by His spirit. Meanwhile the music is 100mph. I've had my spiritual needs met at the First Presbyterian Church with the worship and foundational Bible teaching. I avoid churches that preach a social gospel. If more people would read and try to understand the Bible the will see that everything they are talking about starts at home. The Church is there for believers and follower of Jesus to come together to help support everyone including new believers grow in their faith. Support each other, to make help each other stay on the right when it come to keep their hear, mind, and life heading in the direction of Jesus. We are commanded to separate from the world and build up the body of Christ.
    Romans 16:17-19 ESV

That's not the point. Jesus's race is irrelevant to Christianity and Christians. His race won't change what He did and WHO He was. I as a black person care more about the fact that He was a sinless man murdered by the pharisees. Killed for our sins, died and rose on the 3rd day. Jesus Christ claimed to be God. Whether He was white or black or blue or violet doesn't change this fact. I look at the content of His character not the colour of His skin.

Well Esther, Paul, and Gideon all defended their people in some way in the Bible. To say the church was not meant to create change, protect, and provide for its people sounds very flawed. Part of the problem in modern church is that we don’t work together as a family . We don’t get involved enough. We just watch and pray and the many bible figure even Noah built a shelter for his people.. So to a certain extent the church is suppose to be resourceful, not just having bible study and praying but be the hands and feet of Jesus on earth. We are suppose to be taking care of orphans, widows, the poor..etc.. what the modern church is doing is trying to get popular and instead of creating change.
