  • We are still in Sibu, taken the Bintulu Kite festival ahead as it was kind of urgent. From now on I keep it chronological. We have moved back into town and will go for another exploration including trying some of the local delicacies. How did that go? It went smoothly I would say, but please look for yourself. Watch the video to the end if you can and want and try to smell some of the food in this very nice old school town in Sarawak.

A great walk about in Sibu town. The kolok mee you are trying now is the red version, a little different from the one you tried in Kuching. If the noodles are a bit dry, you can always add a few spoonful of the given soup into them. The dumplings look delicious too. Wow, that "tua pek kong" temple is big. It's a taoist temple. Thanks for the tour, Sir. And thanks again for sharing this interesting video. Cheers and have a wonderful weekend.

The guy greeted you in Iban dialect. He said"Nama brita?". In Iban "nama" means what. Brita means news. In other words he's asking you, How are you? You can answer "Manah" meaning good.
The place where you bought the bao, there's Kompia..very very famous local foochow bun stuffed with minced pork. Whenever we have friends and relative going to Sibu, its a must to buy those back as gifts. They have other buns also which can be found only in Sibu, you can ask the seller.
RM3 for milk tea is quite common nowadays. It used to cost only rm2 after that it went up to rm2.50. Us locals feel the economic pinch as well.

Nice seeing you all enjoyed sibu. Foods are relatively cheap in value, but prices for drinks are otherwise. Coming from kuching, i notice drinks over in sibu cost actually more than even their foods 😂 still fine with it nevertheless. Sibu has lots of hidden gems to discover, and i personally am looking forward to my next trip heading over to the town again 😊

In this part of Malaysia majority of residents are non-Moslem so expect pork meat to be featured prominently in daily food. For East Malaysians Moslem, they won’t be easily offended by you saying ‘pork’. They’re used to it. It’s the West Malaysian Moslem who are a bit sensitive. Be bold. Don’t worry. You’re in Borneo now. 😅By the way, the chilli sauce should be mixed with the mee kampua to enhance the flavour.
