I have heard the Lord speak to me audibly on 2 occasions, in the last 30 years that I’ve been saved, concerning certain things that were happening in my life. I don’t think I’ve ever shared either encounter with anyone because it was for me. I definitely wasn’t expecting audible direction from the Lord but it got my attention for sure.

I grew up in a Southern Baptist Church.
My Pastor preached multiple times that Christians cannot hear the voice of God anymore because we now have the bible.
I have so much respect for my Pastor. He was a very good and humble servant of God.
But I do believe that God is still willing to talk to us today.
The question is are we willing to listen.

Then God really HAS NOT SPOKEN - Hebrews 1: 1-2 - Think about it.
Think about this also: Scholars, Doctors of Divinity will tell you that God has over 200 Bibles, and ALL are the word of God. May I ask a question? - Which one? To get you thinking along the RIGHT path, think about this: How many Birth Certificates does any person have? Suppose I gave you 2 Birth Certificates with EVERY DETAIL agreeing except one. On one Certificate it has an Asterisk which says "One Birth Certificate has other information" - What are YOU going to do? Please receive this in the same spirit with which it is sent - Okay?

So what you are saying is the Creator of the universe is willing to speak to us, desires to speak to us just as He did with His prophets of days gone by... but because of some unwillingness on our part, He is not able? Do you have Scriptural support for this belief? Like a passage somewhere the shows God attempting to communicate with someone but His ability to do so was limited by the abilities of His creation? Or is there a reference somewhere that would suggest the prophets had this same need to be taught how to listen to their Creator? Is there one text that demonstrates they were unable to hear what He was attempting to communicate to them until they became willing to listen?

    • @abcmaya

      @@bradleymarvel
If we are not willing to listen to God, Then why should he say anything at all?
Prophets are special people who are willing and obedient, but they're not perfect.
Jeremiah was in danger of losing his ability to hear God when he started complaining and continue to doubt.
David can hear God's voice. But being in sin prevented him from hearing it.
      Jonah too was rebellious.
Isaiah 59:1-2 says, "Your iniquities have separated you from your God; and your sins have hidden His face from you, so that He will not hear".
Psalm 66:18 says, "If I had cherished iniquity in my heart, the Lord would not have listened".
Samuel had to learn hearing God's voice when he was a young boy.
Eli had to help him understand who's voice was calling him.
Sometimes Christians can't hear God's voice because they just simply don't believe or is not aware of it.

Why is this subject so misunderstood? Let me make it plain! In the garden of Eden God did not speak with Eve. The Bible says that God fellowshipped with Adam in the cool of the day.
When God gave the command regarding not eating of the tree in the center of the garden, he gave that to Adam! This is the reason it is said that Eve was deceived, (nothing happened when Eve ate off of the tree in deception, because she herself did not hear the command directly from God) but Adam was not deceived, to the contrary, Adam flat out disobeyed what God had directly spoken to him.
Adam was the head of Eve, Adam was Eve's covering. God honors headship which is the reason why he spoke to Adam, and it was Adam's responsibility to teach Eve. We are dealing with the same thing today. Hebrews chapter 1 tells us that in time past God spoke at many times, and in variousunto the fathers by the prophets. but hath in these days speaks to us by his son (Jesus Christ) it is easy to understand that God (the Father) does not speak to us at all. We (the body of christ) have a savior and a head, whose named Christ Jesus. The scripture makes it clear that we are under the lordship of Jesus Christ and God the father has given us unto his son Jesus christ.
It is Jesus that speaks to some of us in an audible voice just as he did with the apostle Paul while on the road to Damascus. Hebrews chapter 1 plainly says that God speaks to us through his son. Jesus knows the will of the father, Jesus is the head of the church, and it is Jesus that has the ability to speak to any member of the body by whatever means necessary, including in an audible voice.

If God is not speaking to His children today, it isn't because He is lacking in love towards us! Rather, He is ensuring we hold His written word with great esteem. If we were to constantly be expecting a "fresh word" from Him, we would soon be neglecting the word He's already given us.

That was before the bible was completed and compiled. He spoke or used different ways to communicate and put it in the book. But once he got to the end. He said don't add to the bible, Rev22:18. So it became a test for people, the test is are we going to believe in just his word, or are we going to believe also tongues, dreams, visions, angel visitations, voices or whatever outside of just the bible.

Corey, the Lord spoke to me one morning while I was reading the Bible. I had just finished praying, got in bed and was reading my Bible like I constantly do after getting home from work every morning. I am an Intensive Care Unit nurse. I would read until I fall asleep.
This particular morning while reading, I heard an audible voice in my room. He said, “Get back on your knees.”
I jerked my head out of the Bible and looked around. I thought that I was hearing things and ignored it.
I continued to read and about two minutes the same voice spoke again. “Get back on your knees.” This time with more of a command yet gentle.
I obeyed! I laid my Bible on the bed beside me and got back on my knees and started praying to Jesus Christ again that morning.
Something miraculous happened that morning which extended to a supernatural journey that was beyond my understanding.
I had no expectation prior to this of hearing or seeing anything.
So, not because you have not experienced it doesn’t mean it can’t happen. God can do anything He pleases. To anyone He pleases. He is God Almighty!
    🙏🏽♥️🙏🏽

How is one lead by the Holy Spirit if it is mute? Doesn’t God speak to us through His word in our spirit and guides in all truth as well as His plans for us. When I speak plans I mean marriage, career, living situation, where to live even… I wouldn’t be where I am today had I not waited to hear from the Lord. He called me to become a firefighter. So I began the path about 5 years ago. I became an EMT (which is required for a firefighter) and graduated school right at the beginning of pandemic. God used me during the pandemic heavily. I knew it was all according to His timing and not my own. Had I not listened to Him I would have been jobless going stir crazy at home, but no. I was blessed by being able to pray over many people and witness. Here I am now even, in a new state going to paramedic school because that’s what he’s leading me to do now. I’ve been blessed by His mighty strength the whole time. It hasn’t been all rainbow and butterflies. It’s been real tough but I know my God and He is the God who speaks.
”To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out. And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice. And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers.“
    ‭‭John‬ ‭10‬:‭3‬-‭5‬ ‭KJV‬‬
    How is the voice heard?…
”Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.“
    ‭‭Revelation‬ ‭3‬:‭20‬ ‭KJV‬‬
    It clearly says hear…
”And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure. For this thing I BESOUGHT THE LORD THRICE, that it might depart from me. And HE SAID unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.“
    ‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭12‬:‭7‬-‭10‬ ‭KJV‬‬
Paul petitions/prays to the Lord 3 times and THE LORD RESPONDS audibly.
So… you’re saying my testimony and many of others who were not witnessed to (via preacher or someone saved) but instead rather heard or had a miraculous encounter with the Lord is not true?…

I don’t know about prophesying. But I have heard God speak directly to me concerning me. 1. Once when I was homeless living between homes of friends and family. I had a strong addiction to cigarettes that got to a terrible time of picking through butts not even mine. I got on my knees and begged God to take the taste away. I heard “Just stop” and I was by myself. I thought no way. But I obeyed and never tasted for cigarettes since 2016. Then it was another time I had been talking with God and asked him a question and I heard words that sounded like scripture and looked it up and it was indeed scripture that I had not heard before. It was in the context of my situation. It is rare but when it happens it is kinda scary and shocking. But the best one was when I was given the time my preemie would be coming home and the doctor thought I was crazy. Said yeah right ok. Three weeks later my daughter was home exactly what was said. So was that Satan or God? Nothing is ever by chance.

I just screenshot this, this subject was something I was just praying about not just this , but this subject was in my prayer awhile ago. I agree with Corey's assessment, I believe what is spoken should align with God's Word. I have had experiences with the subject as well. Before I met my wife, I had a dream and the description matched her, I won't go into the whole matter, but before I awoke I heard "If you choose this, you will go through a lot of pain, but don't worry I'll be with you". I'm by the grace of God coming through this pain, I should have paid more attention. But God is with me❤️. Another experience not long ago while I was cleaning I heard my daughter was pregnant, I replied God forbid. My daughter wasn't. So it is "very important!". We make sure it's The Lord we're hearing from it could definitely change your life. Be safe and trust in The Lord and develop a relationship with Him by reading and studying His Word. And learn to follow His Holy Spirit leading. Be continually Blessed Siblings in Jesus Christ ❤. I screenshot this because after it finished it reads " An error occurred" 🤔???

I was born and raised Muslim and had never read the Bible before. I had people prophesy to me that Christ wanted me and I would become a preacher. I remember always arguing and debating them.
July 15, 2015, I lay in bed with tears and called out to Christ Jesus. As clear as day, I heard a voice repeat these words to me, “new creature” time and time again (2 Cor 5:17). I didn’t even know what they meant. That night, I had a dream where a woman approached me, called me ‘Pastor’ and asked me to pray for her. Afterwards, I had subsequent visions including one of my Muslim father praying in a mosque asking me to return; something he later admitted to.
While Charismatics take things too far, Cessationists do the same, but in the opposite direction by denying God’s power.

Cessationists don’t deny God’s power. They don’t deny exceptional miracles. They deny that it is God’s will to give out spiritual gifts that serve as signs when the prophetic meaning of the signs was fulfilled long ago.
For example, God might heal someone, but that’s not the same as giving a man the ability to go around healing people. And giving you a dream is not the same as giving you the ability to continue dreaming prophetically.

@@Nehemiah810 Thanks. I implied an important distinction but wasn’t clear. Cessationists also believe in non-sign spiritual gifts. Teaching, hospitality, discernment, administration, evangelism, giving, showing mercy (helping people, such as fixing a faucet or car, or making a meal for someone who’s injured) are spiritual gifts for all time.
Here’s something I’ve never heard anyone point out:
1 Corinthians 12 has an interesting study on the division of labor within the Trinity and in the church. God assigns roles and the Spirit equips accordingly. The Son leads the campaigns.

When I let go and submitted....grass began to grow, and trees began to sprout...the sky turned a beautiful blue and birds were chirping and flying and I was able to stand up and then I awoken from the dream. God is good. Jesus promised us the Comforter when he ascended....the word "Comforter" is akin to the greek word "Paraciete" which is "He who walks alongside to help". God speaks audibly. It tells me a lot about these ministers who say God don't speak audibly. Maybe, the Lord don't speak to them audibly. Once you have had a walking and talking relationship with the Lord, you know his voice. If you hear more than one voice. You can ask the Lord to salience the voice that is not his. I first heard the Lord speak to me in an audible voice by in 1974. I was in a life and death situation. After He saved my life, we talked for the rest of the night. I would wake up each day for next weeks, in the morning and start the conversation with the Lord. Sometimes, the conversations was not about anything serious, I just love talking to him. He was not only my God but my best friend, I did not suppose to be alive. From that day to now, I can hear him. Even in my life when I started to drifted back in to the world, I could still hear him talking to me. He never gave up on me and he never stop talking to me. Sometimes, when I hear a minister who speaks so well and knowledgeable say something like, God don't talk audibly, to me, it exposes them as a fraud. Just say you don't know if he speaks audibly I will have more respect for that.

I went to bed that night and woke up to a voice saying AUDIBLY AND CLEARLY “Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life.” I heard this THREE TIMES and then it was followed by “This is the word of God.”. I DIDNT EVEN REALIZE THIS WAS SCRIPTURE. My entire life I thought it was “Jesus is the way, the truth and the LIGHT.” I was wrong and never knew because I wasn’t a Christian or a true believer yet. He said we would have dreams and visions. I know He has spoken to people audibly in the Bible, but has not yet spoken to me audibly. I do not expect it nor do I say it could never happen. He is God and He does what should be done. People I know who were raised in families where "God spoke" to their parents have said that it was a cop out for sin -getting in debt, doing what they wanted to do and justifying it with "It was the Lord's idea." We have seen it first hand, too, where people have said that God told them to do something that contradicted His Word and they got mad when told that God would not tell you to do something that contradicted His own Word. We even had one who said he couldn't leave where he was until God told him to. I guess "God spoke" when the homeowner said he had to start paying rent if he didn't leave. There is so much in scripture that we could read it hundreds of times and learn something new every day. We have all that we need. If we don't listen to what He has already told us, why would we be so arrogant to think He is going to tell us something extra and special to us? Another observation is that those who say God spoke to them are the ones who rarely, if ever, open their Bibles and study scripture. I heard a "pastor" once who shared all that "God told" him just that morning before he got up to speak and never used one word from scripture. No thank you. The Bible says, "Study to show thyself approved, a workman that does not need to be ashamed, rightly deciding the Word of Truth."

It is true God's word and instructions are found in the Bible. You're also right Corey in that we can go to two extremes and neither are good. (One, God speaks to us and we throw away the Bible, or two, we make the Bible to be God) For many cessationists, I believe they treat the Bible as if it is God. We also see it within those who practice Judaism. We see them dancing with Torah scrolls and having it locked away in displays. God's ways are contained in Scripture, and we have to study to show ourselves approved. You have to mull over the scriptures and ask questions. Like a cow grazing on and chewing the cud. We have to chew the scriptures, swallow it, regurgitate, and chew on it again. This is what familiarize us to God's ways. When we have a firm understanding of who God is, the Holy Spirit will lead us according to what we've hidden in our hearts.
Interestingly enough, the "canon" of scripture has always been incomplete. We know there are lost books that OT scripture makes mention of, and they rise those lost books to the same level of authority. We know Jude and Peter makes mention of Enoch 1. Paul makes mention of sayings of Jesus that aren't recorded in the Gospels, such as the saying of it being more blessed to give than to receive. Yet the 66 books we do have, we as Christians share it in common. The true canon God cares about, is what He Himself is writing on our hearts. We then become living epistles to the world. So for the two extremes surrounding this, they are both wrong. We have to rightly divide scripture, and hide it in our hearts. God leads us from there.

He spoke to me once and it got me on the right road because I had strayed away. Now some of these people always hear from God and then say something that doesn't come true. Those people make it seems God is not speaking anymore because of all of the false prophesies

I’ve heard from God audibly quite a few times , but I’m never looking for it and 99% of the time it’s Him telling me to do something. 80% of that time is stuff I don’t wanna do 😂😂. Other 19% is God telling me something pertaining to something I’m doing in life or something I may have prayed for . Few times he’s told me something to tell someone else but that has to do more with God speaking to them than me .

You should read more. Also God is specific. So IF someone says i have a word for you and its vague. You can pretty much bet its not from God. If they say God said this or that and it doesnt happen. Do not associate with that person any more. They are telling lies on God.

Because he is the same, doesn't mean he does things the same way all the time. In the old covenant, he commanded people to sacrifice animals, but in the new, he sacrificed his son.

Amen, I can testify of that, stay with the word, notice how they try to attack it, but they're falling apart, God never leaves himself without a witness. You know what he speaks of that's a scripture for the supernatural God to connect with his supernatural children, they're eternal just as God is. If you can believe then go back and look at the other videos and see what has been slowly being taken away, Christ came to restore what man had at the garden, remember God word is eternal and is never out of context, it will meet every situation now then it ever did

When I read (2 Timothy 3:16-17 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17 That the man of Gid may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.) I understand it as “All scripture.... throughly furnishes” & that means that we do not need any other “words from God”. And since all scripture is the living Word of God & it is Christ, & it cannot lie & will not lie, then anyone claiming that God is speaking to them & giving them new prophetic words or new revelations, outside of what is already written in scripture, then that person has to be the liar, because again, the living Word of God, the Bible, does not & cannot lie.

Cory, I understand the point that you are making, but I. Also, understand the point that justin i's making. I'm not absolutely sure of your point that God may speak to us regarding ourselves and not for everyone. I still would think we would be able to confirm His speaking to us personly though His Word, but I will go with that for now. I think what justin is speaking about are these people going around and openly saying God said God said God said. Other believers have no way of knowing if what they speak is true if we have nothing to judge it by. That is why we must be strict advocates of the Word of God. I was caught up in the word of faith movement, and I almost lost my eternal life, had it not been for the Grace and Mercy of God. Love you, brother Cory. Thanks for all you do

How a *calvinist* should approach a person with *his* “gospel”:
"Hi! I have good news for you! I don't know if God loves you, the most likely is that He hates you.
I also don't know if He died for you on the cross, only a very few were chosen… But Listen!"
Sad but true! This is the false gospel that is being preached in many churches.
We need urgently to bring back the *powerful, simple* and *true gospel* summarized in *John 3:16.*
If God says that he died for everyone, *it means that He died for everyone:*
    *Isaiah 53:6* ; *John 1:29* ; *John 3:16,17* ; *John 4:42* ; *2 Corinthians 5:14,15* ; *Romans 5:18* ;
    *1 Timothy 2:6* ; *1 Timothy 4:10,11* ; *Titus **2:11* ; *1 John 2:2* ; *John 12:47* ; *1 John 4:14* ; *Hebrews 2:9* …etc
Let's be very careful, let's not be found liars.

I was seeking council with the Holy Spirit and it reminded me that I was feeling guilty because I wasn’t helping my brother with yard work as much as I should, so I went outside and starting pulling up weeds. I noticed that it felt really good to do so. I hated yard work before. I paused for a moment and felt that this was pleasing to God and at the moment a dove flew into the yard and went right past me and landed on the neighbors roof and from the direction in came from there was another dove sitting on the fence. Now was God speaking to me directly or the Holy Spirit reminding of a conviction of the heart that I’d been ignoring?
I’ve never seen a dove in person that I remember, could have been another bird but they were both white.

I believe it's very simple as Corey said, if God is speaking to you, you WON'T OR CAN'T miss it. He is the great I AM and if he says something you will hear. I believe the same applies to leading. If God is leading me in the sense this is exactly what he wants me to do, I won't miss it. Does God still speak audibly today, I can't find a single reference in the Bible that says he stopped. In my experience as well, living in a Muslim country, you hear people saying that Jesus appeared to me and spoke to me and they converted. Some I know 20 or 30 years ago and are still sound believers. But back to Corey's comment, this was never the norm and it's not today. Simply put, if you are not sure it's God, it's not. Nowhere in the Bible did people miss God when he spoke. He won't let you miss it.

How God spoke to the people through the Son before the Bible were through the message and teachings of Jesus Christ. He spoke to us through what He spoke to the apostles. Jesus said unto His disciples to teach everyone what they've heard from Him. So in the context of God speaking to us through His Son is the message of Jesus Christ and His teachings. But God does speak to us personally as well because He spoke to the apostles and other early Christians personally. He had spoken to me, not audibly but, through dreams in a prophetic way. Through dreams He also gave warnings unto me. He had spoken to my mother with a very loud voice more than once and also to my younger brother. And what was said were more personal but always aligned with scripture. And what was prophetically revealed always came to pass. And what was said were always right and just. So God do speak to us not just in the ways I've mentioned but in a lot more ways.
