  • When you are in Miri you should at least visit one of its beaches. The closest to the city and also a very popular one is Tajong Lobang Beach. Let's set out for it and try to walk - or maybe hitchhike? Let's see if it is possible and how the beach will be.

The reason why people go to Tanjong Lobang Beach in the late afternoon/early evening is to see the beautiful sunset there. You can literally see the sun slowly “going down into the sea.” Plus the weather is cooler by then.

12:42 We get sun all year round unlike European countries (mostly in the summers), that’s why we don’t bother sunbathing. 😆
16:18 It’s the Mulu National park and Niah Cave, Similajau National park… Loagan Bunut is also accessible via Miri, Bario highlands, Baram & Marudi… Of course the Tusan beach too. Miri is the heartland of the Orang Ulu group.

Hope you enjoyed your stay in Miri. Just a quick tip, if someone offers you a ride, it would be polite to ask if you can sit in the front driver's seat (if it is unoccupied) instead of squeezing everyone in the back. This particularly applies to Chinese families as my father would always scold me if I were to sit in the back when he drives as it implies the person driving is like your personal driver or chauffeur which can come off as rude.
